**President Trump 2018 Thread**
Stuff like this just floors me. I mean how fricking stupid can a public figure be? To say what he did is just plain imbecilic. I didn't see it but the minute the other guest expressed shock/anger at that statement, Bessie shoulda took over the show and apologized profusely immediately. "Oh my gosh, sir, I am so sorry. Cotton picking mind is a figure of speech that came into my head and I certainly did not mean to insult you. I reiterate I am very sorry and I truly ask your forgiveness for using that cliche that has no business ever being said again. Please sir, forgive me!"

Sarah Sanders denied food
I think if the doctor prescribed this drug, the pharmacist should be obligated to fork over the prescription. Didn't the pharmacist take an oath to follow through with doctor's orders? I don't think the pharm guy can play God. He has to fork over the prescription or lose his license I'd say. But back to Sanders ... what do you all say to the downtown businesses being furious with the owner of the restaurant?? They are making their town look like intolerant, mean people. Could hurt tourism all because of an extremely left restaurant owner. I mean she coulda served the Sanders party and blasted them on Twitter while they were there or after they left. I think Sarah Sanders showed class in just getting up and leaving. She comes across very badly running those press conferences every day, sure, but I think those press conferences are a joke. The way I see it ... if Trump won't come to update the media on stuff, then just don't have the daily pressers. Who needs some spokesperson spouting how Trump allegedly feels about stuff. Very worthless to me. That'd be like Bob Knight sending some third assistant to his press conferences when he was head coach ... oh wait he did used to do that.

It’s Game Day in Chicago 6/24 A’s and Sox
I wonder if Hawk was ill. Great win. I imagine the Moncada naysayers (there aren't many) feel silly. The guy is a talent. I'll give Hahn credit for getting him in that trade. And my gawd. Palka's home run was hard to believe. Watch the replay. It was a fricking laser beam. There has to be room for that guy in our future. Work with him, sox. He can hit. Next year will be his age 27 season. No spring chicken especially to the age-niks, but again. That HR was KILLED. Always nice to see Avi get a hit. He's having such a bad year compared to last year's multi-hitfest. And of course our starting pitcher. So happy to see him dominate. Some nights the Sox show some promise. Many they don't. GO SOX!

Sarah Sanders denied food
Wow Historic Downtown Lexington Virginia put out a statement concerning the actions of the Red Hen restaurant owner. Interesting that one person can bring so much publicity to a town. This restaurant owner has opened herself up to boycotts and stuff like that. So she needs to put out a statement. Will they serve any Trump supporters at all? Or will they only deny "famous" Trump supporters. Are all Republicans denied service or again, just "famous" Republicans? HERE IT IS: "We do not condone the actions of Stephanie Wilkinson, owner of the Red Hen Restaurant and Director of Main Street Lexington. The negative impact and nasty backlash towards our little community is downright appalling. Please do not condemn our town for one persons actions. To The People, Mr. President Trump & Secretary Sarah Sanders we sincerely apologize for the poor behavior and decision of ONE PERSON! If you feel the need to express your negative comments, please re-direct them to Stephanie Wilkinson directly. Thank You Lexington's downtown is a thriving collection of shops and restaurants housed in restored buildings with brick sidewalks and old fashioned lantern street lamps that serve the many visitors and tourists that come here all year long. Enjoy this short video highlighting some of the many great places to visit."

David Bossie ... what were you thinking? Latest to say something very bad and be out of the public eye forevermore. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/david-bossie-joel-payne-cotton-picking-mind_us_5b2fa4dfe4b0321a01d22bb2

De Niro at the Tony Awards? My Gosh
Well, this story had its 20 minutes of fame and is gone. Hmmm ... the celebrities who have had their careers end over dumb Tweets and statements must be sighing at De Niro not only surviving this but being congratulated for it. Blasting out the F bomb over Trump on TV and a live audience and it wasn't even bleeped in Australia. Yet he's beloved for his stance because it was against Trump. So if Hillary had been president and a celeb said, "F--k Hillary" imagine the outrage.

He's not going to last the four years. Anybody who colluded with Russia on anything should be considered evil. Just think how scary your sentence is "they definitely hacked the election." For Russia to be able to hack our election makes me have a sick feeling in my stomach like they are laughing at us behind closed doors and actually may have plotted how to take over the U.S./world someday. It's creepy to know they hacked our election and they are watching us and have infiltrated us. If Trump can be ousted over this, start the proceedings baby.

Sarah Sanders denied food
If Sanders broke the law, arrest her. But I see no difference between this and the case of the baker not baking the cake. The difference is in the reaction. People think it's OK even heroic of the restaurant owner to deny Sanders and her family over political beliefs. If this was a somebody on the left getting denied or a minority family, the restaurant might have to close its doors from bad publicity and protests. Sanders should have used her own twitter account to blast the restaurant further. But if she broke the law tweeting, then arrest her ASAP and let her have her day in court. Meanwhile, she should sue the restaurant owner promptly. Where's the outrage for Sanders' little kids BTW? What did they do to get denied food? Poor little kids had to experience the ugliness of life in being shown the door. Legally I think it's OK for the baker to deny the couple their cake and OK for the restaurant owner to kick the Sanders family to the curb because of freedom of expression, but I do think if there's outrage over the baker there should be equal outrage here.

OMG did you see the great Ben Shapiro's tweet tonight? Folks, there is a genius on soxtalk named Greg. I posted mine way before his Tweet. Ben ShapiroVerified account @benshapiro @benshapiro 1. It's terrible if a Christian baker won't use his services for the benefit of a same-sex wedding. 2. It's awesome if a Leftist restaurant order refuses service to a Republican public official. Pick one.- Sarah Sanders denied food
They cared about the cake story for years. Same denial of service. But nobody cares cause everybody hates Trump and everybody associated with Trump.- Sarah Sanders denied food
Did you see that Sarah Sanders and her family members (including small kids) were denied food at a Virginia restaurant because the owner was offended she works for Trump? Me sees a double standard here. There's absolutely been NO OUTRAGE. Meanwhile, the much-publicized case of the store owner who wouldn't serve (bake a cake) the gay couple that wanted to buy a wedding cake for their wedding received coverage every day or week for 2 years. ... Hmmm, that went to the courts. Sanders was denied the same type of service. She and her family wanted dinner. What if she claims it caused terrible distress to one of her kids that was hungry? Again, I'm not saying Donnie Trump is good (anybody with a brain knows our president is a clown and all that) but .... what's the difference in the cases, folks? Should Sarah Sanders take this to court?? If not why not? And why does the left never back the right in any instance? And yes I started a new thread on this. Shoot me for trying to contribute to the board. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/sarah-sanders-says-red-hen-virginia-restaurant-owner-told-her-to-leave-2018-06-23/- Pittsburg Unrest
Thanks for explanation. I can't believe Balta was nice in a response to Greg. Usually I fear the wrath and venom.- Immigration thread
Glad to see other soxtalkers get in drag out fights in here like Greg. Usually it's me in the middle of something. GO SOX!- Sox supportive of Lopez’s team critiques
We know Ricky won't be managing our contending team when it's time. Til then he's man the fort and he's a good clubhouse guy apparently. Also he's called out several players for not hustling which is good. He's just a horrible in game manager.- Pittsburg Unrest
Is it right by the entrances and exits? The area is right there by the gates? Interesting if so. The fans couldn't get out cause of protestors. What they had against Pirates fans is not apparent. I would guess 90 to 99 percent of the fans were not in favor of some cop shooting an unarmed kid.- 2018 Republicans thread
Are you crazy tonight? If they didn't why did they print THIS apology?? Geez. Time also has added a correction to an online article and gallery that ran Tuesday, before the cover was released: “The original version of this story misstated what happened to the girl in the photo after she [was] taken from the scene. The girl was not carried away screaming by U.S. Border Patrol agents; her mother picked her up and the two were taken away together.”- Oakland @ CWS 6/23
I love it too! But to be fair they SHOULD have held a discussion about the desire to lose in our clubhouse and fan base. If all the players hear is how cool it is to lose to get a top 2-3 draft pick next year, no wonder they make so many clownish mistakes. There's really no reason to try to win when everybody from the GM to the fans want you to fail/lose. I expect when we get good again, we'll play better fundamental baseball. Til then clown ball.- Oakland @ CWS 6/23
Great point Lip Man! My contention is he knew what needed to be done but was trying to jack another homer. Why? Why not? The games don't matter.- 2018 Republicans thread
Did you read the articles? Time apologized. The girl walked off with her mother, not agents. And the investigation is if the photographer knew that? I'm against separating kids from their parents. But I think Time deserves a lot of backlash from this, starting with the fake cover and the initial fake news. The girl wasn't separated from her mother. I think Time can do better than this.- Anderson's growth & optimism for Moncada
I read it differently. He wrote he's reminding him of Ackley more and more every day. I didn't see that as a big deal. Guys remind people of other guys all the time. Moncada definitely has some pop in his bat and seems to be a great prospect is how I see him. His defense seems like it'll be fine as well.- 2018 Republicans thread
There needs to be an investigation at least. From what I heard the photographer was making the media rounds talking about shooting the photo. And she was not even separated from parents. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/time-magazine-corrects-cover-story-crying-migrant-girl-175703772.html- 2018 Republicans thread
Hmmm Vox writes But when I saw Time’s cover on Thursday morning — and what I can only describe as the misuse of Moore’s original image — my immediate reaction was rage. As a photojournalist, a visuals editor, and an immigrant, I didn’t see it as a powerful statement on President Trump’s attitude toward the family separation crisis or the policies that have ripped more than 2,000 vulnerable children from their parents. I see it as an insensitive and exploitative play to sell magazines — and one that, albeit unintentionally, offers up this personal tragedy to be memed and ridiculed. https://www.vox.com/2018/6/21/17488680/time-magazine-cover-family-separation-border-trump-john-moore My take continues: I don't like fake covers like that. I feel like the above is very deceptive and I can see why people scream, "Fake News" when they see fabrications like this. It should at least explain it's a depiction.- 2018 Republicans thread
Hmmm so Newt Gingrich and Sarah Sanders are appalled at the magazine. So this entire article was written about the issue, but you guys act like it's nothing. I don't like doctored covers to make some point. What do you say to this article greg-haters? Geez some of you have no patience and refuse to discuss topics without simple one liners! https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/6/22/17494688/time-magazine-cover-crying-girl-photo-controversy-family-separation - Sarah Sanders denied food
