  1. Trade him to Tampa for scraps so they can make him an "opener."
  2. Why is Delmonico a prospect? I don't despise the guy but DFA seems in his future.
  3. Yonder reaches on an error. Big break after hitting into shift. Nice to see Castillo come through. 1-0.

Man, I missed that interview rant. That is so offensive it's insane. This organization is cheap beyond belief. It's almost like they get the payroll over a certain amount to not be completely embarrassed. How else can you explain the wasted millions on Alonso, Jay, Nate Jones, and that starting pitcher we already cut. Without Alonso and Jay the payroll is really down there for a club worth $1 billion. (Please sell, Jerry).
  5. Man, you are a great Sox fan to remember those guys. They weren't exactly superstars by the time they got to the Sox.
  6. I hope they release Covey soon. Q: If somehow Covey made it through the lineup once without allowing a run, would you take him out? As much as I despise openers, he stands no chance getting guys out a second time.
  7. I disagree. This is all mumbo jumbo cliche talk. You get enough good players in a lousy division, you contend. Even this year. We have about half very good hitters in our lineup and 4-5 who are ridiculously bad. Our rotation is overacheiving and the bullpen is hot and cold. Even with all that, we are near .500. If we had Avi (in my opinion) in the lineup it'd be that much better and you make a couple free agent pitching signings and voila ... Sox are competing. Look at Minnesota's roster and their "plan." You tell me why they are excelling. Stuff happens. It's up to the front office to do its job and win without 5-7 years of "tanking." Makes me so mad. As far as how you end up trading Tatis for Shields. Just a bad bad call by the talent evaluators. You didn't need to trade Tatis to get somebody like Shields. That was just poor work by the front office and IMO had nothing to do with trying to compete now. Again, go ahead and acquire Shields for crap. Not a fine prospect.
  8. I don't call you crazy. When I see this flawed roster so close to .500 and I realize once again our division blows, I want to WIN. This tanking thing is against everything I stand for. Can't believe I'm still a Sox fan but it's in the blood, though the blood is thinning. You aren't crazy. In my opinion you are right as am I. Win and win every year!
  9. The Sox are swimming in money. Sometimes it's just the right thing to do to keep a player who actually has proven he's a big league hitter. And Fathom said he's now a good fielder. The Sox signed John Jay and Alonso for gosh sakes. Arguably one Avi is better than both of those stiffs. Just.Pay.Avi.
  10. The Tatis deal eventually will get Hahn fired. Unless perhaps it was KW who demanded the deal. You can't make a trade like that and survive. Just as taking Oden instead of Durant eventually felled the GM that took Oden. Can't overcome such blunders even though all GMs wanted Oden.
  11. Think Banuelos needs surgery or anything? I don't wish that on him.
  12. Great post. I am a huge Avi fan and get too defensive at times.
  13. Glad you asked. Let's say for the sake of argument you and I are fighting to win our argument regarding Avi. You can't blanketly erase his production this season by simply suggesting he wouldn't have been putting up the same numbers in his old locale. That's not an argument that makes any sense. He got hurt a lot in Chicago. Are we to assume there is something about right field in Chicago that would have caused him to stumble and pull a hammy or the basepaths are watered such he'd pull a hammy? No, we can't assume that. If what you are saying is true, and you quote, win this argument, people should shut up about Tatis. Cause we can only assume he'd have stunk had he been in our organization; or we couldn't assume he'd be worth anything if he were still a Sox. Your argument cannot be implemented. It's Avi's current production to be looked at, not a hypothetical that he might be hurt in Chicago. That's not how arguments work.
  14. PTATC I think you are my favorite poster and I respect your medical ability and knowledge. Very surprised at this take. Wake up call? Just 2 seasons ago didn't he hit .335? He hustled his ass off. Wake up call? I disagree he needed any wake up call.
  15. Thanks Harper! Great post. The guy hits a monster homer tonight. Bless u Avi!
  16. With all due respect this is unfair and in greg's opinion, a very poor take. We're to the point we hate Avi so much we just decide, 'Ah he was no good he wouldn't be doing that in Chicago.' That was a BOMB. I worship Avi and congratulate him for that blast. The guy was run out of town by a front office that didn't respect him and fans who don't respect their own (not everybody, but many). I mean Avi Garcia when healthy is a very very very good hitter. Yes he gets hurt which seemingly a lotta players do. Love you Avi Garcia. You don't make a ton of money but enough you and your family are all set for life 10 times over.
  17. Suns tanked the whole season! To get the No. 6 pick! LOL LOL LOL. I wish baseball could penalize teams for tanking like this. Good luck at No. 6 in one of the weakest drafts ever. LOL.
  18. Was there really 18,000? That's a pretty damn fine crowd for a Tuesday afternoon.
  19. Ozney Guillen and Kenny Williams, Jr.

I think this all matters not. Rodon's injury throws him into the category of "Just Another Guy." Doesn't matter where he was drafted. There's no reason to trade him. Why would any team acquire him just to help him through rehab time?? You just thrust him into the background of a player that "if he ever gives us something, fine." He's certainly no longer to be considered a can't miss prospect or even a good prospect. He has to come back from surgery. He's one of those guys now, not worth discussing anymore. Who the heck would want him via trade? That's just absurd to think another GM is thinking, "I know, I'll trade for that Rodon guy just in case he recovers well from surgery and gets good again."
  21. This Banuelos guy is not MLB caliber IMO. Sox should issue refund tickets for today. Why not? Give out some tix for September games if you sat through today's borefest.
  22. No way they are going to cut him. He's getting paid a lot of money and also he's a veteran. A lot of vet sluggers aren't cold weather hitters and it'd be stupid to just release him before he has a chance to go on a tear in hot weather. (Caveat here: not that I'm an Alonso supporter. I do not want him on my team, but I see no way Sox just cut him; I mean I know we got money to burn but that's outright dumb after a month and a half).
  23. I'd have thought greg wrote this sentence. I usually write that type of sentence.
  24. Were there really 19,000 fans there for a Tuesday day game? And why did we play a Tuesday day game in mid May? Weird.
  25. I need to spit out my 12 dollar soft drink. Only in baseball can a rebuild be done as cheaply as possible when the owner is swimming in cash. Ah the non sequitirs of life (sell it, Jerry, you can get 1 billion for it; sell to somebody).
