You could be right Jake but the Sox can't afford to trot him out there again. Unless the coaches are convinced start No. 4 will be the charm. He hasn't had a quality start yet has he? If they give him start no. 4 I'll assume Oz, KW and Coop see something. But after today I don't know how you could start him again.
-
Jake, for the record i'm not jumping ship; I'm concerned. We ain't been playing good baseball for a couple weeks now. I'm hopeful. I want us to win. I just am concerned especially KC beating us 4 of 6.
-
You can't believe anybody who takes time to post on here wants the Sox to be in second place just to say they were right? We all want the Sox to finish first, preferably with the best record so they could get home field throughought. I don't follow any other team as closely as the Sox so I can't comment on whether they have as many holes as we seem to have the past few weeks. But right now things sure have sucked with KC winning 4 of 6 versus the Sox and this road trip being pretty much a bummer at 4-6. The 1-2 in KC actually is kind of embarrassing following the Minnie disaster. The Richard experiment was a colossal failure at least for this season. The pen has sucked since Morgan jinxed it. The defense has been below average and the starting pitching below average. I know anything can happen in baseball, but don't you all agree the s***tiness against KC signals cause for alarm?

I don't see how anybody could argue with Fathom on that sentiment. They are taking care of business while we are continuing our sometimes good, sometimes bad ways. Like he said, hopefully it'll change.
-
I wonder what Olivo's career stats are against the Sox. It seems to me like so many former Sox, he's pretty much killed us at times. I could be mistaken, but Olivo seems like he feasts on us.
-
I almost feel sorry for Richard. My god have they teed off on him. There is no reason for him to throw another pitch for the big league team again this season. Next candidate, step up, son. Is it gonna be Haeger? I mean is it unanimous here that Richard cannot throw a pitch for the Sox again this season? He is brutal.

8/3 Wsox vs Royals: Richard vs Grienke 1:10
greg775 replied to GoodAsGould's topic in 2008 Season in Review
Royals have been playing us way too tough of late. Is it because we've played them so many times and there are no secrets and they have teed off on a lot of our pitchers or is it our club? I know Detroit came into KC recently and just beat the piss out of KC three straight days. Whatever it is it sucks. I'm assuming Richard has been sent down by the time I type this. -
Benched yes, cut no. Sorry I don't worship Swish like some do on here. Check Oz's quote the other day and he also ripped Swish's batting average, comparing it to Paulie's. Calling me "the same guy" is an insult. You are not the only person with an opinion on baseball. I root for Swish to do well. Do I think he sucks? Yes I do. If he is the hero of September or the WS I'll be the first to say I was wrong.

I understand your post, but like you said dismissing the Twins also didn't help. I think our plodders suck playing indoor baseball and it won't change. Years ago when the Royals were good and they played on astroturf, the Sox had nothing but problems in KC. Blowing a pair of four run leads is really really bad stuff. How can Boone Logan remain on the parent club right now? He's got to be sent down despite the fact the other guys sucked as well. On to KC where it'd be nice to shell the Royals' pitching staff. Probably won't happen. KC is playing better. Vazzy vs. Hochever in the opener. Should be a 10-6 Sox win, but could easily go 10-6 KC's way as well.

7/31 - White Sox @ Minnesota Twins (7:10pm CSN)
greg775 replied to joejoesox's topic in 2008 Season in Review
Great post. Sox sucked during the series. Bullpen was horrible again. Losing 3 of 4 to Twins really really sucks. So we're 3-4 on the trip heading into KC, a team that is very very used to playing us of late and actually playing pretty well after sweeping the A's on the road. Is anybody happy with 1-3 in Minnie? -
I can't believe it's already frickin August. Any August wallpaper yet? Thanks so much for doing the wallpaper every month.
-
Is he a good first baseman? Since Paulie has been worse than Swisher, subbing Griffey for him at first instead of putting him in center might make the most sense. Seems strange to have Paulie on the team and never play him, however.
-
Yes, if he stays healthy their rotation is postseason worthy. It would have been something if we coulda somehow dusted off the Twins like they did the Brewers. Would have been amazing.
-
I'm just wondering who is going to get replaced in this deal. All these veterans; some will see diminished PT and will probably brood. Sorry I don't worship Swish. Thanks for bashing my Swish trade comment and not answering my question.
-
Man you guys are Swish fans. I'm not. ... any official word on Griffey's role and whose PT is diminished?

7/31 - White Sox @ Minnesota Twins (7:10pm CSN)

This would be a huge win. Oops ... said that the last 3 days, but it is a huge game again. A 2-2 split would be dandy. -
So have there been any interviews yet about what the Sox are planning for him? Is he everyday centerfielder tiil he gets hurt and Swish/Paulie rotating at first base? Paulie and Thome rotating at DH? Any reports yet? I wonder why we just didn't trade them Swish for Griffey head up. Somebody's going to be b****ing about playing time after this trade. A positive is human nature will make Griffey want to excel with a new team. Maybe his old cf instincts will take over and he'll do well. He is a Hall of Famer. He must have skills to draw from.

7/30 - White Sox @ Minnesota Twins (7:10pm WCIU)

I would not be thrilled with one win. Minnie isn't THAT good. A split would be nice. 1-3 is not very good. -
If Swisher keeps giving quotes like this, I might learn to love him. Wow. Great stuff. Great win tonight. Gavin comes through in the twinkiedome. If we could win Game Four of the series, that would be a heck of a nice rally after stinking in the first two. 3-3 on the road trip so far. It really would be nice to split with the Twinks. They are pesky, but on paper not that much better if at all better than the Sox.

I don't know why he just doesn't bat him eighth or ninth. -

Huge game for Floyd as you said. We could use a quality start and rock their starter who has not exactly been great this season. Our pitching has been horrible of late. -
Find a post where I haven't admitted Paulie has sucked. I don't condone booing of him or bashing of him because of what he has meant to the franchise. I said Oz should bat him eighth. I am saying it: Paulie has sucked this season. I blame the players. Swish also has sucked. Some of the relievers have been horses*** of late as well as the starters.

What the hell happened to our pitching/defense?

Every thread turns into a Konerko thread. Amazing. We get it. He sucks. -
Bulls***. Oz's strategy with the staff is fine. The starters have to get their head out of their collective asses and go into the seventh inning. If Clayton can't pitch five, don't start him, but you don't get somebody up after a hit and a walk in the fifth if he has a shutout going. I can't believe so many people refuse to blame the players and not the manager. It's so typical arm chair quarterbacking. If players can't produce, including pitchers, don't start them. They have to be able to go at least six innings.

Blame the recession on Paulie. Blame high ticket prices on Paulie. Blame everything on the Devil, Paul Konerko.
