Updated data through games of 6/2. Sox are -12.39 for the season, only the Dodgers are worse at -13.25. Standard deviation is 6.13, so the Sox are a touch beyond 2 standard deviations.

White Sox Winner! 1st Game of the Infamous Trap Series!

Sox starters are 4th in MLB with a 3.09 ERA. Only team in the AL in the top 7. By the way, the Tigers are 5th in the AL. Their bullpen is a disaster though. -
Twins now 12 games out, Cruz sporting a .841 OPS, and Oakland only getting .674 from their DH, looks like a good fit for a trade.

That's also what I use. Service time is listed as X.YYY, with X being the whole number of years and YYY being the number of days, I think something like 180 days = a full season. Anybody who was at 5.000 or more to start the season is eligible for free agency when their current contract expires, assuming no time in the minors, which is pretty rare for someone with that much experience. Anybody under 5.000 to start the season is under team control for at least one more season, even if they aren't currently under contract for that season.

If Engel is back, I'd like to see this lineup tonight: Anderson 6, Lamb DH, Moncada 5, Abreu 3, Grandal 2, Eaton 9, Engel 8, Hamilton 7, Madrigal 4 Give both Vaughn and Mercedes a break against a tough righty. Also provides a strong disincentive for the Tigers to bring in a lefty reliever in the late innings.

Hendriks AL Reliever of the Month
CentralChamps21 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nobody said he sucked. People said that he wasn't enough of an upgrade over in house options to justify the money that could have gone to a better outfielder or better starting pitcher. I was on the fence. I saw both sides of the argument. -
Cease is a bad matchup for with Cleveland. Cease is his best when he gets people swinging at stuff outside the zone, and Cleveland, despite not hitting a ton this year, is pretty good at laying off out of zone pitches (at least against the Sox they are). Cease needs to get better at hitting the edges with his 0-2 and 1-2 pitches.

Vaughn looks good out there, but he's still slow and can't get to a lot. Combine him with Eloy and you have an awful lot of ball dropping in the OF. I think an Eaton/Engel platoon gives you much better defense without too much of a loss on offense. If Vaughn and Mercedes are both mashing when Eloy gets back then you consider it, but the odds are that one of those two is going to get sent down.

Are his bad decisions going to cost the Sox enough games to keep them out of the playoffs? No. However, if the pattern continues he could definitely cost them a playoff game and that could fit a lot of people's definition of "derail the season."

My guess would be if Mercedes outproduces Vaughn over the next 2 months, Mercedes stays at DH and Eloy in LF. If Vaughn outproduces Mercedes, then Vaughn in LF and Eloy at DH.
