Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
I can't believe the fake news about my fandom. I tried to learn about the Cubs a little bit in April and May to see if they could catch my interest. They failed to. As I still can't name you one Cub starting pitcher or anybody except the SS whose name I can't even remember right now. Meanwhile I know all about only one team's personnel, the Sox. As far as the Royals, I went to two games in the Yankee series and watched some of the Yankees the rest of the way so I now know a little about the Royals and the Yankees personnel. You guys can't accept I'm a lifelong Sox fan and living in KC area have been in so many 'fights' defending the Sox vs. the Royals. As far as the Cubs, except as a kid when my grandfather (the only Cub fan in my family) took me to a ton of games I've not followed them at all. I'm even one who as a kid preferred Sox games with my dad over Cub games with grandpa because of the exploding scoreboard and the general joy I got in Comiskey. I didn't mind Wrigley but it wasn't Comiskey. Give greg a break on the fandom issue. As fathom knows I used to freak on here when the Sox lost to KC and/or the Cubs. That's when the Sox were good enough to care whether they won or lost an individual game/series. Now they are so bad it doesn't matter. Give me Pete Ward or give me death. Peace.

The Case to Eliminate Two Strike Foul Balls
Folks you've got to watch Goose Gossage, the Hall of Famer discuss pitcher injuries on here and the babying of players!!! Goose has it right. Great post, kitekrazy.

Thanks White Sox 2023. I feel so many times nobody credits me for credible posts and I was right there on that one. That's why I didn't buy mlb.com. Amazing how people won't give credit and you did. Thank u! The post you cited should put as the first member of the Soxtalk.com Posters Hall of Fame! Go Bro Rice in the Prep Bowl playoffs if indeed they are in them.

Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
I think he went 3-for-3 the game I attended in the Yankee playoff series. He looked like he had a clue while most Royals hitters were abysmal.
-
Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
I meant Pham. He was hitterish for KC in the playoffs. I woulda brought Pham back at 4 mill a year over Slater. Why not? Give Pham and Abreu 500 bats apiece if u sign Abreu for starters. Jose isn't gonna command more than the minimum salary either. And if the Sox go for 120 losses again he can be the guy who tells it like it is in the clubhouse saying that's unacceptable to not give 100 percent.

Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
This is identical to acquiring Tommy Pham. Frankly after looking hitterish in the playoffs, I'd rather get Pham back than Slater. Slater is a typical Sox acquisition. He's a guy. But so is Pham and we already like Pham a bit so bring him back and dump Slater please.

24-25 NFL Thread
I swear I don't make many political posts anymore cause I learned my lesson on here. For you to remember I like Rogan and Maher is very interesting/intriguing/impressive. It says greg's posts can be thought-provoking which can be valuable to a message board discussion.

24-25 NFL Thread
I was taught how to reason in debate class. My assertion can be supported with facts. Assertion: Are Bears gonna fire the coach again and will they go after Deion before others grab him like the Cowboys? Facts supporting the topic: a.) Bears go through head coaches as often as it snows in Chicago in winter. b.) Deion has been tied to both FSU and the Cowboys. c.) Heaven forbid the Bears make a popular move on the head coaching front (if they must axe yet another coach. You act like my post was some out of this universe wacky post that is as ridiculous as believing a 58-year old Tyson could defeat a 28-year-old Paul. Nothing's wrong with my thinking of this topic; nothing's wrong with my facts backing up my topic. Geez. Give a greg a break once in a while. Thank u.

24-25 NFL Thread
If we have to fire yet another Bears coach why not grab Deion before Florida State or the Cowboys? Do a google and all you'll see are "hot seat" stories on Bears coach.

24-25 NFL Thread
Are the Bears going to have to fire another head coach ... again?? If so hire Deion Sanders. Case closed. Glory days return FINALLY. He won't stand for front office incompetence and bad QB play baby.

Jose Abreu back to the MLB soon?
Not a bad plan. Or sign Jose and keep Vaughn. They can split time playing 1B and DHing. Get rid of Sheets, not Vaughn. I think this could work out. Jose must be lifting and pulling again if he has 4 homers. And Vaughn like it or not is our best hitter. Yikes.

19 Bally RSN's going bankrupt, 14 MLB teams potentially affected
Why did Ballys go bankrupt with baseball traditionally a total moneymaker for those who televise it? The contracts awarded teams by networks makes the salaries possible.

Yoan Moncada bought out
Moncada and Eloy were major busts.

One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
Bart Johnson also was both a starter and middle reliever, right? Sox apparently were good at flip flopping. Did u ever interview Johnson? Any audio available? Or Forster?

One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
Thanks Lip. Would those 2 have been fine starters had they remained? They had talent.

One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
I'm pretty sure Gossage and Terry Forster were both starters then got switched to the bullpen. Not sure why except those two would make up a dynamic right/left relieving combo in a day and age you only needed one or two relievers max to wrap up a win. i think Gossage would have been a fine starter but I'd have to study his career.
-
One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
At least you acknowledge his having an opinion. I'd love to have Goose be in a room with Reggie Jackson and Billy Williams and Steve Garvey and discuss future Hall of Fame standards. I think you'd be shocked at what we'd hear.
-
One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
A Hall of Famer in Gossage referred to them as the five inning guys. .. And 300 wins is a great standard. Pitchers won't sniff that.

One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
Hmmm, Anderson's career is over at a young age. Was he a reliable SS? No. He was far from a vaccuum at SS. Catcher? Uh he had a good arm, checks that box. He was similar height and wt to other catchers. Check that box. Yes IMO he was a prime candidate to be a catcher. He was a failure at SS. Botched too many routine plays while occasionally making the spectacular.

Do you at least agree there will be no reasonable criteria for the 5-inning wonders, the starters? W/L? No way. K's? Why, all starters have the great heater and cutter which means they ALL will be the same strikeout artists. ERA to be the Hall standard? Please. Why can nobody answer my questions.
-
One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
I dunno bout that. Starters: You have to agree 5 innings is a long outing nowadays. That leaves 4 innings where a LOT can and does happen. So the best starters still get very few wins. W/L meaningless. So that leaves K's. Frankly the five inning wonders all are gonna strike out a TON of batters. Hence a zillion pitchers with a lot of strikeouts. That means nobody outshines anybody else. 10 strikeouts to 12 in five innings will be average to decent. ... Now middle relievers that go one or two innings. Hall of Fame consideration LOL. Finally the guys who work the 8th and 9th. Roles will change with different guys on staffs closing, meaning 20-30 saves a season will be the upper echelon of guys. Not exactly Bruce Sutter territory. Let's face it. Bye bye pitchers for the Hall cept for a few current guys who only recently joined the 5-inning club.
-
One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
Goose said in the tape there will be no more Hall of Fame pitchers cause of lack of wins when you only go five. Again, my opinion supported by a Hall of Famer.
-
One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
You guys are a tough crowd. This is a Hall of Fame reliever and his thoughts mirror mine. Ever think current health trends are caused by changing the methods that were used in Goose's era? At least I have a Hall of Famer backing my position universally mocked on the board here. Next thing you know somebody famous will say Tim Anderson shoulda been a catcher (good arm, very inconsistent at SS). I'm just saying I'm not as stupid as many think I am and this Gossage tape proves it.

One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
Nope. I won't use Goose's cuss words but listen to at least the first eight minutes please. He tears apart the modern athlete and pitcher and obliterates the commissioner and all analytics. He talks about how baseball pitchers train wrong, lift too many weights. He laments it all. And despises Yankees' Cashman and analytics. He basically said all players are very soft. ... When you listen to Goose you will hear greg and I'm often lambasted on here as not having a clue. He also repeats my mantra of WHO IS GONNA MAKE THE HALL OF FAME IN THE FUTURE?? You'd think I was Goose with similar arguments. Apologies from anybody coming? I got a Hall of Famer and Sox great on my side.
-
One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled
I didn't want to start a new thread on this lest anybody get mad, but I often get blasted on here for my old-school lamentations about the demise of baseball. I challenge you all to listen to former White Sox great Goose Gossage and listen to his tearing apart analytics and the ruination of a once great sport. In fact I'd like to say I'm in good company with Goose Gossage since he's basically listing all the reasons greg despises baseball. I love the way Goose rips the 'five inning guys.' Caveat: Bad language in the video. ... What do you think about Goose's arguments/my arguments?
