  1. Excellent post. Except for the third sentence. I never bought into the rebuild. Hate every minute of it. Folks, you don't have to totally rebuild/tank in the pathetic Central Division. I mean get good enough to contend and win it 2 to 3 out of every five years and see what happens in the playoffs.
  2. Can somebody into stats look this one up? How many "blowouts" have the Sox suffered this season compared to all other teams? And how bout looking it up from last season. I would venture to guess it's not hyperbole to suggest the Sox since the end of the Robin era get blown out of games more often than any other team. It's ridiculous. Poor Bennetti and Stoney often have to start talking about stuff other than the game in the early innings. You know if the Sox were halfway competitive Hawk never would have considered retiring. I know, Hawk is a granddad and all that, but he hadn't seen truly bad baseball like this in a long long time. Mentally he probably simply couldn't go on, especially since he got crabby whenever his color announcer tried to offer anything.
  3. You really do need a skipper who speaks Spanish. It's unfair to the guys who can't speak English if you have some stodgy old guy who can't speak Spanish (unless his name is Leyland or LaRussa). So bring Omar in now! Ricky is the scapegoat No. 1.
  4. That should be interesting. Cause usually I figure the players have it made and they realize it and there's no reason to strike. But this current system is kind of anti player. They are stuck with the one team for how many years is it? A lotta years where they aren't making a lot of money. Can you imagine if the players got it changed to where they could be unrestricted free agents after 2 seasons or something? Owners wouldn't be able to help themselves and third-year players would be making 50 or more mill a year. I would think the players may have to strike this time.
  5. I'm thinking most fans won't be singing this tune this season. If the Sox management feels this way again this season, I just hope we have embarrassingly low attendance figures all season. Please, fans, stay away!! Go to one game if you have to (like I will try to do just to see the Cell and have a corned beef sandwich) but please please keep that stadium empty all season. I mean yes Eloy, Moncada and Timmy and Abreu are all stars but nobody else is worth your money. Not one pitcher on our staff is worth paying money to see, just those four players I mentioned. That's scary really.
  6. Does greg really want to post, "Fire Renteria" after today's latest embarrassment? Despite the fact our front office is a joke? Yeah, I do want to go there. Gosh I'm so mad about our play at home since Robin left. We get blown out even a lot at home. I know it won't matter, but I'd love to see us fire Ricky and hire what I call a "real manager (some older guy with experience)" so that guy can kick some ass to the front office and tell them to get rid of certain stiffs and at least play the best players in the system. My gosh we have some rotten baseball players on this team. Fire Ricky? Please. Why not? At least it will make me feel better. Does Leyland want to manage again? LaRussa? I'd take Piniella. Just some crusty old veteran guy to laugh at our front office types and tell them "give me some fricking players and maybe I'll give you some W's." If u wish to talk Greg off the ledge, feel free to do so. I am very upset. (I just hope the billionaire Sox owners, Ok millionaire, get to experience no crowds over 20,000 all season the rest of the way. That might make me feel a little better at our irrelevance.
  7. The first two home games proved how badly our fans want a winner. Now we can only hope they draw flies the rest of the season. The Sox aren't moving so we don't have to worry about that, not after that Forbes report shows how much $$ they are worth. So might as well have crowds of 15,000 the rest of the year except for a couple Fridays and Saturdays in case any of you go to games you can spread out and not have to wait for beer.
  8. I've definitely stopped caring about individual games (though I do get mad at specific ways we lose on a given night). We're a couple weeks into the season and it's apparent we're not playing for anything but a draft pick again. The Forbes report that the Sox were sixth most profitable team last year would indicate the Sox will just keep doing what they do. They don't care that I've given up or any other "diehard" is apathetic.
  9. This is awful news our fans are doing this. Just make sure you eject them from the stadium and maybe fans will get the hint. Awful to copy the cubs. Thank goodness they are ejecting the fans who do it. Ridiculous behavior!
  10. The Manny fiasco angered some of those who like(d) our front office. I enjoy reading rips of Hahn on here. It helps soothe the pain of defeat just a bit.
  11. At least Avi had a good series. I still say he's a good player. Oh well, the rebuilding fans and the rest of us who like good young players can take solace in the fact the rebuilding guys continue to do very well. Moncada, Eloy, Timmy baby. Unfortunately our pitching has blown chunks for some reason. At this rate, we will be out of it by the end of April with Cleveland, Detroit and Minnie faring reasonably well. Talk me off the ledge, baby. I am upset at this team.
  12. We need to learn how to win at home. We suck in the Cell. Geezus. Year after year.
  13. I just get mad at all the nickel and diming of the fan. Open up the concession stands, all of them. Talk to anybody who has worked for a baseball team: they pay exorbitant salaries for players and nickel and dime everybody else.
  14. Looks like we are going to suck at home again. Why oh why can't we go .600 to .650 at home?? 1-2 and looking bad going 1-2.
  15. If the Sox tell them to open more stands I would think they would.
  16. Three teams every year; two hockey teams every year; three NBA teams every year; two football teams every year.
  17. This thread is why baseball has to be getting worried about the comfort of watching games at home on big screen TV. If you have to wait long in line to go to the bathroom or get food/drink, that's not good. Just open up all the stands, geezus it's not that difficult, White Sox. These baseball teams with the monster player payrolls try to nickle and dime everything else.
  18. Let's face it, let's never take anything out of a series with the Royals, either way. Royals thought they had a great starting staff and great bullpen and contending team after our series. Sox last year thought they had a phenom in Davidson. Sox-Royals games should never be considered when looking at an overall player's performance. I must confess I fell for it. Thought Gio and Lopez were gonna be the real deal and even added them to fantasy teams. One more bad start and gotta drop both.
  19. How did they get your cell number?
  20. Everybody talks about flipping relievers. Will Alonso be flipped at the deadline? Like somebody said on here, he looks like a real, professional hitter.
  21. If he is dominant why the hell would we trade him if we'll need a closer for next season when we are a WS contender? Who is the closer we'll be targeting in free agency next winter? Now if Colome and Herrera suck or are meh, fine, trade them. If the Sox are .500 they'll be in the Central race. At some point they might try to win a pennant, that would be nice.
  22. Benetti is a star in the making. Great voice and delivery. He needs a home run call but frankly not much else. He is a delight. Stone is simply the best color analyst alive. If you want to be annoyed, watch a Royals game.
  23. Amazing the Cubs only got one WS title out of their tank/rebuild. Man, if they weren't so hot that one year. Just think if they had missed out on the 2016 title; that long stretch of jinx would still be talked about.
  24. greg775 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm sure he won the umps' respect in the unwritten ump rulebook. He never complained on all those strike three calls and they probably took notice.
  25. Great win: Moncada, Anderson, etc. Why not now? Royals are pathetic; Detroit blows, Cleveland blows. None of those teams are going to go better than .500. I guess the Twinks could run away, but why not now, White Sox?
