  1. You are simply wrong. Royce deserves all the bashing he gets. He completely sucked the first half of his first season in Chicago and ruined our team basically. We screwed with Valentin all for this stiff named Royce Clayton. He was an awful, awful, awful offensive player and was an ass in the clubhouse. I hope he hits .400 this year. I will still say I'm glad he's gone. The guy was a frickin stiff!!!!!!
  2. I'd start Mark B., but it's nice that Mark doesn't care. No controversy is good. It sounds like we'll have a better clubhouse this season. Hopefully the team will be a fun unit and actually battle all season.
  3. Play Olivo. He can't do any worse than some of the stiffs we've opened the season with under KW. Who was that outfielder that one year that went 1-for-30 or so. I forget his name, but he was such a stiff.

good story. we sure need this guy to produce. I just do not like Sandy and hope he doesn't have to catch much.

I think Frank will do well, but he was so clueless at the plate at times last year. He was lost. We definitely need a star season from Frank
  6. Screw Griffey. No way I make that trade. Maggs should be here the next 15 years.
  7. Good post Big Hurt. It's wild that you didn't think anything about it being bad til you heard the radio complaints. I have a good friend who goes to a lot of games who insists Sox Park is not bad at all. He said he had wonderful seats in the low part of the upper deck. He likes Cell park a lot. I've seen a couple games there since I live in KC area now, but unfortunately for me I had to watch them in the skyboxes on each occasion. I have the plastic-ness of skyboxes. Put me in the stands of old Comiskey!
  8. Great post about 2b, ss, cf and catcher being question marks. They say you have to be strong up the middle to win and on paper we aren't very solid up the middle. I like Jose V of course, but I don't know about Jiminez. I think Harris is a stiff. I trust you all that Olivo will be good. I like Rowand myself. Last year proved we can't get too excited even if we have a good April.
  9. I wish we hadn't signed Alomar. Let's make Sandy a coach.
  10. great article. I agree Ray Ray was not a great leadoff hitter.
  11. Olivo could really be a vital kog in our season. If he's as good as you say and I do believe you chisoxfan n others, we will be in great shape. We need a stud catcher. His minor league stats sound great. I say let him catch and have Alomar support him daily and catch maybe one of every four games. Let Alomar catch Colon or something.
  12. Not to be too nostalgic, but home runs at old Comiskey were a thing to behold, especially when there was a big crowd. The ball would smack off the upper deck facade and be really neat to see ... and hear. I sure hope the Cell will become a better ballpark with the improvements. Here's a question: Rank our ballpark with all others in the AL. Where does our park stand?
  13. Don't trade Rauch.
  14. I saw Amos Otis hit a bomb in Comiskey that landed in that section to the right of the cf bleachers. It was a very small area of bleachers as I recall. And I saw Dick Allen hit a cannon that Harry Caray said was the farthest homer he'd ever seen hit. It might have been the one you were talking about in cf.
  15. Do we want this guy? It seems to me we may not need him now that we have Colon. But I guess Garland would be a good No. 4 pitcher and Wright No. 5?
  16. I agree. Let MB say what he wants. He's been great and is a team player. It would be nice for Colon to start and dominate on opening day, but all in all, I agree Mark B deserves it. We should reward our ace and make Colon earn his Sox stripes. Think about it. Mark B has been here; Colon has not.
  17. Nice column. Very nice. I'd have to say I tend to agree with the column writer and agree with the guy who wants Beltran. I think we should try to STEAL Beltran from the Royals. They are a joke right now. Give them 6 minor league stiffs. Six of em. They need pitching bodies badly.
  18. Sandy is no good in my opinion. He can only hit singles and like you all said the poor guy is crippled basically. Hopefully he's here to support Olivo. That said, can Olivo hit? Or is he no good?
  19. I want to know if the money will go into the team or JR's pocketbook? If it makes us a better team, I'm all for it. If I was the Trib and Sun Times, however, I would NEVER refer it to as Cellular Park field or whatever. I'd skip the name of the ballpark in ALL stories! It is wrong.
  20. We could get him but the Royals will want 5 minor leaguers I betcha. The Royals want no payroll so if we can find 5 stiffs to send them it mite work. They cant afford to pay anybody!
  21. Nice. Our clubhouse should be much much improved!
  22. Good point chisoxfan. I need to go to the opener if KU isn't in the Final Four. That will be neat to see the Sox play the Royals in a meaningful game. I think I'll even be able to still get a press pass even though we don't cover the piss poor Royals much anymore. I used to probably do 20 Royals games a year. Now zippo, except the opener.
  23. Great point Baggs. I think that something is Big Frank, though I shudder when I say that.
  24. greg775 replied to Molto's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just what I hoped to hear Molto! Good news. I like picking him up.
  25. I hope Mark B starts, but I don't think it's that big a deal. Is Colon a primma donna or a team player? Will he go in a funk if he doesn't start? Mark B seems like a true team player to me. Mark is one of my favorite players. My top three on the Sox. a.) Maggs. B) Jose V (the old Jose V before the position switch messup of his mind). c.) Mark B.
