Looks like Hyde is gonna get fired. Is he a slam dunk choice for the Sox? The O's finished 20 over .500. ... I'm glad the O's lost to make up for the playoff series where a better Sox team lost to the O's. Britt Burns tossed 9 scoreless innings but gave up a homer in the 10th to lose 3-0 and prohibit a game five in which the Sox would have won and advanced thanks to Cy Young winner Lamarr Hoyt. Instead we got beat because Dybber had a brain lapse on the basepaths. I think that year was biggest choke in Sox history. We were home and only had to muster one run to win game four then win it on a Sunday with Hoyt. Glad those bleep Orioles who were way better than KC got beat.

Rice is due for a stinker and Carmel has our number. I hope the team can regroup, start a new season at 2-4 and win out. Then try to get at least as far as last year. -
At least Robert allegedly is good defensively. If you want to win 49-55 games next season you better keep Robert and Crochet. In theory Robert could have a decent year at the plate. Without Crochet the Sox start all unknowns once again. And the bullpen as it stands has a lot of bodies but is abysmal. To Sox fans. If Sox trade Robert and Crochet do you see about 40-50 wins again? Maybe 35-45 wins?

I didn't know u were eligible at 4-5. If the guys don't give up after the MC game there's hope of winning out IMO. Then I guess we're in trouble in the playoffs as you said those four teams are all good. -

Fellow Rice fans/alums: Nice win over St. Patrick. At 2-3 odds still are not good for a playoff berth. It's a shame cause our three losses are by no more than 7 pts. The schedule stays tough. So we figure to lose to Mt. Carmel to make us 2-4, then beat Niles, St. Laurence and SICP to go 5-4 and get in barely. The Crusaders are better than their record IMO. -
I would think Vaughn and Lopez are gone cause of $$. Lopez is no good and Vaughn seems to be mediocre prospect at best. Jerry can save 11 million between the two to give mediocre relief pitcher candidates.

Being a White Sox fan is misery. The White Sox ... where the team's best players get traded to fuel tank jobs/rebuild jobs. What a joke. It used to be the Sox had as many as five studs or more at a time on their team Now? It's laughable. Sosa and Ramos and Fletcher and Kory, get ready for 550 to 600 at bats in 2025. LOL.

Welcome to America 2024 and beyond. Fake fake fake news and posts on social media. We'll never know what's real or not again. Those who don't double and triple check in the media will be burned.

The team that's going to take the field and the pitching staff I'm assuming will be identical to the current team/roster. Since the team has played .500 or better the last two weeks I'd say that implies we could go from 41 wins to 50 to 55 wins next year. The only way we'll be back at 41 wins is if the pitching is abysmal again out of the gate. Without Crochet, the starting unit is weak. And the bullpen is ungodly bad. I'm just assuming Sosa and some others will hit the way they've been hitting and some of the starters might be able to duplicate what they've done lately. Still very many question marks. I'll say if the roster is basically the same, the Sox win in the upper 40s next season. 50 wins max though.

Thanx for the post. This season, while utterly predictable, stunk to high heaven. It was the worst sports season of my life. I wanted the season to be over in May. This roster had to be the worst in any sport in Chicago sports history. That says a lot considering the Bears, Bulls, Cubs, Blackhawks have had some really bad seasons/rosters. Right now, where I live, KC is in the midst of its golden era with teams (the Chiefs are so far ahead of every NFL team it's a joke; especially the teams in their division; the Chiefs are the standard and it's not close). The Royals make the playoffs with a big assist from the Sox who yearly lay down when they play KCR. KCR were 12-1 versus the Sox I think which accounted for their division title. Chicago should be ashamed of the White Sox, Bulls and BlackHawks (miserable franchise since the dynasty). The Cubs are a mediocre laughingstock, only had that one WS despite the inherent advantages of having a ballpark that sells out every game; Bulls have had no chance still since MJ days; Bears seem mediocre at best. Get it toggether Chicago sports teams. Wake up.

Stone not sure he will be back in 25, season "wearing on him"

No doubt. He is a Chicago treasure. -
I don't want to get political here so I better pass on commenting. Thing about Twitter/X is there's a lot of flat out lying on there. I'm 100 percent for letting people say whatever they want HOWEVER it is divisive and annoying to have to pursue many avenues to see if a Twitter post is true or flat out made up b.s. If you are not logged into Twitter/X you don't have to worry about it, don't have to do your own fact checking.

Smart guy to get off social media. First of all you can't tell if what's on there is true or fake news or a doctored photo or video. It's only going to get worse with AI. Nobody should use social media. It frankly is disgusting. Sox can do better than Schiff but whatever. A 40 win team doesn't deserve a great announcer.

The Stoney story makes me laugh. Baseball is so different from other sports. The guy is 77 and gets a multi year deal to continue on. Must be nice. Many people at 77 are toast, couch potatoes with ailments. This guy is beloved when he goes to work. Everybody's wanting selfies, slapping him on the back, praising him. Eats the ballpark meal for media, broadcasts the games he wants to broadcast. In short, has it made at 77. And he's not the play by play guy so he doesn't have to worry about losing depth perception like Hawk. Didn't Harry and Brickhouse announce forever as well? Same in KC. The Royals' Denny Matthews is 81, does all home games skips most of the road games. Uecker is 90. All making huge bucks and beloved as they age instead of playing pinochle with the elder statesmen. -
Good loss in terms of possibly shutting up those who will claim the end of the season surge means the Sox will be good next year. Typical loss. Three hits on offense and blah pitching cept for Crochet. I wish they could stay at 39 wins but they'll win with the Tigers taking the foot off the pedal now.
-
Me too. My point is they won't even have to go veteran bottom of the barrel to field an everyday lineup. They even got two catchers. They got all the positions covered pretty much. ... However to save a good buck I bet they try to trade Beni, Robert and Crochet. They buy out Moncada, nobody will be dumb enough to pick him up without a contract laden with incentives.
-
Tell me if I'm wrong: On the opening day roster from this hot streak will be: For sure: Vargas, Sosa, Ramos, DeLoach, Lee and Robinson, Fletcher and Amaya. Plus Beni and maybe Vaughn/Sheets or one of the two. Pitchers will be the guys we've been seeing of late. Iriarte can't miss with Crochet (unless they trade him), Flexen, Varland and others like Drew. I seriously can't see many changes.
-
Cmon, from what we've read about our clubhouse full of jerks give Crochet a break. You guys want perfection out of people like Crochet and Ozzie. Relax.

We won again. Obviously after this final two week run, This team is the one we'll be hitting the field with next year. The question is ... does Sizemore (he should keep the job after this run) have a core group that will overachieve? Sox are red hot to close the season as we figured they'd be which means it'll be easy to basically stand pat for 2025. You better believe Stoney and Schiff and the ticket department will be playing up this final week of excellence.
