  1. He and Abreu are approaching at bats like guys sick of playing for hopeless teams. Hacking away. Can't say I blame them but they are making zillions of dollars so I'd agree with anybody who would be upset at them for not having good at bats.
  2. I have started a campaign in the Midwest. Don't discount greg accumulated votes.
  3. You are very mean in regards to Abreu.

How come Avi and Abreu don't get the benefit of the doubt/excuses when they are struggling/pressing? Don't freak out. Just asking. I think Moncada is an excellent prospect and a perennial all-star, just asking.

What do you guys consider a decent prospect? Yes he's doing very well. NO he won't bring anything.
  6. My opinion is Avi and Abreu can and should be the cornerstones of our WS teams. Do you all agree? Please put some thought into it before a one liner blasting me. It makes TOO MUCH SENSE to do it my way. Leadership (yes). Speaking/relating to half our roster which is spanish (yes half). Getting clutch hits cause they are Sox true and through. Key hits! GO SOX! You need veterans. These are the two, folks. Or should be. Fire Hahn immediately if he trades them.

Quite frankly I don't think the team has to show any improvement next season to be considered a success by most fans. I'm not trying to be an ass. I'm just saying this rebuild stuff has a lot of support. Fans simply LOVE the unknown and if the Sox don't rush prospects there will be no expectations and no urgency to win. If we suck and the studs aren't up yet, fans will be happy/patient as ever. The thing that bothers me is this year we could have flirted with .500 had we spent some cash on one or two stopgap free agent starting pitchers, 1-2 stopgap relievers and maybe one FA hitter not blocking anybody. Certainly a better catcher. It doesn't have to be this painful. I know 90 percent of you disagree with me and I understand your reasoning so no reason to argue. I just don't think next year's flop will be lambasted by fans at all. They are cool with dreaming of the unknown players and only Eloy and Kopech figure to be added next year. There will be plenty in the minors getting more seasoning and the allure of them, the mystery, the unknown, will make our fans not named Greg very happy.

I'd let Abreu mentor him some more or even Big Hurt have a conversation or two with him. Big Hurt actually should be our hitting coach if he'd do it. The man could draw a base on balls and when he swung he hurt the ball quite often.
  9. Not trying to start a fight, but with our initial taste of our prospects not a positive one (relax I like Moncada and Timmy and El-Rey, but they are here and proven to be human) Greg is demanding a Sox WS team anchored by Avi and Abreu. It could happen folks and it should happen. For those of you who think they should not be anchors of our WS teams coming up, I am just speechless. Think about it then respond please. Think of INTANGIBLES as well as tangibles (which they are good at too). We could have one of the most close-knit clubs in history if those 2 guys are allowed to lead us into the greatness years. Why am I the only one to see it. To you who don't post much, also give your takes! Thank u.
  10. Great column on the Sanders situation. Awesome stuff. http://ux.freep.com/story/sports/columnists/mitch-albom/2018/06/30/mitch-albom-public-shaming/747998002/
  11. How come everybody gives Tim Anderson a break for an entire season because of a death of his close friend and NOBODY is trying to figure out what could be wrong with Abreu? I guess it's cause he's old. Could there be something going on with Jose? He's always subject of trade rumors amid this horrible team. I can't imagine it's easy for him to excel every single year amid personal rumors of trades and his teammates being so inferior to him in most positions. My guess is even if Tim was still struggling with the death, fans on here would give him a second season to properly mourn. Double standard (and yes I feel sorry for Tim for losing a close friend; death of friends and family is awful).
  12. Thank goodness. I wish more people would call out the Sox on this one. You don't have to completely tank 5 seasons to be good in MLB, folks. I just hope they clean house before long. Continue on with this horrid tank job if they must but fire Hahn and Kenny and sell the team and do it with a new regime. This is insulting to longtime Sox fans.

Sounds like he did. Unless we're told by media or somebody that Moncada is a jerk or is lazy or something like that we have to assume he'll learn from this. He's loafed before but never done that before on a contact play. He screwed up. Do it again and fine him. But until we learn more about him, forgive him and move on.
  15. Boy we stink. What a pathetic game tonight.

Both got hit hard on here. I got in big trouble defending both. I freaked when anybody said Judy. And I loved Dye and stood up for him incessantly.

I already said I will definitely revel in the joy when we hit the WS years. I have that right as a longtime fan. Just cause I'm a critical fan doesn't mean squat. Just as I have no say in the rebuild I had no say in the way we won it in 05. But I can take part in both parades. And I was never a critical fan until this crap. Many of you were Ozzie haters and talked down on the players you wanted to get rid of. Same thing. The few of us who hate the rebuild can say the same about those who despised Ozzie and Dye and Garland, etc.

No way Boston makes this trade. Sale has great stats and he's only 29 and they need the ace for the postseason. It would make a good article though and good examination. Because to the way many of our stat people on soxtalk think, Boston SHOULD make this trade immediately and that is a no brainer. Cause Sale is 29 which to the stat people is on the brink age wise of being very old (at least for hitters; maybe the stat people think pitchers can go longer) and those 2 prospects are considered anchors of WS teams. I say no way Boston would consider that trade but I'd like to hear from the stat people on this board cause if they are truthful they "might" say Boston SHOULD make that trade in a heartbeat.
  19. That's why I say this rebuild didn't have to be this painful. Sox could have added some bullpen pieces without affecting the rebuild's key core. Let's face it Sox decided to tank for a few slots in the draft each year and to me that's irresponsible. They still coulda traded Sale and Q and Robertson and acquired Robert and got the main haul for the rebuild. Might not win the division with what we'd have so Hahn decided to suck up and save Jerry and the investors zillions of dollars and line their wallets til we're ready to compete. Makes me mad/sad.

I shouldn't bite but I guess I will: Man this team has taken a dive in quality testing fans' patience since they entered the tank/rebuild.
  21. North Korea copied Russia and figured out Trump that he could be played a fool. Just stroke his ego and continue to build an arsenal behind his back. Trump has had yes men and women stroking his ego for decades. Korea figured it out.
  22. greg775 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
People never talk about his attitude. Whether it's good or not.
  23. Does Covey have tired arm? He was pathetic. Batting practice. Davidson? WOW! Team as expected is back in the dumpster after winning 2-3 in a row. I'd expect 8 game losing streak again or more. We ain't beating Texas a game this series for starters. Bet big.
  24. Good post. We should discuss these things. I think people have always hated people except in times of crisis. Let's face it, they call it your own "family" for a reason. The world should be one big family. It isn't. My pet peeve is those commercials for car companies or diamond stores (big on KC talk radio) that say, "Come here where we treat you like family because our customers are family." I go to the library a lot and see homeless individuals. I should talk to those individuals and always give them money. I rarely talk to those individuals and rarely give money to them. I did not speak to the guy wearing the dress in the Subway which many of you consider evil. I can improve and I feel we all can improve. We are not one big family in America. Our politics makes us want to punch people on the other side. We backstab each other at work. We are afraid to let our kids communicate with anybody outside our immediate family lest they get kidnapped. We argue with our kids' coaches and umpires of their games. Many of us are jerks to people outside our immediate family. Lack of civility is one reason I enjoy my 2 hours at church every week (I should go more but I am busy even though it seems like post so much I can't be busy). It's one piece of time nobody wants anything from you and peeps are friendly. There is no solution because so many people despise those who believe in God. I feel God is the answer in part but most people would mock me for that statement. Bill Maher would humiliate me. I'm glad caulfield is trying.
  25. I may have to change to Democrat then. Hopefully the Millenials will take care of this and get in the people who want to give us all free stuff. I tried the other way. I'm fed up with the corruption in SS and health care and cuts cuts cuts that hurt the middle class and poor. The way I see it is they had their chance the old way. Now it's give me stuff and give it to me ASAP. Too many crooks out there taking advantage of me and millions of other folks who just want to live a good life.
