So do the entire KC Royals team. They are a disgrace. They fold vs. the Tigers and Twins at home and they'll kick our ass at least one of the games in the upcoming series, maybe 2. What a joke they are.

That made me laugh for some reason. "Just shut up" was a funny order.

Me too. Sad day. I think it is not a mean assumption to say his career is over. Gosh only knows how old the guy really is. He was a stud for the Sox, but he'll never pitch for us again if he's out til next year's All Star break. The Trib is already talking about Poreda. This may sound extremely dumb, especially from me who hated his performance, but should KW call up Richard and give him one start, for the simple reason he won't be nervous this time and show his true ability? Just asking. It'd be a one-game experiment obviously. How old is Poreda? The Trib seems to think he's the guy.

Oz said in the AP story: “We don’t deserve first place the way we’re playing. We’ll continue to fight and it’s going to be interesting. Now we’ve got to look up, there’s one team in front of us.” (as much as Sox fans gripe on here, Oz gripes a lot himself. He realizes we're simply not playing good baseball. We do sometimes, but not often enough for a playoff contender) Oz said when asked of Boone (He will not see a Sox big league uniform against this season) Logan: "This a pennant race. I want men on the field. I keep telling (general manager Kenny Williams) we got what we need. But some people make me look bad, some people make me look disappointed, some people make me think about what we have. Some players should look themselves in the mirror and be embarrassed, and they should be better, that’s all I can say.” (Boone for whatever reason has sucked big time of late; bye bye Boone see ya in spring training). Oz said when asked what he said to Boone on the mound: "I can’t say here, because I’m going to get in trouble." (He reamed his ass). And finally in the story it said: White Sox OF Ken Griffey Jr. sat out Saturday’s game with general soreness. (I love Griffey but his body must be that of an old ballplayer). I know things always look grim after losses, but no matter what Oz says about "critics" he's pretty critical himself a lot of the time about the way his team has played.

On paper this is a huge pitching mismatch tonight. So maybe we'll win cause we've lost a few of those lately.

Chet was a love him or not kind of guy. I had a friend who simply hated him. And he was my favorite Sox of all time.

Why the Sox wore red uniforms and were actually another version of the Red Sox? Is there a good answer to that? As I recall after Wood came back they bunted him out of baseball. Guys bunted and he couldn't go get the ball anymore. His knuckler was amazing.

That sucks. Rest in peace. We'll all be joining him one day; enjoy every day folks.

Scary stuff this back pain you guys allude to. How the heck do these receivers survive in football when they get nailed in the bak all the time. And baseball taking all those hacks during a season and BP during the season. Poor Joe.

I loved Chet as well. I copied the way he got under a fly ball in cf. He'd tap his glove on his knee. The guy was one of my all time favorites.He hit that ball hard. I saw him make some incredible catches in Comiskey, just incredible.

Great win. Applause for pretty much everybody except Dotel. He's got good stuff sometimes. Why is he so frickin inconsistent? I saw Griffey had an oh-fer. Did he have decent at bats or no? KC is a joke. They play their ass off against us. You watch, they'll be swept by the Twins. We got to keep beating a damn good team this week in the BoSox.

Man they got good starting pitching on paper. This should be really interesting. Hope we're on our game like we were against the Cubs in The Cell.

We can't make our big slow guys fast. Cox should realize this and as annoying as station to station baseball can be, we can't send plodders home from second.

You guys are nutso. If he likes Brian Anderson and respects him for going to college and he's his No. 2 favorite, that's great. The guy likes Brian Anderson. I put Gary Peters No. 2 I guess. I've already forgotten my list. So my No. 2 got GP on the list. I liked him cause I was a litte kid who liked his pitching motion and hitting ability. The guy loves BA. So what if he put him No. 2. Somebody on here may have put Wayne Nordhagen who was a stiff. If they love Wayne they love Wayne more power to 'em. s*** somebody might like BA's batting stance and put him on their list as a favorite.

Wow. That is simply amazing how much the cost of tickets have gone up. Some funny stories in here. Bob it sounds like what you are aching for wouldn't cost that much. You buy 50 baseballs online, used baseballs, and a mitt and a couple bats or one aluminum bat (perish the thought). You advertise on here or wherever for some guys to go to a h.s. field or some field and take batting practice. After the 50 balls are hit, you get exercise running to get them. The only catch. The batter must make sure he pulls the ball. No screamers up the middle or you'll end up in the hospital believe me. BTW our LL manager also wouldn't let us swim. If he saw your eyes were red you were benched. Interesting what Ryan said about guys not throwing enough. I just can't help but think my friend with the powerful arm didn't do it any good busting curves from the age of 10 through 12 on almost a daily basis during the summer months, also in LL games, in Babe Ruth games, then at Bro Rice til he needed surgery.

Gary Peters would roll over in his grave if he was dead, but if ya love Ozuna ya love Ozuna.

Didn't see the game. Is Griffey looking poor in the field? Somebody alluded to it. Would have been very nice to sweep especially against Miner who ain't very good. Two out of three is fine, but the BoSox are coming to town. We better be ready to play. They are damn good as you all know. OC and AJ 0-10 tonight? Yuk. Griffey an oh-fer. Javy not so great. Time to strap 'em up. Minnesota vs. the lousy Royals while we battle the BoSox.

I think he came back for the all Century team or something special. He was honored in some way. He was pretty darn good. Like most all players of his era he didn't make much money playing baseball. I think these guys had to get jobs in the offseason.

I also saw Luzinski and Kittle hit roof shots. My god what blasts. And of course Dick Allen deep liners to cf. The Bull could hit the ball. I forgot about him. He was one of my favorites too. I wonder what he's doing now and how big he is. He was a likeable lug sort of like Kruk only more powerful.

Thanks for the Aug. wallpaper. It's sad to think just a couple more months of regular season baseball. God the seasons fly by.
