Angels @ White Sox, Sunday 1:10 PM, CSN
The Sox may never lead in the late innings again so the bullpen may be fine.

Angels @ White Sox, Sunday 1:10 PM, CSN
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) It's ironic because I always considered Thornton a great trade chip if they went into a rebuilding period. Now his value as a set-up man at for $5.5 million is pretty much just a salary dump unless he turns it around somehow....even then, only 5-7 teams, at best, would be able to afford that luxury. You have to hold on to Ramirez, Beckham, Santos and Sale...and many would argue now's the time to trade Alexei if you rebuild. I still think that new contract's favorable enough that you could go into rebuilding with the middle infield set for the next half decade. That's a good starting point. What does rebuilding mode even mean?? Get rid of all your players for youth? DO you want to wait 25 years like the Royals did to have a good decade coming up?

Rongey is My New Idol
Yes, but tonight Ostrowski (sp) and the other guy played the call and said they would have hung up on the guy way earlier than Rongey did. They said the caller was way out of line and praised Rongey. I hope he doesn't get reprimanded. The callers had no reason to call except scream at Chris like it was his fault the Sox got killed again. No matter how bad the Sox have been, and the Sox have been horrid, like many of you have said, what has happend in these 14 will not decide the season. We can vent on here, but to call the show and go after Rongey was stupid and the caller got what he deserved. He was actually screaming and Rongey called him on it early, 'Why are you screaming? Quit screaming.'

If Humber looks serviceable as a No. 5, why don't we make Jackson the closer? He has nasty nasty stuff.

This is a weird thread, now morphing into how dumb/gullible some of us are. This is a Hall of Fame thread.

Rongey is My New Idol
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 04:24 AM) You need another idol. Then again, Barry Bonds is my idol. Good line, but seriously the call was classic. How many radio hosts have the balls to call a customer an idiot? A caller is a customer of sorts. This was godlike radio.

Rongey is My New Idol
Did anyone catch some dumbass name Bob calling Rongey's post game show? Miffed at our losing ways, he went after Rongey for some reason. Personal rant of things Rongey allegedly said about not blaming Walker last year, blah blah. Rongey ended the call by saying, 'You are the worst kind of fan and you are an idiot." If Rongey still checks this board, let you know you are my idol. If you guys/girls missed the call, wow, you missed a doozy. That last sentence before hanging up on the guy is as good as it gets.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
Bulls are going to be dominant a long, long time if Rose stays healthy. Will it be Chicago and Miami trading titles the next 10 years?

Performing To Expectations
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) Holy crap, I leave for 3 days and I come back to panic mode? That's... Okay so if you want to panic, do so because our talented bullpen has failed us. There's no room to complain about the offense or rotation, where most of the payroll is invested, because they've been good. Is this thread meant to suggest that they wish we'd spent more money on bullpen arms? If so, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY disagree. Signing bullpen arms to large money is risky business and is not as likely to give us a return as an expensive Rios or Dunn or even Peavy is. Seriously, just because people are justifiably upset with bullpen blowups does not give them carte blanche to rewrite history or bash whatever the he'll they please. There is sooo much freaking time left. We were well below .500 last year, yet led the division in July last year. So wtf are people sh**ing their pants over? Call me back in a month if the issues are the same, Christ. Ending it with "Christ" suggests you are amazed and/or perturbed. I think a lot of us are not in panic mode, we're just kind of pissed that the team is .500 through 14 games with some horrendously long road trips coming up. As you and everybody else knows, winning six of 10 games on the road is good so until the stretch of road games is over, the Sox really are not going to have much of a record to speak of, which means a s***ty start to the season. No panic, just annoyance here.

4/16 GT: Sox vs Halos - 3:10pm CDT - FOX
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 01:55 AM) Sure glad I've got the Bulls to last me a little while longer. The Bulls are this year's Blackhawks. Man, Chicago has been on a pretty good roll of World Championship contenders. Much different from decades ago when all Chicago had was heartbreak in sports.

What is Going Wrong With the Sox
QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) yeah, but doing it for the sole purpose of bating other posters is just stupid, immature, and really shouldn't be tolerated... maybe that's just me tho. I do agree with Reddy. Waste of time to open a thread that is a sarcastic joke, but maybe that's just me, as well.

2010-2011 NHL thread
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 11:49 PM) Oh yeah there is no doubt. Those guys have played a s*** load of hockey (competitive, 110% effort) in the past year. I wouldn't be surprised at all. Toews really hasn't showed, but everyone else certainly has taken a step back. And remember, too, they went to the Conference Finals the year before the Stanley Cup. It does add up and the Hawks had no depth this year to give these guys a break. I was thinking about that. Do you think that is a factor? I couldn't believe how short the offseason was after the Hawks won it all. Man, it was back on the ice in September, right? That's crazy.

4/16 GT: Sox vs Halos - 3:10pm CDT - FOX
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 12:28 AM) Thank goodness you guys aren't in charge of the roster. Steve, you've got to be frustrated by this homestand as well, aren't you?

4/16 GT: Sox vs Halos - 3:10pm CDT - FOX
I probably should take a break from this board til we start winning. This team is really really bad right now. Losing all these home games is a terrible thing. Even when you get off to a rotten start, you should win series at home when you are a team that is "all in." The Royals should have our record; we should have their record. I bet after today's game comes Oz's "we suck" rant. He's got to rant before we get swept Sunday.

4/16 GT: Sox vs Halos - 3:10pm CDT - FOX
I assume the fans are booing again today. Has there been more booing this year than all of the last 2 years combined? Games I've watched on mlb.com there have been boos this week. This team is playing horrendous baseball.

Performing To Expectations
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 06:40 PM) Yet they are above .500. Go back to the benchmark season of 2005. How did late August early September go? You don't want to go there about Bobby for obvious reasons, but blimpie got lit up last night, so I doubt he would have been the answer. The Sox, even with some problems that probably won't be problems the entire season are still right there. Panicking before taxes are due is beyond silly. Yes, panicking is dumb because I think this offense will be amazing during June, July and August. I just don't understand the blah start and some of the s***ty play again against mediocre competition. The dropped fly balls, the overall bad D and the horrible relief pitching has been annoying. Sox starting pitching combined with fierce offense should make for a good summer provided the relief corps and defense gets its head out of its ass.

2010-2011 NHL thread
I agree. Last night was a weird game. The Hawks had some nice goals, but the Canucks would immediately score again to get the 2 goal cushion.

Performing To Expectations
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) Really? You were in total denial about Bobby Jenks' declining performance last year. The Sox for as how terrible they have played recently, and without Dunn for half the time and Peavy for the whole time, and dropping 5 flyballs, and having their new closer 0-4 in save opps and having their defensive specialist 3B on pace for 50 errors and the guy a lot of people thought should win a GG at SS on pace for about 40 errors, are 2 games out of first place, This team should be fine, the only thing that concerns me is the total lack of fundamentals, which if you looked at it objectively, has been a trait of Ozzie Guillen led teams more often than not. Is that Ozzie's fault? I don't know Fielding in general, throwing to the wrong base, missing cutoff men, failing to get bunts down, failing to move men over, the list goes on and on. I think KW needs to tell Ozzie to make this weekend a bunt free weekend. They were 0 for 2 yesterday. Its just a waste. Ramirez goes up to try to bunt, he has no chance getting it down, its almost like he wants to get behind in the count on purpose to increase the degree of difficulty for his AB. BTW, the Sox are currently on pace to win 87 games. The Sox currently are one game over .500 with an easy schedule and are having a blah homestand. As far as Bobby, I don't want to go there. I do want to see our current closers actually get a save and not suck just about every time they hit the mound.

Performing To Expectations
QUOTE (kapzk @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 06:22 AM) Yea the team isnt playing great but put it this way like how even Gordon mentioned after the game ... if this is the worst we are going to play then that's pretty good. We are going through some tough times with the Bullpen struggles and poor defense. But that willl all come around b/c the talent is definitely there. I hope Gordon commented on his s***ty bunt attempt. Little things mean a lot late in games.

How many of the losses have the Sox actually been "beaten"?
I don't know, but the record is 7-6 and that's not good enough.

What is Going Wrong With the Sox
Dunn is what he is (cliche). He's going to be great this summer in the Cell. Team just needs to start playing better and judging from past few seasons I am not that hopeful.

QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 04:35 AM) My God you people need to relax. It's April 15th. Calm down Tannerfan, the team is playing bad baseball. We have a right to be in mild panic mode. We know it's early, but we also know good and bad baseball when we see it. Chicago fans are smart fans. Yes the offense should be amazing this summer, which is a positive.

White Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels 4/15, 7:10 PM CT. CSN
The problem is we've played s***ty baseball this season with a favorable schedule. That's not good. Good starting pitching and decent offense. Other than that, fail.
