If he got brought up, my interest in the team would improve. Amazing we are gonna sit back and get swept by NYY and not bring up some offense and not play DeAza.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 05:45 AM) This pretty much sums it up: The White Sox are 8-7 since the All-Star break White Sox starters have a 2.46 ERA with 12 quality starts during this time. Ozzie and Walker should be long gone by now. Once again, it proves we have a pennant winning pitching staff. How grown baseball men could sit back and make no additions/changes when two overpaid guys like Dunn and Rios have to play is beyond me. That's 2/9s of the lineup being an automatic out with 3B, 2B and SS also horrible this season. And they make no changes.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 05:31 AM) This is a good point. Garland is a great example. Generally, I don't question athlete's desire. For all we know, Rios is crying himself to sleep right now while Dunn's smoking a blunt wrapped in a $100 bill. As I said earlier, they both suck. They're both going to handcuff this organization for years. It's a shame. What did you think of Rosie's column in the Trib today on Rios? It was pretty apparent to all that his desire is wanting.

Ozzie confirms Rios will be in lineup tomorrow

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 12:58 AM) I hate Rosie with a burning passion, but he's spot on That was a sensational blog by Rosie. I can never understand when people write what you just did. You hate Rosie with a burning passion but he's spot on here? So I guess you hate 99.9 percent of Rosie because you liked this one? The hatred of the local media in this country has always baffled me. Is it jealousy? It's something. -
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 05:21 AM) Thomas wasn't boo'd? Really? He was probably the most under appreciated sports star I can think of. Again, I'm not directing this specifically at the board. If Thomas was booed it had to be sporadic. I mean you act as if the Thomas career was dominated by booing. He was my favorite Sox ever, barely beating out Chet Lemon. Both are black. I am white.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 05:15 AM) Maybe you liked Uribe because he was a damn good player that played hard, was excellent defensively and was incredibly clutch? If you don't think Crede and Rowand get more love than Dye and Uribe then you need to get off the computer for a bit and check out real life. Thomas was boo'd throughout his career. Belle was boo'd and called a bust despite kicking ass in a Sox uniform. Contreras passion and brain were questioned his whole time he was with the Sox. I just don't understand why Rios is a bum/dog despite playing better, albeit ever so slightly, than Dunn and actually playing in the field. For some reason people are real selective about who they call a bum/dog. That AJ, boy he plays hard, even though the next time he runs out a pop up will be the first. I really don't get it. Rios and Lilly both dog a play in the same game. Lilly's actually costs the winning run. Yet, Rios is the bum and Lilly, well he's a cute little guy. Taylor you are off your rocker IMO. The hate on here is not race based in any way. 1.) Thomas wasn't booed as a White Sox. He just wasn't. I mean maybe some dopes booed him late in his career or something. Belle deserved to be booed. 2.) Are you crazy? Rowand is totally hated on this board. I know cause I love him. 3.) Lilly is despised by me on this board. His batting stance is ridiculous and his bunt attempt tonight was disgraceful. I think he's a serviceable utility guy. 4.) Rios is god awful. That is apparent. Dunn sucks too. I think they are equal buckets of suck, but Rios dogging it has pissed people off, including Stoney.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 05:01 AM) The 3 Stooges of Baseball Stooges reruns are way more entertaining than watching the Sox. Enjoyed watching an hour or so of Curly on Antennah TV on Sat night.

Nice to see Lee hit two homers for Pitt tonight. Some teams actually try to add offense and aren't afraid at offending their current lousy hitter.
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 04:57 AM) I assumed a loss. A 3-2 loss surprised me. I was thinking like 7-1 loss. I think 7-1 is what's in store each night the rest of the series. Team looks even more dead than usual.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 05:08 AM) Other than Heads, I don't think anybody from this board is racist. And when did the fans boo Frank Thomas? When he came back with another team? Did some idiots boo him near the end of his Sox tenure for some reason? I don't remember him being booed much.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 05:05 AM) Yes, if you're a moron. Those are ridiculous generalizations that you're making. I'll especially disagree with that Crede/Uribe and Rowand/Dye crap. I couldn't f***ing stand Crede and I liked Uribe for some reason. I thought Rowand was a complete boner and steroid abuser while I considered Dye one of the most consistent hitters in baseball during his tenure with the Sox. And I know a lot of people that thought the exact same way. Great post. Rios is a bum and all of baseball (except KW) knew it.

Just watched highlights tonight. -- Lee hit two homers for Pitt. What a concept trying to improve one's offense via trade. -- Zack Greinke laid down a perfect bunt tonight for a hit. He can bunt and Lilly and most all the Sox can't. Laughingstocks.

How bad is Alex Rios on the suck-o-meter?
greg775 replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 03:10 AM) He sucks, but not as bad as Dunn... Morel is never going to stick while hitting the ball so anemically he makes Chris Snopek or Greg Norton look like Robin Ventura. And Gordon Beckham still can't drive a fastball to save his life. Beckham also bats like Rios now. How a young guy with talent can be so stupid to have that batting stance is beyond me. The approaches/stances of Rios, Lillibridge, Beckham and Dunn are truly laughable. Greg Walker should at the least put together a lowlight film to show each of them and say, 'You are big leaguers so you probably won't listen to me, but at least realize your batting stances give you absolutely no chance to hit the ball and you are laughingstocks of every pitching staff in the league.' -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 03:13 AM) And that was for a discount/half-price or "Family Night," right? God can only imagine how we'll draw the next 3 games when fans have to pay "dynamic" pricing. It might even be 65-70% Yankees fans. Good. Let the Yankee fans celebrate their dusting off a bad White Sox team.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 03:22 AM) It's not his fault that he's having one of the worst season's in baseball history since the dead-ball era? I guess I meant to say, that maybe he's trying, by all accounts he apparently is trying, but his results truly are an embarrassment to himself and the game of baseball. He was a bumbling buffoon at first base and his strikeouts tonight were really, really bad. He just needs to retire or at least shut it down til spring training.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) Thornton a bucket of suck? Next year when Sale is in the rotation, if the Sox get rid of Thornton, you'll see what suck really is from the left side in the bullpen. I just saw the mocking highlights of ESPN on Dunn's hitting and fielding gems tonight. He really, truly should retire. He's an embarrassment. He really is. Not saying it's his fault. He is just a clown.

Rios is so bad he makes one want Dewayne Wise back. Wait ... I liked Wise. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 04:01 AM) You're aware that Kenny and Ozzie are both awful at their jobs and should be fired right? If anything, Ozzie is worse than Kenny. These are simple concepts. Maybe I'll change my mind at some point, but I still like Ozzie. Kenny's the culprit IMO.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 03:57 AM) This is a very unhappy fanbase. If only the people in charge seemed to realize that. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 03:58 AM) Dunn ...............................................Now 3-for-77 against LHP with 35Ks 1.) We've said it all before, but the team is unwatchable. I did it again tonight. Tuned in and first inning I saw was 'the bunt' inning. I turned it off. I can only imagine how sad it is to be at the stadium watching that crap, including Dunn/Rios, Lilly, all of em cept AJ, Paulie (hurt) and CQ. I guess Lexi lit into one finally tonight. It is horrible horrible baseball and I'm glad the crowd was s***ty. I feel for our excellent pitchers BTW. They are very good.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 01:28 AM) You honestly can't believe this. There is no actual logic to support such an opinion. I've turned completely to the anti Kenny mode. He's the damn GM. He should have control over the roster. He has put together one of the worst offenses imaginable to go with a very good pitching staff. It's his job to have brought up Dayan a f***ing long time ago whether Ozzie wanted him or not. If Jerry is hampering Kenny, then Kenny should resign. Otherwise it's on him to put together a roster that can actually score more than four runs once in a while. Bye bye Kenny.
-
What a lousy game. Same ol s***. So the Sox again let the trade deadline slip away and here comes the final slide to bury the team. Team is as dead as it has looked in a long time. Yankees should have no problem sweeping this one. Were there more Yankee fans at the game than Sox fans tonight? Nice bunt by Lilly. I don't want to scroll back in the thread to that point in the game. Surely there was an epic meltdown. I merely laughed.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 04:51 AM) When is the last time this happened to a franchise? I mean two key players going from good to absolutely horrible in the same season, without injuries? These are guys in their primes, with pretty good career numbers, who seem to have simply forgotten how to play the game. This has to be the most frustrating circumstance imagineable for them, management and the fans. It's one thing to lose a player to injury, but it's another altogether to suddenly lose two players to ineptitude. There's nothing unusual about a slump, and almost every player has them, sooner or later. But, can you call 4 months a slump? We should make a list of players who suddenly hit the brick wall and were terrible like Dunn. 1.) Steve Sax. 2.) Carlton Fisk suddenly couldn't catch the ball behind the plate and was finally done. Although to be fair he was probably 55 years old at the time. 3.) Dan Pasqua with the White Sox. 4.) Bobby Bonds with the White Sox. Those are my starters.

Ozzie confirms Rios will be in lineup tomorrow
greg775 replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The bottom line on Rios is he should never have been acquired. Everybody in baseball knew he was a lazy guy who doesn't respect the game. You can't change people at this stage of life. It's all on KW. He should be fired for acquiring Rios when another team simply wanted to be free of him. Dunn isn't a fireable offense; Rios is. Dunn is a tragic comedy but he had a good track record before coming here. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) Wow, if he really said that about Teahen and his wife, Ozzie has got to be fired immediately. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 10:38 PM) Hey Oney, In case you are reading this, I am your biggest fan. However, I must bring it to your attention that I ran into Sergio Santos about three weeks ago at a steakhouse and we got talking, and he said you were a b****. I was appalled by that, and told him you were just a little misunderstood, but he said you were a something-something-something and he used both the "p" word and the other "f" word. I just wanted to let you know that. I think it's mean to talk about somebody behind his back like that. You should tweet that HIS wife looks like a dog, that'd be really funny. Thanks, KHP your biggest fan PS I hope you never leave the city 1.) Are you serious? Fire Ozzie for something his kid tweeted? About a stiff like Teahen? Wow. 2.0 If this is not a joke, you are kind of a bad guy for finking on Sergio. I doubt Sergio told you that stuff for you to post it on the internet. Wow. p.s. If Ozzie does take the bait on this and goes off on what a no good that Teahen is, then maybe that will be a fireable offense. But for the actions of his kid? On Twitter? No way. Twitter is a joke; Teahen is a joke of a baseball player.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Doesn't sound like Ozzie is planning on leaving Chicago soon. He's 47 years old. I'd take him 13 more years. We need a new GM and this GM must make moves and give Ozzie the players to work with. Take no further input from Ozzie.
