  1. Are u serious? He will be a GM forever after stealing Eloy. Again ... it would be like acquiring Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Dave Winfield when they were 23. When you make a special trade you stick around.
  2. I would rather have Colome and McCann. McCann has convinced me he's a damn fine ballplayer and unselfish. Colome has done a fine job. But at this point I don't wanna trade either!!
  3. Look, we acquired Colome for Omar. Omar is having a fantastic season. At this point, Omar has probably been just as valuable to Seattle as Colome to the Sox. Now the Sox want youth for Colome. Yes, he's probably worth two Rutherford type players. The question is: Will those 2 Rutherford type players ever contribute to the big league Sox. Maybe. Probably 50/50. So go ahead and trade him for 2 young guys so the segment of our fanbase that loves prospects is satisfied. Fans like me have to concede he "might" bring 1-2 prospects that at least have a 50/50 chance or 40/60 of being big leaguers. That's worth the gamble to those who love rebuilds. Then in the offseason you look for the next closer type and continue the cycle.
  4. That is true but Eloy is so special it puts Hahn in a special class of GM. Probably will go down as one of the biggest mistakes Cubs ever made in dealing him.
  5. I agree with that. He's part of the advanced stat crowd that is trying to build a team that is so powerful that it will run away with division titles and be overwhelming favorite to win the WS rather than have teams that can simply win it. However you shouldn't really hate anything about Hahn cause of one word: Eloy. He was not part of the Sox organization and Hahn was able to steal him away from the Cubs.
  6. I've said it before I'll say it again. Hahn is a White Sox GM forever or as long as he wants to be. Acquiring Eloy is that significant. If Gio and Cease and Eloy stay healthy he may go down as the greatest GM in Chicago sports history. All he has to do is acquire 2 veteran starters and one reliever and one outfielder and he's ready for postseson play.

You'd think the union would have employees' backs. Stuff happens n people are 10 minutes late. Can't u stay 10 minutes later than normal to make up for it? I think generation X and the millennials will fix this 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. obsession in business. You can' be just as productive working irregular hours.
  8. Nice hit, James. Would be something if we could score more.
  9. This is it. Sox need 3 or 4 this inning to have a chance at thrilling this big crowd.
  10. Would be neat if we could win 3 of 4 vs NYY.
  11. Man, the Sox are getting clubbed tonight. We're one grand slam away from Davidson pitching. Oops, he's gone. Wonder if he's playing for anybody. Holy bleep I found him. He has 17 homers in AAA this year. matt baby!
  12. This post should be MEMORIZED by all Sox fans. Why is this so hard for people to consider?? He is right. If you think Bummer and Colome are good enough to help next season you don't trade them. You'll just have to find replacements. Ditto Abreu, McCann, any of our good players. We are .500. In the old days we'd be figuring out a way to get the wild card NOW in 2019. Unfortunately fans want to build a team there's no doubt it'll cruise to a minimum of the AL championship. No longer do we want to find a way into the playoffs cause fans assume we'll lose. Nobody wants to compete anymore, catch lightning in the postseason and WIN IT ALL as the wild card. GREAT BALTA POST!!!
  13. Do I dare bring up my pal in Tampa Bay? Imagine his production in our lineup? I do realize he constantly has hammy problems. I wish trainers would help him out more with that.
  14. I didn't start the thread. But if we remain .500 at the all star break, a lot of people assess grades at that point. The grade, folks, for Rick Renteria would be A if we are .500 at the break. I don't even see how you would give him an A-minus if we are .500. Every manager makes tactical errors that anger the smarter fans. In Rick's case, the W/L's are very important considering the roster. A .500 record in this specific case would give him an A. OK, manager of the year contender may be going a little far. I sense some don't even want to say that at this point he deserves an A for his work this season.
  15. Love Hibbard's advanced stats about Abreu. Haters ignore Hibbard proving Abreu is not only productive to the non Sabes lovers (me, who loves his HRs and RBIs) as well as advanced stat lovers. I wish people would let Abreu be and let him be Abreu. His batting average will sink (don't know why stat lovers are looking at BA anyway) and it will go up. He knocks in a lot of runs; I'm still not sure why stat lovers hate the traditional RBI stat. It seems a sign of production to me.
  16. Good post. You could leave the game completely alone or tinker. There are two big proposed changes meant to combat Sabes a bit, the elimination of the shift and making relievers face more than one hitter. I agree with you that the purist doesn't want to touch the game, but something has to be done. A movie is 1:50 or 2 hours normally, maybe 2:10 if it's got a director who can't cut much stuff. Nine inning baseball games shouldn't be going 3:15. It's fun to stay for the whole game but 3 hours is dumb. I guess I could take it if they don't change the reliever rule or the shift rule if the umps would call the strikezone which is in the rulebook. Umps won't abide by the current rules, they created their own strikezone. If umps agreed to calling the correct strikezone and we had a rule hitters could not leave the batters box once they got in, I'd be OK leaving the shift and letting relievers face just one hitter.
  17. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and assume somebody just missed it this time. Probably had the weekend crew working on a Friday night. Eloy's six RBI's can't be ignored, had to be a mistake or something overlooked via human error.
  18. Eloy baby. Jose! Gio! Ricky! Mr. Hahn, get the team a couple starters and another bat (oh how I wish we had you know who). Nice job Sox. .500 is pretty nice midway through June. The Cell is not dead this weekend. Lotta fans. Love Bennetti for agreeing with me as well.

I'd love to hear some stories about the 8 a.m. start of the day and the 5 p.m. end of the day. Is this still a thing? Where bosses pull this crap Jack mentioned? Like if you get in at 8:06 and it's a major deal? Anybody have horror stories? I can't even imagine as a grown person getting lit up for arriving at 8:03 a.m. My question is: Do any of you have horror stories like Jack about getting chewed out over say 10 minutes here and there? I would think an employee would start working on the resume any time such a butt chewing happened. Seems silly to me. I would guess in Chicagoland where there's tons of traffic it has to be really tricky trying to make it thru traffic and accidents, etc. I'd think you'd always have to plan for an extra hour (ugh) just to make sure you get there in time when there's snow, traffic, accidents on the highway, etc.
  20. OK, not to brag but Jason just said what greg has said about Eloy and the all star game!!!! What do u say to that?? Geezus some people think I have no knowledge at all. Jason Bennetti just said what I said!!! I'll leave before I get in trouble but return to see your apology! GO SOX!
  21. If he hadn't gotten hurt he'd prolly have 15 HRs. And isn't there another couple weeks before the players are picked? Hmmm....
  22. My other lovable Avi baby is leading off tonight for T. Bay. Two ribbies.
  23. You are supposed to market young stars, sir. What's wrong with my take? Chicago is a big market. Market those 2 future stars.
  24. I wonder why I love so many players/coaches that u guys hate. Wish I could join the majority at some point.
