  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 04:35 AM) Just so we're clear, you despise this entire organization sans ozzie, correct? I'm just pissed Beckham is not developing at what I consider a good rate. He's good defensively which is nice I guess, but the man does not look like anything more than an average hitter. Second basemen as you know are a dime a dozen so to speak. Beckham may still be a top prospect but he's been underwhelming this year. His approach at the plate also concerns me. I think his batting approach is in contention for third worst on the team behind Rios and Dunn. He certainly projects as a worse player than Ray Durham at this point I would think and I liked Durham. I mean if he continues like this, who is Gordon Beckham - a Grudzalanec (sp)? Who? He does not look like an elite hitter to me. Can we just classify it as a bad year? Or that he's still learning? I hope so.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 05:16 AM) Woo, lets do it! So our great scouts can take a great second baseman prospect like Beckham?
  3. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 12:44 AM) YES. The 2009 low will look good compared to THE LOW. I think 20-30% lower than the 666 2009 low. I think Timberlake should do a song called "Bernanke in a box." If it's going to be that bad, how possibly can we turn this around? Will unemployment reach 20 percent before it's ova??? Scary.
  4. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 04:24 AM) I heard the Dunn shot on the radio. Was it a meatball/hanger? Or did he actually just make a nice hit with some power? It looked like the old Dunn to be honest. He really got the meat part of the bat on it and blasted it. I may be mistaken but I think it was below the belt. He crushed it.
  5. I like your letter. It's polite yet impactful. Truthfully it may be a little long, though, and it's really Ozzie heavy. It might make the reader think you have an Oz vendetta and might not be as impactful as if you condense the Oz stuff into five lines or so of anti Oz. Personally I'd point out the team is just no fun. Offense sells tickets and our offense is soooo rotten. Good letter, though. I feel it was well written.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 12:09 AM) I wouldn't trust myself in such a spot. Why? It's just a game. Have a drink with him; talk about good times of 05 and bad times of 11. I'm sure after a few drinks he'd let you know what he really thinks of Rios/Dunn/Kenny. Well, maybe not.
  7. QUOTE (gatnom @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 03:15 AM) My favorite part about this is that Ranger's current line apparently is that had Dunn and Rios played like they were capable of the Sox would be fine. If Dunn and Rios were having balls-out all-star caliber seasons and Lexi and Beckham were getting a TON of clutch hits and taking the next big steps in their careers, yes we'd have been OK.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 04:05 AM) I still can't believe we didn't trade Thornton when he might have had some value. I'm still trying to figure out how the genuises in this organization figured we'd didn't need to acquire anybody (or add Dayan) to bolster this lineup. Right now our lineup consists of left field - below average hitter; center field - below average hitter. right field - good hitter. third base- below average hitter; shortstop - average hitter (this season). second base - average hitter. First base - good hitter. DH - below average hitter. C - good hitter; horrific defender.
  9. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 03:56 AM) Lol watch Adam Dunn go on a tear when it becomes clear that the Sox are out of it. I mean he's gonna be on FIRE smashing EVERYTHING out of the park. That would be funny if he hit a ton of homers the rest of the way as we lose, lose, lose. Everybody will be all excited for "next year." Or maybe not. Sox fans may be gullible at times, but they are not DUMB.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 03:46 AM) I hope the Yankees enjoyed their 4 day vacation in Chicago. At least somebody is having fun. That had to be a nice breather for New York. Now it's back to reality for them. They swept us as easily as they would a AAA team. Sox provided no resistance at all. I wonder if some of the Yankees even need to shower after each of those games.
  11. LOL. Caught the end of that carnage. Four game sweep by New York after losing 2 of 3 to Boston. Nice job, losers. What a season. Now it's off to Minnie for the inevitable sweep. Wow. At least the players get paid no matter what. That'll please them as they sip their drinks on the short flight to Minnie.
  12. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) huh? I wasnt trying to attack you personally. I was just pointing out that I dont think your posts are coming across as you are intending. OK thanks. I won't post any more about it
  13. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 11:38 PM) Continuing to comment on her looks and telling us we should be honored to have her post on our forum doesnt come across as trying to just be nice. As people have stated, her looks are irrelevant in this circumstance. I dont think she posted here for reassurance from a bunch of strangers about her appearance. What posts of mine are you reading? I haven't commented on her appearance since my second post. If you want to discuss this you should PM me so people don't have to read this s***. I am a good, law abiding citizen, husband, dad, volunteer and former athlete and not some neighborhood creep, thank you.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 11:25 PM) Even with the great Ozzie Guillen pushing all the buttons? Yes. I still expect an 'L' every night.
  15. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 11:28 PM) Be honored? Really? Your posts are becoming borderline creepy in this thread If they are borderline creepy then I'm not expressing myself correctly. I have a wife and kids thank you and am not trying to hit on Mrs. Teahen. I guess people aren't used to somebody trying to be nice on the Internet.
  16. Good post. Why all the national doom and gloom articles today, though, after what happened on Wall st?

To all my medical friends. After a week and a half of taking Bystolic, my blood pressure is down (according to my Walgreens blood pressure kit; hopefully it works) and the tingling in my head seems to have subsided as well. Is it possible that lower blood pressure is taking care of the tingling in the head or was the tingling something I created because of stress or something? I just realized my outstanding (sarcasm) doctor who gave me five weeks worth of Bystolic for free, didn't tell me what to do when the pills run out. Do you need a prescription for the stuff? What should I do when the pills are about to run out? Is this Bystolic stuff good? I haven't noticed any weird reactions to it except one day I had pain in my chest arms and back for about 10 minutes til it went away. i'm 6-2 215. should i lose weight?
  18. What do you all think of what happened on Wall Street today? Reading the yahoo article it says most are convinced we are in for another recession. Wow. If businesses are going to be laying off tons of people again, will the economy ever recover? Are we looking at the biggest depressionary period in u.s. history?? Is it coming soon?

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 06:10 PM) I have never left a baseball game earlier than I did last night (top of the 3rd inning). If they were fun-bad, I'd stay, but boring-bad is pretty much unwatchable. Wow. That says something right there. To leave in the third inning shows what a pile of crap is out there playing ball. How can anybody in their right mind go to tonight's game? Even if by some miracle we won it, which we won't, it'd be a 1-3 series. Yankees should have no trouble burying us tonight, then we go to Minnie where we give the Twins' fans hope after 3 more losses to them.
  20. This is probably the first season in a long time I go into every game expecting us to lose. I wonder if I am alone in this feeling.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) Last night pretty much tipped it into the funny zone. I think it will be 'angry bad' if New York gets off to a 6-0 start after 2 innings tonight.
  22. I just read this whole thread. I don't like that the reporter said, 'I write what he says.' ESPN is usually pretty thorough. The writer should have shot the site owner an email at that point or tried to call and see if the owner thought the site ever had racist comments. It's true Ozzie Junior said it so the quote needs to be run, but the writer should expect some backlash from soxtalk.com's ownership at that point. He should run a short note at the end of the story now with the soxtalk owner's statement.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 06:32 PM) To be fair, I didnt take it that way at all. I thought Ozzie Jr was pointing out that the fans can get pretty nasty towards his father. I have no doubt that its probably true those things have been said or written (maybe not here, but somewhere). It was some what of a martyr statement. I post here, I never thought for a second he was implying Im a racist. At worst I thought he was implying that some of our posters are less than eloquent when making their statements, and that I can agree with. Badger, there was a direct example he gave of 'get out Mexican' or something. That implied soxtalk is a rough bunch of lowlifes. The Mexican part was in a quote.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 06:06 PM) I'm not as upset as I thought I'd be. No question this season to this point has been a colossal failure, considering the resources that were pumped into this product and the lack of anything even remotely resembling a powerhouse team in this division. But there is some finality that, if you look at it how I'm looking at it, could be a good thing for this organization in the long run. Let's face facts: 2005 was a fluke. Were the White Sox the unquestioned best team that season? Yes! But that was not the beginning or the genesis of this new-age era of White Sox baseball, a time in which we were going to go on this sustained run of excellence over a 5-6 year period. We had a ton go right that year. Yes, I know you (not you, speaking general terms) could make the counter claim that any team that wins the World Series benefits froma super-sized amount of good fortune. And that would be true. But we, IMO, had an abnormal amount of good fortune/luck that year. Even 2008 could be classified as a fluke to some degree. Again, let's face facts: those last two games of the regular season against the Indians and Tigers were 'gimme' games. Neither team gave a s*** whether they won or lost. They just had to show up and pretend they cared. We beat Bryan Bullington and Armando Gallaraga. And in an act of mercy from a baseball god somewhere high in the sky, we won a coin flip a few weeks earlier in which we got a home game against the team that's owned us the way Michael owned the Cavs. That essentially saved the season. Because we all know what happens if we have to go to the Dome for #163. With this year's failure, there's no longer any justification for continuing with the status quo. Whether KW or Jerry like it or not, they're going to HAVE to change how they run this thing. And that's a big positive for me. I'm not going to get into who should be fired, sent to the minors, traded, designated for assignment, etc. But change is imminent. And I'm looking forward to it. Change may be imminent, but seriously, we are not playing with the house's money any more like we were after 2005. This team could be in for a long long rebuilding road. This season may be our best season in a long time. I don't think any White Sox fans are ready for that pain. Let's say we have 4-6 straight seasons of sub .500 baseball. Ugh. I'm just saying the change you want may result in a way worse pitching staff. Coupled with our rich underachieving offense that may result in us being the worst team in baseball for a long time.
  25. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:03 AM) Yes, agreed, someone needs to contact them and fix that article now. I've been on here for 4 years and have never seen any comment even CLOSE to this tolerated. The worst people do is when they really get mad they cuss out Ozzie in a thread but it's never come close to being racial. Not the rants against Ozzie. People have screamed for him to leave town but nobody has threatened to even punch Ozzie on here. Now the ESPN readers think soxtalk is full of racist crap which is untrue. And if there was a death threat on here, I'm sure the mods would notify the police which they'd have a right to do. Just doesn't happen.
