Nick Swisher
Thank you. That is the point I was trying to make. No announcers, etc., ever mentioned on base percentage, though they often would point out if a guy had a good eye and drew some walks. But Swish's current BA would have made him laughable. I commend him for getting on base some. Swish hasn't won me over yet. He did help us win some games that one month and for that I commend him.

White Sox vs. Twins
Do we ever lose just one game when we get beat? I could be way off base but it seems we always lose a couple or three before we get on track again.

White Sox vs. Twins
So we can't be expected to split with the Twins just because it's in Minnesota? I'm saying if they beat us 3 of 4 or 4-4 it says something negative about our team at this stage of the season when the Sox know it's sort of a "statement" series. Yes it's tough to win in Minnie. We need to win 2 of these games.

You think we got hosed on the Swisher deal now? Didn't we trade Sweeney he of the .310 batting average and Gio for him?

White Sox vs. Twins
The earthquake is making national news. How bad was it? What's it like to be in an earthquake? On paper, today's game is a massive blowout for the Twins. Hopefully that means we'll win. If they keep kicking our ass, this is a bad sign. The Yankees beat the s*** out of Minnesota just last week. The Twins are not THAT good. If they sweep us or win 3-4 it does say something negative about our team.

Nick Swisher
I agree. Swisher is lucky he plays in an era where every stat is monitored. He'd have been run out of town back in the day when batting average was the biggest stat for a hitter and not on base percentage. The guy's batting average is a joke. But he draws walks so some will slobber over him all season. It's an unwinnable argument for Dick. I agree with everything Dick Allen has been saying about Swish. And yes Konerko has been equally bad or worse. Paulie's home run totals are so low it does indicate something is way wrong. I still say he should bat eighth the rest of the year or be traded for a change of scenery , not booed. Somebody who has time on their hands should compare Swisher's stats to his dad's. Steve Swisher couldn't hit either. I wonder if Steve also drew a lot of walks.

Coop to Boone "Get your head out of your butt"
Funny how the young guys get called out like that. Coop would be in a world of hurt if he said that about Javy. Or if Oz said that about Paulie. Wait ... Oz could probably get away with that though Paulie would probably be hurt.

And That's A White Sox Loser
2-2 on the important road trip. Need to somehow win 2 of the next 3. Gonna be tough in the baggiedome.

Positive Paulie Thread
Paulie needs to be Billy Butler-ized. A couple weeks rehab stint in AAA to get his swing back. Or he needs to relax or see a shrink or ... something. Swisher also sucks ass right now. The man is hitting what .220? Oh, he gets walks. Good for Swish. Hopefully we'll somehow win with the rookie tomorrow and Paulie will hit 2 bombs and Swisher will get 4 hits. I can dream.

Positive Paulie Thread
We also cannot survive with our starters pitching like this, with Swisher sucking at the plate and playing a very mediocre D in center field, with OC not playing like he did when we were red hot. Paulie may suck but he's not the only one of late. Personally I'd bat him eighth.

And That's A White Sox Loser
It definitely couldn't have been a worse start to the series barring somebody getting hurt. Offense has been doing well and we can't get a run off Slowey?? Mark stunk by Mark's standards. They kicked our ass. Team has stunk before and come back. It might be a wise idea to get down and dirty the rest of the series if we hope to get a 2-2 split. Wonder how Oz will react to that awful baseball game. Twins are amazing. Yankees beat the s*** out of them and they don't quit. They win last 2 vs. Cleveland and now kick our ass and get the upper hand with 3 games left in the series.

Sox @ Twins 7-28
I am not an alarmist but I wouldn't argue with your comment there. Change isn't all bad. Kudos to the Brewers for getting a big deal done a week or so BEFORE the deadline.

Sox @ Twins 7-28
Whatever ... if you've only predicted Game Over tonight, then I salute you. I'm saying a lot of people say Game Over in the fourth or fifth and we wind up winning. Congratulations. You probably were right tonight.
-
Sox @ Twins 7-28
I'm just saying, if you say "Game Over" in the fifth, man up and ban yourself for a week if the Sox come back to win. Yeah tonight they probably are toast, but it's stupid to say it's over in the fourth or fifth inning of any game.
-
Sox @ Twins 7-28
Probably tonight. If you'd have posted that in several other games of late, you'd have looked like a fool.
-
Sox @ Twins 7-28
I'm not saying we're going to rally and win but IMO anybody who posts that a game is over should be banned for a week if the Sox rally and win. It probably won't be tonight, but how many times have people deemed games over when we rally and win?
-
Sox @ Twins 7-28
That probably would earn Ozzie what Mariotti wants. His firing. No managers do that s***. Good managers keep their cool during the games at least, except in unleashing fury at umpires.
-
Sox @ Twins 7-28
Then bench him, trade him or send him down. I personally would bat him 8th.
-
Sox @ Twins 7-28
For not sprinting on a tap to the pitcher? Get real. If Oz and KW think Paulie is toast, then bench him or send him down like the Royals did Billy Butler for a week or two. But if he's mad at him for not hauling ass on a tap to the mound, get real. Ozzie's done an incredible job to get this team this far over .500.
-
Sox @ Twins 7-28
We might all despise the Twins after this series. Like somebody said, unless the Sox man up, it's gonna be ugly. I wouldn't go to a baseball game in a dome if I had free seats in the front row with all the beer you could drink.

Let's give it up
I'm not supporting Javy, but I have a question: What pitchers in baseball today are strong mentally?? I think we judge our own harsher than others. There are no complete game pitchers anymore. Has anybody watched enough games of all pitchers to tell me who is tough mentally?? I just hope our pitchers get their heads out of their asses or we aren't going to make the playoffs.

KW not likely to make impact deals
Has Kenny said this? When in the past have we had our regular starters miss starts for rest purposes?? And as far as how big a lead we can maintain? The lead has not been big for quite some time now and I can't see it getting real big. I mean anything under 8 games is not that big. Let's say heaven forbid we lose 4 straight to Minnie and Detroit smokes Cleveland. They'd be right back within 3 games as well. Tons of season left.

LOSS: Chicago 4-6 Detroit
Winning game one would be nice. It always is nice to win the first game in the other team's park. Did you guys sense a lack of caring in Hawk and DJ today? It was like we won the first two and that was all that mattered. Indeed winning the series is all that ultimately matters, but I thought with the pitching matchup in our favor and our bats alive of late, it was prime sweep time. One at a time, White Sox. Win that opener on Monday!

Manny Ramirez
If the AL keeps trading stars to the NL like CC and Manny, won't the NL eventually get good again?
-
Let's give it up
I don't sense anybody is totally burying Javy. You've got to admit he's been pretty bad of late and gives up a lot of dingers. Somebody said he needed some balls or whatever. He definitely needs to get it going. Assuming Jose is finished ... if he keeps pitching like this, it's going to be tough to win the division or wildcard.
