  1. My point AGAIN was Sox fans, at least on here, undervalue their own. Somebody respond to my point made in the long summary above from Game One of the WS. Which players on there do you consider great former Sox? There's no love from some of you for guys who gave you a WS ... and in contrast, f***ing Cub fans worship those chokers from '69 who finished about 10 games out after blowing the big lead to the Mets. Jenkins, Banks, Williams, Santo, Kessinger ... oh they are immortal by Flub fans. From some Sox fans on here, all ll I read is b****ing about Rowand, Dye, Garland, Crede, Pods, Uribe, et. all. They were very good players. Deal with it. If Pods hit a walkoff WS homer for the Cubs, he'd be worshiped in this city forever. He's mocked on here for getting picked off a few times last year. My god.
  2. Thanks for the info. I wish I was more of an economics whiz.
  3. Remind us every game if you are in chat. I'll definitely go in there.
  4. Nice win. But where's the love also for Beckham, Omar, AJ, Pierre, Putz and Bobby?
  5. No, get a real shortstop from somewhere, put Beckham at third and Lexi at second. As much as OC was controversial, we'd be better off with him at ss, Beckham at third and Lexi at second. But we won. I'll take it. Nice job, White Sox, Danks, Teahen, Rios, Omar, Beckham, Bobby, Santos, Thornton and Putz.
  6. A 1-5 record on this road trip combined with the total performance of the team would probably be cause for canning a manager of a team that many picked to win the division. The difference is he has a track record of being a good manager. Big difference.
  7. At least Ozzie doesn't kiss anybody's ass. Comcast is a sponsor. Yet they are doing what cable companies do, not show up all day. Good for him calling them out on twitter. That's what twitter is for, to make stupid comments that nobody else wants to read. But it's the wave of the future you know, social media. Yeah right. It's in it's 12th minute of 15 minutes of fame.
  8. He was a starter on a World Series team and still better than most of the stiffs on this current team. But hey, he's another guy many buried when until this year's version of Rios he would have been way better than anybody else we've put out there. But like I said, Sox fans on here devalue their own. He made, what, 2 mill that year as well? Keep telling yourself he sucked. s***, who on that 05 team do we think was any good? Reading this summary of game one of the WS and laughing at what many fans think of these sox players who were heroes right now. Cub fans consider those chokers who choked in 69 legends. Many Sox fans ridicule the names of the guys who starred in 05. Playing in their first World Series home game since 1959, the White Sox took an early lead with a home run from Jermaine Dye in the first inning. The Sox scored two more in the second when Juan Uribe doubled in A.J. Pierzynski after Carl Everett had already scored on a ground-out earlier in the inning. The Astros responded again in the next inning when Lance Berkman hit a double, driving in Adam Everett and Craig Biggio. In the White Sox half of the fourth, Joe Crede hit what turned out to be the game-winning home run. In the bottom of the eighth, Scott Podsednik hit a triple with Pierzynski on second. Roger Clemens recorded his shortest World Series start, leaving after the second inning with 53 pitches including 35 for strikes, due to a sore hamstring that he had previously injured (and caused him to miss his last regular season start) as the loss went to Wandy Rodríguez. José Contreras pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits for the win. Before exiting, Contreras allowed a leadoff double by Willie Taveras with no outs. Neal Cotts entered the game in the top of the eighth inning. It marked the first time in five games that the White Sox had gone to their bullpen. Cotts pitched +2⁄3 innings before Bobby Jenks was called upon by manager Ozzie Guillén to relieve him. Ozzie signaled for the large pitcher by holding his arms out wide and then up tall. In the post game conference Ozzie joked about the signal by saying he wanted to be clear he was asking for "The Big Boy". Bobby Jenks returned in the ninth to earn the save to give the White Sox a 1–0 lead in the series. [edit]
  9. Put this in layman's terms? How can a team be bankrupt if it is worth zillions? If you go bankrupt, doesn't that mean you have no worth and your credit card companies are out of luck? What does this mean for a baseball team? Why does the government allow them to declare bankruptcy when they are worth lots of money??
  10. Agreed. Throwing stuff is bush league and habit forming. The mob mentality sucks. One person throws something and here it comes from the stands.
  11. Maybe so, but if you had to bet your life savings or be killed on the spot, would you actually bet for anything better than a split? I think 3 of 4 for Tampa is the safe bet with a TB sweep a possibility. This roadtrip could give a lot of support to the Ozzie haters. If we don't win the Cleveland series and get boatraced by TB, he probably would deserve to be fired, judging on our overall performance and the ridiculousness of getting beat by the Indians again. He won't be fired, cause he's Ozzie, but this road trip will say a lot about whether our team is mediocre or simply rotten.
  12. Undervaluing your own. I rest my case.
  13. I'm talking about the fans undervaluing their own. Lot of bashing of Rowand and people who thought we could do better in cf even though it was a wasteland until this year's version of Rios. Lot of people bagged on Thome even though he'd be way better than this year's piece of s*** DH by committee and lousy lineup.
  14. Four at Tampa Bay might really be the start of the firesale and/or coaching staff demotions. I don't know how anybody would figure we'd win more than one of those four. One win max. You are right. Sox need to sweep this series somehow heading into 0-for-4 land or 1-for-3 land.
  15. He's still been great in terms of percentage of games saved. Since when do big market teams care about salary? And you think Sox fans don't undervalue their own? They wanted to run a highly effective Pods out of town for getting picked off a few times. They undervalued guys like Rowand and Uribe and Garland and Crede and Thome and Dye. Need I list more guys give lack of respect?
  16. On paper, how can this be anything but a victory? In reality, it's 50-50 chance at victory at best the way the Sox have played this year. Time to win our second straight series and take baby steps toward .500.
  17. You really think that matters a bit? Sox can lose a series to anybody at any time no matter who the opposition throws out there or how few fans there are in the stands.
  18. Why is Jenks such a low value closer aside from Soxtalk people undervaluing their own again?
  19. I always was and remain a great table top hockey player. My ability to pass the puck from the wing back to the defensemen and pop it ahead into the goal ... and control the puck while using all the knobs was legendary on the south side. I also liked flipping it quickly from defenseman to defenseman, passing it to a wing, have the wing whack it around the goal, the other wing nab it, pass to the charging center who rammed it in the goal. Fun game.
  20. He passed the eye test for me a couple weeks ago. I saw him in the flesh go 4-5 and whack a homer to right and smash two off the wall in left. What a concept. Hit it where it is pitched.
  21. Great post, Dick Allen ... again. Whoever said hockey is boring ... why would you say that? There are not the incessant time outs. The game moves. When it starts to get dull with the dumping of the puck, you don't usually have to wait long for a vicious hit. I also congratulate all the die-hard Hawks fans. I was a HUGE fan as a child and til the start of college; then a nothing fan. Now, yes one of those fans who only starts to pay attention when it looks like we have a good team brewing. Been watching the playoffs all the way through and I've been IMPRESSED. Go Hawks. How has Hawks' other goalie handled not being the guy the Hawks have gone to? Has anybody interviewed him?
  22. Yes. What would it take to get him? Now that's the kind of hitter to excite the masses heading into the future.
  23. Caufield, send me a pm if you can describing your experiences teaching English in China. I know somebody who wants to do that. I know you like to write long so it shouldn't be a problem (little joke). Please include how you got hooked up, what city you are in, what you think of the experience, what experience you need to go over there, what age range they are looking for in teachers, whether you had any teaching experience before, how they are treating you and of course ... have you met any decemt women to date out there? Thanks, sir. Today's loss had to be one of the worst of the season BTW. After winning 2 in a row vs. this team and looking like a team with a clue, this crap hits the fan again. Wow.
  24. Sox should do anything to get that lefthanded hitting first baseman playing for Toronto's AAA team -- guy they got in the Halladay deal. I forget his name but he is f***ing awesome and he's a young lefthanded hitter! You'd think the Sox could dangle Jenks in front of some teams that need a closer. Despite what people on this board think, he's still able to produce. And what's with Beckham making out after out? Sophomore jinx? This is getting ridiculous. Two months of hell for Gordon Beckham.
  25. A line in the Tribune story. Another reason for KW to think about unloading salary as this team continues to struggle heading into June.
