  1. This begs the question: What do we get out of Davis. I know for a fact the guy can't hit and will never hit. But can he catch and throw. Anybody out there know? I respect all of your comments. Somebody must know if Ben can at least throw and catch. Cause he cannot hit.
  2. Timo did a lot to win me over today. That is cool he sprinted to the outfield and had his hand up. That is awesome. That home run was nice, too. Timo was great today in all regards.
  3. Props to Politte. We need him obviously. Hope he keeps blowing people away.
  4. It's all up to Freddie now. What he's done in the past doesn't mean squat. He's 0-0, 0.00 trying to be our No. 2 starter and lead us to the playoffs. If we don't make it, he's failed and KW has failed.
  5. Great line by Super Steve. I laughed out loud. Jeckle, I don't love the trade, but calm down. If Freddie pitches like a No. 1 starter he's gonna help us win the division and maybe even perk up Esteban who has been great but getting hit a bit. I think we gave up too much, and don't like the trade, but if this guy can dominate the rest of the season, he could give us some real hope. p.s. you've been a fan since 12; how old are you?
  6. Teahen was the A's best prospect.. Mark Wood was like 11 - 3 with a 2.87 ERA in AA... and John Buck was hitting like .338 with 19 HR's in the Astros AAA KC got everything they wanted, and they are all good prospects... Wait a minute. Buck was hitting .300 with 12 hrs. Yes, Teahan is good. Wood was 11-3 at sacramento like you said.
  7. Let's trade Freddie and Ben Davis now for Olivo, Reed and that ss. Seriously, if all of you were 100 percent sure we couldn't resign Freddie, would you reverse the trade right now? I would. p.s. I'm hoping Freddie pitches SO WELL, clemens-like, that we don't care what we ended up giving up down the line. Hopefully that will be the case if he is a complete stud.
  8. Tizzle's post is awesome! 100 percent agreement. Good point Jugger. Miguel wasn't catching every day. I'd catch whomever has the best arm right now even if the guy hits .150. If Davis has the best chance of throwing somebody out I would go with him every day the rest of the year even if he hits .099.
  9. I put don't like it cause I have no confidence we'll resign Fred. Donkey in my opinion said it all: "Reed was a prospect I understand, but I think Olivo was more than a prospect. We filled a big need on this team but created another one by dumping Miguel." If we resign Fred and he does well KW deserves GM of the year. If he walks after this season, we gave up way too much.
  10. What is means right now is we have no catcher. Agreed?
  11. I agree with Brando. Too much for a rental player. Joe Morgan just said it is "dangerous" game we're playing acquiring a guy that could walk. I mean we're probably not going to pay Maggs, what makes everybody think we're going to pay Garcia?
  12. You said: 1) if we resign Garcia, its a good deal 2) if we win a World Series, I don't care if Olivo is the second coming of Fisk. 3) what'd you expect Seattle to take? A few AA guys, a bag of Starbucks coffee, and some Chicago-style pizza? I would agree with 1 and 2. But I think 3.) should read, if we don't win the division, KW is fired. I think we could have gotten Garcia without giving up Olivo. I mean look at what the Royals got for Beltran??
  13. Jugger I agree we need another starter, but we're also in the s***tiest of s*** divisions and I don't think we needed to part with Olivo to get Garcia. Especially when we have no suitable catcher. Ben Davis is a joke. I have followed his career. I mean if we have a hole at catcher now and in the future what good is it filling the other hole on the mound? I just think we overpaid. I hope Freddie dominates but it seems stupid to overpay. That's my take.
  14. I loved reading every post. All the Sox fans are gonna miss Olivo. And deservedly so. We are going to regret giving up that gun of an arm, but everybody here already knows that. We didn't need to trade Olivo, folks. Seattle's GM has to be getting drunk now. He got Reed and Olivo. Amazing. We loved ya Miguel. And I think you will be an all-star.
  15. Everybody's assuming Garcia is going to pitch well. Sure hope that assumption is a damn good one.
  16. We panicked and overpaid. Good GMs trade horses*** prospects to teams willing to deal a Garcia. We traded Olivo and Reed. Ben Davis is pure horses*** by the way. That guy is hopeless. Let's see if we can win with no catcher, now.
  17. I thought this was an automatic loss. Thank goodness our guys stepped up to break Zamby's streak.
  18. You said: Valentin couldn't be traded for a bucket of bad water drank by camels. Good line, but I can't see why some hate Jose V. so much. I mean Clayton was and is worthless. Valentine is a damn good player who is a difference maker. He's won us a lot of games.
  19. Ten in a row is a good one. I was way wrong on the streak issue. We need one of those this year or else need to dominate the Twins the rest of games against them.
  20. next year as in he actually stays on the club the whole year or at least starts on the club at the begining of the season gotcha, my bad.
  21. Shuf said: "My dad says it best million dollar talent, and a brain worth s***." Now we know why you cuss so much if dad taught you well. Just kidding but the sophomoric cussing does come across as a drunken rant. I agree with the Reinsdork comments, but the rest of your rants are bandwagon jumping of the cliched degree. You did proclaim the Sox had so much heart after the Montreal game and now you again say they have no heart. I'm sure you liked Lee when he was hitting in 28 straight games. I agree about Gload and also hate Reinsdork, but I think with Maggs we have a pretty OK team, albeit streaky. Without him I think we suck. The bottom line is Reinsdork sucks, but if you were running the team there would be NO payroll cause you'd fire the manager after every tough week and have a roster that totally turned over every week. Reinsdork does suck, tho!!!
  22. They're all big, but I understand what you are saying. What's our longest win streak this season. We haven't put together a monumental win streak the past two or three years, have we?
  23. Next year? He's in the rotation this year. Jeckle, good job sticking by your guy. I wish I could have seen the game. Sounds like he pitched well and we sure needed it!!
  24. Nice post. Excellent points I feel. You said: I absolutely hate the idea that KW and Ozzie havent wanted to call up Reed or Borchard in order to give Gload and Timo more time. --Me too. You said: If Borchard is not better than Gload is right now, then trade his ass before he's 35 years old. --I agree 100 percent. I mean if he's not better than Gload, why is he still in our organization. How can anybody argue his point about Rowand also? Our talent is down, but I still say with Maggs we are a 10 over .500 team. Without him 10 to 20 below .500. First, the talent level on the Sox is terrible right now. If the Sox arent facing a lefty or a running team, Olivo should not be in the lineup. He's clueless against righty pitchers. Also, Rowand leading off is a good idea vs lefties. However, he should be way down in the lineup vs righties. You play the players that can excel best at that position. . Just look at the talent gap between the Sox and Cubs right now. I hate those f***ers from the northside, but their lineup is 5 times more talented than the Sox is.
  25. The scouting report on Uribe is pretty simple. He doesn't take a walk, so throw it out of the zone and he'll swing at it. If this is true, he better change. You gotta take some walks or you are doomed as a player.
