  1. No. The weird hex continues. Oz blasts Javy for not ever winning a big game and Javy predictably loses 2 big games in a week that kill us. Now we face "Big Game" Freddy. He thrives on this stage. We got problems unless Jimmy or Griffey go deep 2 times. p.s. Remember Tinker to Evans to Chance? Tomorrow it's gotta be Floyd to Thornton to Jenks.
  2. I'm being bipolar again. My question to you ... Is Mark the only reason we won today? Since somebody not named Mark Buehrle is pitching tomorrow are we doomed to another blowout loss? If not, why not? Go Sox please win us a game!!
  3. Let him demand a trade. Steve Swisher's kid did not have a good season. He can salvage it tomorrow by blasting 3 home runs.
  4. Now if we can just get there. One win gets us to Tuesday.
  5. Oh s*** ... Selfish Sheff is gonna be bombing for the fences. This is really not good news. This Freddie thing is also not good. Oz has already texted him. Freddie is gonna want blood.
  6. How can you not love Oz or continue to love Oz win or lose tomorrow after this story? The reason I love him is he "gets it." By Mark Gonzales Chicago Tribune (MCT) CHICAGO — The message on the clubhouse bulletin board summed up the White Sox’s mission: “(Forget) feelings. It’s about winning!!!!” After a week in which Nick Swisher acknowledged his disappointment over being benched, Orlando Cabrera irked some teammates and Javier Vazquez swore at catcher A.J. Pierzynski, the Sox were reminded of their mission before Sunday’s 5-1 victory over Cleveland, which kept their postseason hopes alive. “I don’t care about (players’ feelings),” manager Ozzie Guillen said before the game. “They don’t care about mine. I never heard any player come to me and say, ’How are you feeling today?’ Only my wife told me this morning, ’How do you feel?’ I feel fine.” Guillen emphasized it would be a long and bitter off-season if the Sox failed to make the playoffs. “The only way we’re going to feel good about this, the only way we might not hate each other in the off-season, is we win,” Guillen said. “That’s it. It’s going to take a little while to get over this one if we don’t go where we’re supposed to go. “It’s not going to be easy for me to get over it if we don’t do what we’re supposed to do.” One player believed Vazquez’s cursing was good, simply because the players saw angry emotions they had never witnessed from him. It showed the mild-mannered pitcher cares. Meanwhile, Guillen estimated he got along with his players about 70 percent of the time. “That’s pretty good,” he said. “But the feelings we have for them, it’s different when it’s on the field and off the field. When it’s on the field, I have a job. Off the field, I love them to death. “But on the field I’m the manager ... and some players maybe like it and some players maybe don’t. But that’s why I’m their manager, to make decisions. I might make the wrong one, but the one I make has to be respected.”
  7. Yep. p.s. Tony why don't you consider put a pic of a hot chick in your photo box in place of the dude?
  8. My point is why would they even think of throwing in tix for a POSSIBLE playoff.
  9. Interesting. They cover all bases (pun intended) and put in a one-game playoff in the ticket package? Wow.
  10. I hear you, but Floyd is going to have to suck it up if we want to see Tuesday. Your lineup of pitchers on paper is fine; in reality it is a blowout loss. If Floyd only goes four, that means 5 runs. Carrasco will give up at least 2 in two innings probably more, that's seven. I'll say we get the good Dotel and no runs; bad Dotel is 2-3. But I'll say none. Linebrink has been horrible, 2 more runs. So that's nine runs and Jenks doesn't need to pitch. My hope and I pray for (I realize Floyd probably won't do the job but I can hope). Floyd 7 innings, 3 runs. Thornton no runs. Bobby no runs and a nice 7-3 win.
  11. Are you being serious?? With all due respect if he goes 4 innings we are 12-2 losers. Our recipe for automatic losses has been pitching several of these bullpen hacks. The only way we are going to win tomorrow and/or Tuesday is today's victory formula, with hopefully a few more clutch hits. If we don't get the traditional quality start, better than a quality start, we are doomed. The only relievers who have a chance vs. Detroit are Thornton, Jenks and Dotel (pray we get the good Dotel). If Oz uses MacDougal, Ramirez or Carrasco I wonder if fans will storm the field and carry MacDougal, Ramirez and Carrasco back to the dugout.
  12. That's true. But I think in the minds of the people that know the team well (us on here) we realize it has been an epic collapse. The only thing that saves my sanity is the fact the injury to CQ truly was a killer. We predictably died without our MVP.
  13. I'm glad we get to play the Detroit makeup. Predictably the Twins finally beat KC today. Cmon Sox, get us to Tuesday. One at a time, baby. Gotta play good baseball. The Tigers have to make the trip; they are going to figure they might as well win it.
  14. I thought this was gonna be a poll asking who was our ace and I'd get to vote for Mark. I had to fill out a poll this week asking who was my favorite baseball player: I put Mark. Thanks for the gutsy outing today, Mark B.
  15. Sox need to treat it like a playoff game which is an obvious statement. It would be the ultimate irony, Freddie beating Sox and Ozzie after his excellence in 05. If Jimmy and Griffey truly want to play in another postseason, then they might consider blasting a couple homers. Some of our righty hitters are gonna have to come through. Hope he doesn't play Wise just cause he's a lefty. Man, the game is at the Cell .... just please get it done, Sox. -- Will any fans be there? What's the ticket policy on tomorrow and heaven help us, if we win, what's the ticket policy on tuesday's action? How the heck do they sell tix on such short notice IF we win?
  16. I agree but I'm still mad, dejected, depressed, etc. After I got out of a banquet (after watching KC win today on TV) I got the update we were down 7-1. I called a Sox friend in New Mexico and screamed "I wish I didn't care; I don't know why I care so much about this!" Sad thing is this will be the biggest chokeaway in my lifetime. Tough to take; it'd have been impossible to take w/out 05. But I understand what you say. I'm sure we'll all be back in spring training and during the hot stove league. It's just tough to take the way it's goin down.
  17. You got that right, but I ain't discounting Bullington besting us. I watched the Twins game today and I'd be mortified if they lost again Sunday. They had more opportunities wasted vs. the Royals. They got some talented lefty hitters who are going to abuse Duckworth. Believe me, we're going to finally have to win one or the season ends Sunday.
  18. Several people have mentioned torture. That's what it truly is. The sick thing is all we need during this tortureous period is like ONE WIN? Torture baby.
  19. Let's face it: We're at home. We have a real pitcher going against another no name. We should win. Another loss adds to this monumental collapse. I mean get swept by Cleveland at home?? What's Steve Stone's take been on all this on the radio??
  20. Thanks for the take whitesoxfan. In looking back and assessing blame for the flameout, one of the gaffes was acquiring Griffey and not getting a Byrd, Harden, somebody like that to bolster the staff at the break or trading deadline. Also Oz calling out Javy certainly flopped in his face as well as numerous other things. I don't know about you, but I'd have liked to not only have CQ this week, but Crede. He's so undervalued on this board, it's obscene. Crede was known as a gamer. We could have used some gamers of late.
  21. This three day's rest thing is annoying. Why did we go to it anyway? Cause of the Broadway-Richard option? Is this an example of Kenny not getting us a Harden type at the break? Not flaming just wondering how we got in this 3 days rest mess?
  22. I will say if the Sox were as positive as the people on this board we'd be in the playoffs. There has been some anger, but most people, not me included, have kept the faith. They've lost games in all kind of ways recently, yet there's always a thread or post excited about the following day. I really thought today would be the day AFTER watching the KC game. But we basically got blown out in our own building again. A positive memory of the season should be the positivity of this board.
  23. I agree you never know. Has anybody ever experienced something like this with their favorite team(s)? This is a once in a lifetime deal for sure. It's crazy.
  24. Great long post. I enjoyed it. Good stuff. I'm beyond being mad. It's laughable. It's the most amazing meltdown I've ever seen regarding my favorite teams in sports. I really don't know how you come back from something like this. I guess the only way you do is remember as how amazingly incredible as the 05 postseason was (in losing just one game and winning almost em all) the polar opposite has happened in '08. We've lost every game just as we won every game in 05. Losing every single game when only winning one or so would have given us the crown is so absurd it's laughable. We cut the lead to 8-6. Boom 2 more Indian runs. We lead Twins 6-1. Boom, they win. Never seen anything like this. And it's continuing. We still should force the game on Monday minimum. Will we? I'd think not. But hey ... I'm hoping and rooting! But again, if we lose six straight (maybe even seven straight if we and Twins lose tomorrow) to end this season ... how the hell do you come back from that?? Fire Oz? Just chalk it up to it being the polar opposite of '05? I have no answers.
  25. Headline: Meche gets mashed; thanks for the DPs though
