Postgame: Eloy Reigns! (White Sox winner)
The Jose haters will never change. They for the most part are the new age stat people who, when they think of Jose, think of somebody who has horrible advanced stats thus needs to be traded now. The HRs and RBI pretty much mean nothing. In the new era, he's ancient at 32. He's also been around one team too long and it's soon gonna be time for a mysterious new name: Vaughn or Collins to play first, Eloy to DH leaving no room for Abreu. I'll say one thing that will disappoint new wavers in this scenario. Guess what? Eloy is going to play LF a long time. He's not going to be DH even though some of you are demanding it.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
It just drives me crazy. It's like the stat people just have to prove how smarter they are than traditional stat peeps by insisting Jose blows. They find an advanced stat and won't consider homers and RBIs at all. I've said it before I worship Jose Abreu in the baseball sense of the word and considering my disdain for what I consider a cheap owner, I wouldn't be upset if we signed him four years at 16 mill a year. Again it's not my cash. I think a fair deal would be 3 years 39 million. Jose is a masher!

Great picture. They say newspapers are dying but where else can you get such a special picture and such a special headline? Jump for Eloy is a special hedline.

I love fathom but cmon; he's way more negative and positive in the game threads where he posts the most. I worship fathom but this is silly praise IMO.

What a game. This is not hyperbole. Eloy will own this city a long time if he can stay healthy. Hahn will go down in history as one of the stars in Chicago front office history over one trade. Might as well give Hahn a lifetime contract. You steal a man mountain like this ... you get the rewards baby. Eloy is that special. At any rate, no negativity tonight. Just enjoy Sox fans. Think of how mad those Cub fans are leaving this game because of ELOY!!!!!

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
That's just wrong. He's not a dime a dozen. He knocks in runs in bunches and hits for way better than average power. Why not 3 years? He's probably lying about his age so three years would be fine. Hopefully win it all in year 3 of his deal, then maybe sign him for pennies if he's still producing. Give him his 3 years 30 mill total.

Former Sox updates (Avi, etc)
Have u seen Davidson is still whacking home runs? How bout re-acquiring him and letting him DH platoon with Palka?

I can buy that. I'm not against the Sox trying to pay the going rate for Jose. Is that 3/27? That'd be fine with me, too.

Does Ricky deserve manager of the year?
No sir. My assessment is based on W/L record and reports players like him and he speaks Spanish. For instance, why hire Omar (I'm convinced he'll be the replacement)? Rick is experienced. He did not just learn baseball yesterday. True he loves the bunt but that can be solved if the front office analysts and GM Hahn order him to cut it out. So except for the bunt, he's fine and dandy. Speaks Spanish, players love him, has a .500 mark with a very very blah roster. Again, his grade for this season is A. Not A-minus. But A. I wish fans would at least give him that. His weakness? The bunt, pure and simple. As far as picking the wrong relievers, etc., do u not think Cooper talks to Ricky all the time and suggests moves all the time? Why do we blame RR for the reliever decisions. Coop is a hands on pitching coach. Coop runs the damn staff. Blame Coop. I will not cry if Rick R is fired. But I will shake my head when he's fired for Omar.

Why? I'd go three years 36 million. Sox have the money and three years is about right if he's lied about his age. Nobody's probably going 3/45. I'd go 3/36 or maybe even 3/39. Do it now. Why not?

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
Vile: Many fans aren't like us. They think we are the illogical ones and the idiots. You and me like to go to a game and win and be happy on that given day, not dreaming of losing and getting some draft pick. Quite frankly fans like you and me are the exception on the board rather than close to the majority. I still get pissed the nights we lose although I will admit Hahn has gotten me very very very used to losing. It's not a good feeling that I have been conditioned to expecting losses.

Find the old thread. Peeps penciled in Rutherford as a future RF star. And even were pumped about Tito Polo. Some people loved Rutherford as a prospect.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
I love you Vile. Keep posting. Remember I approve of your posts so much. I've said this for years, how deflating it would be to be a person to finally go to a Sox game and have it be 9-0 in the third inning. Many of us want our team to win no matter what. Personally if we had 45 wins going into September I'd still want to win every single game. I despise the draft.

Collins getting called up
Eloy's batting average is low but we're not supposed to care about BA. He's hit a good number of homers and driving in a plethora of runs. Love Eloy.

Cool that you never thought of him as high upside. Much of this board did, doing backflips when we acquired Rutherford who should never be confused with (Babe) Ruth.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
The folks who I call the "trade people" or the "trade lovers" don't give a flip about the closer the rest of the season. If it helps us lose batches of games to get a better draft pick, they are all for it. Why? Cause they feel we don't have a team worthy of winning it all without sweating. They wanna keep acquiring prospects til on paper we have a team expected to win 100 to 105 games and roll through the playoffs. Meanwhile I care deeply about your questions about who will close this year and next if we dump Colome for some top 100 prospect who will never make the bigs.

Some on this board never gave up on Jones. I never wish injuries on anybody but with him you could see how he'll get hurt over and over. His pitching mechanics should have been fixed long ago. Some of the worst motion I've ever seen.

Job Thread
Definitely got to look out for yourself. Even good companies will go bad if they see they have a worker they can take advantage of.

Does Ricky deserve manager of the year?
Thanks Colinski. I like all the new blood on the board. The new blood has a few people that tolerate/like Greg very well. I've been pretty much despised much of the time in the past. You make a great point about the bunting obviously. I'm not a fan of it. When I see it I freak out like the rest of the board. Not a fan of giving up the out. And a lot of times we can't even get the bunt down. Bunt truly is a 4 letter word, but I'd be OK with keeping Ricky if he keeps this up.

The argument to keep Avi Garcia
If Jon Jay gets any at bats with the Sox, that will be sad. There's no need for the guy on our team.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
Love it! Great post. McCann blows in the eyes of the stat people. They should stand by that and speak out while we (not saying you Balta, you may like new age stats) praise him from our eye test and tradition stat tests.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
Nice post! I get a kick out of seeing people pick one advanced stat and mock the traditional stats when they dislike a player. And then with Gio suddenly they cite wins and losses cause he's so good in wins and losses right now. I mean I worship Gio like Abreu, but it's funny how the advanced stat people know exactly what they are doing. Long live HRs and RBIs Mr. Abreu.
