  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 04:35 PM) Wait Greg, you voted for Bernie? No, but as everyone can recall I was a huge Bernie supporter.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 07:36 AM) http://finance.yahoo.com/news/target-boyco...-141019006.html Thought Greg would enjoy seeing his bathroom argument being validated by the Target boycott, which has cost them millions of dollars, and started from a single unauthorized Target corporate blog post (but didn't go through the CEO). One of your links made my computer go bats*** crazy so I didn't open it. What did it say? What's my bathroom argument?
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 04:28 PM) I have come to conclusion that 90% of the people in this thread want Trump to fail miserably and even if he does something great for the country (not saying the missiles were great) you guys will still s*** on him and come up with crazy reasons not to like it. Of course that's the case. The four years are going to go fast like they all do and he has no chance of re-election but the haters refuse to 'wait and see' how Trump does. Don't worry Trump bashers ... he's not going to win re-election so why not hope for the best right now and wish him well? Nothing you can do about the last election now. Some of us tried to help out the Democrats and got behind Bernie, but noooooo.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 02:04 PM) Twins come in undefeated, somehow. Hopefully they keep winning games this season to help us #TankForBeer El Rockin would disagree with your post. Go Sox! Keep up the offense and improve to 2-1.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 02:57 AM) Greg Rush and Hannity. There is your answer. Rush is further right than anyone on this board and Hannity is Trumps mouthpiece. He could take a s*** on the desk in the Oval Office and call it a success. If you assess him by what he ran on as his platform he's been a tremendous failure. Didnt defeat isis, no healthcare repeal, no wall, no Muslim ban, Hillary isn't in jail, he's failed to nominate 80 percent of his staff, the stock market plummets and so does his approval rating. You think that's good? Using his own definition of success he's a failure. Or a liar. Or incompetent. Informative post, Rock. Thank u for your taking the time. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 03:07 AM) Pretty terrifying to think there are millions of Gregs in this country. You can't deny my love for the USA and the White Sox as well.

  7. Hey, I'm not trolling or trying to anger anybody, really not. Just bear with me and answer please. I told you I don't follow politics that closely after election season. But today I was driving and turned on Rush and after lunch Hannity on the radio. Rush said and I am serious: Something to the effect of Trump's 100 days have been a tremendous success in ALL aspects and if this was a Democratic regime we'd be hearing GLOWING reports. He said the national media despises Trump and it's all negative. He says Trump doesn't care, he just listens to those like Rush and Hannity who support him. But my comment to you is: Are they at least a bit correct?? Has Trump been OK to good? Now I am assuming you trust my report that Hannity and Rush did indeed say these things today. About how TRUMP is actually good. You know I don't lie on purpose, so give me your take on two national talk show hosts assessing Trump's opening 100 days as good. p.s.: I also last night watched some press sessions with Spicer on youtube. I will tell you they are like comedy skits. The male media members dressed in suit and tie and the women media members in equally formal attire, toss negative questions at him and he gets all mad and blasts them. To you I ask, why the hell do they have these media briefings with Spicer?? First of all, he's not the president. Who gives a flip what he thinks about issues? Do they actually quote him every day? I mean if you can't get the Pres' take, you have no take IMO. Why quote a guy like a press secretary? That'd be like Coach K's third assistant giving all the comments to the press before and after games. Very weird. (I do realize in some cases he brings a direct message from the president but wouldn't a simple press release with Trump's quotes be more effective than some guy explaining what he thinks Trump thinks?) Apologies in advance if you don't like this post or think I'm trying to stir it up. GO SOX! 1-1 isn't half bad.
  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 07:39 PM) We can contend. Soto homers The wild thing is Elrockin means it. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 08:14 PM) Avi with an RBI single and Davidson with. Three run blast. 9-1 Sox. We will be in the playoffs ElRockin does mean it. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 10:10 PM) At least the bunt got down - last few years it would have been a strike out after two failed attempts or a pop up. Great point. I forgot about the sick attempts at bunting, especially by Beckham and Alexei. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 10:12 PM) When they were 23-10 last year, they had several blowout wins. Seriously? I don't remember them. Although they were so bad after that I may have forgotten. Robin was a joke. It's going to take a while to get used to having a real manager if indeed Renteria is one.
  9. Well, holy s***. If Renteria keeps this up, I will be his biggest fan. We NEVER (OK rarely) won blowouts in the Robin era. Nice to see a blowout so early in Renteria's era on the south side. Obviously all teams will win at least 55 games, so no big deal today, but again, a blowout?? In the Cell? Beautiful. I am thoroughly negative most of the time, but I will give credit where it's due. The team showed life today which it rarely to never did under Robin. p.s. That squeeze bunt was a good idea but it was a lousy bunt. Shoulda been out at home. I do like Stoney's take, however, that if you put pressure on the other team's defense more often than not they'll mess up. It worked so I'm happy but it was a lousy bunt.
  10. Anybody getting sick of MLB's insistence on having teams play teams in their own division 19 times? It's getting boring IMO. Mr. Steinbrenner is no longer alive, rest his soul. He's the one who wanted to play Boston 19 times and got this thing going. Why don't they change it back? Nobody else is getting bored of games vs. the Tigers, Twinks, Tribe and Royals? Ugh. I mean 8 times a year would be great. 19?? B-O-R-I-N-G.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 10:59 PM) Sox tweets this morning... Today’s game between the #WhiteSox and Detroit Tigers has been postponed due to rain. The game will be made up on May 26 as part of a straight doubleheader, beginning at 4:10 PM. The originally scheduled game will begin at 7:10 PM, or 30 mins following the conclusion of the opener. Tickets & parking coupons for today’s postponed game can be exchanged for equal or lesser value to any future regular-season Sox home game. All exchanges must be done at the Guaranteed Rate Field box office during regular business hours or by mail. Fans with tickets for today’s game cannot use those tickets for entry on May 26.Fans with tickets for the 7:10 PM game on May 26 may attend both games of the doubleheader. I wonder if it would have been a day/night doubleheader if the Sox were projected to be a contender. As is, they just figure no big deal; one ticket for the two games.
  12. We're like the Baltimore Orioles before they finally got good again. So many older, lousy players.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 01:31 AM) I know some would disagree or been inconvenienced, but the call should have been made Sunday. Bottom line, there was a terrible forecast Monday, and a good one Tuesday. That's why they have the open date. They blew it. Now the same thing on a lesser level- they aren't playing tomorrow or Thursday. Stay ahead of it, and call both games tomorrow morning. Good post. Agreed.
  14. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 03:24 AM) Best food/beer combo was 35th St Tacos barbacoa tacos washed down with Landshark beer with lime and salted rim. And you have identified the only reason to go to the ballyard the next 3-5 seasons. Food and drink. The best in baseball I've heard. Only other reason to go is to watch major league baseball in a nice comfy environment.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 01:01 AM) If you want to listen to Brooks about the thinking yesterday... http://chicago.cbslocal.com/audio/670-the-score-interviews/ Thanks for the link. Well, the bottom line is everybody listened to the managers. They didn't want to risk those No. 1 pitchers getting messed with and that was that. To hell with what was a 2-hour window of dry weather. The rich ballplayer won out again it seems to me. Brooks said it himself that this isn't Little League where the kids throw 10 pitches and are ready. Sox would have looked OK had it not been dry for 2 hours. I do think the Sox should have or still could give the fans affected a ticket to a "premium game" that's not the Buehrle game or a Cubs game. Every other game for gosh sakes will be EMPTY. There won't be 25,000 fans in that stadium for a game besides those all season. I do respect Brooks' comments. After listening to it I believe him that they weren't trying to make peanuts (no pun intended) on concessions. But I don't agree with catering to the managers being worried about their starting pitchers. Lame. It wasn't raining. PLAY BALL! I'll give the Sox a solid D for the handling of this Opening Day situation. p.s. Today's pathetic crowd BTW should prove to baseball owners how times have changed. Life habits have changed and very few people were able to, or willing to, try to make arrangements to attend Tuesday's game after having made arrangements for Monday. Pathetic crowd for the first game of the year.
  16. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 10:39 PM) Not many teams... Which is the whole point of the exercise. I mean it's not like they were beating a lot of teams with the Adam Dunn's, Austin Jackson's, Tyler Flower's, Alejandro de Aza's and Dylan Alexrod's of the world were they? Mark Yes but if properly managed we at least had a chance those seasons. On paper our pitching staff has looked lights out before this season and our lineup potentially had postseason written all over it. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 10:47 PM) So we're a 59 to 63 win team as currently constructed, but with a solid DH & CF we'd be in the thick of things? I pray to god you're a troll and not the alternative, because otherwise I'd feel bad for s***ting on you constantly. This was my opinion TODAY after seeing the team on the field. Do u really want me to go through my past post on how we might have been good? 1B - Abreu.2B-Saladino (Moncada next month, Saladino a super sub). SS-Tim. 3B-Frazier. All star infield on paper. C - Free agent. DH - Free agent. OF - Melky, Avi in right, free agent. Pitching: Add a bullpen piece via minor trade, open season with one of the Washington guys in the majors, etc. But after seeing what we have on the field, yuck.
  17. I watched the first few innings to see everybody bat once at least and see Q get hammered. --Pathetic crowd as expected. That's all on management. -- This team is going to lose so many games it'll make our heads spin. How the hell is Hawk going to broadcast road games for gawd sakes? He's used to a team on paper that is a contender. -- I would assume this would be a great season for folks to get great seats on stubhub once the weather turns and spread out and enjoy the food of the Cell. There won't be any fans getting in your way in the aisles, etc., for years to come. Absolutely no reason to follow any of these players except Anderson. Have we ever had a worse starting rotation on paper? Ever a worse defense on paper? Blah team speed. Wow. I stick with 59-63 wins max. Maybe less. Who the hell are we going to beat with this pitching staff and this offense? And this defense?
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 02:22 PM) For a rebuilding team, the Sox have very few young players. Anderson is obviously the big one, but Narvaez and May are probably long shots to ever be part of the future core. Saladino is hardly a youngster and the pitching staff other than Covey, who seems like an organizational arm at best, are veterans. That's what I've been saying all along. But I'm criticized for "not understanding" the rebuild. I understand this season is a total waste is what I understand.
  19. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 09:58 AM) Sorry to say this but so many of you guys are SOOOOOOO cheap. Sh&t happens. You lose 20 bucks on parking sometimes. From the sounds of it some of you would only be happy if they offered you up a date with the latest Playboy centerfold as a repayment for yesterday's rainout, lol. Life isn't fair at times. Today is a new day and a White Sox winner. Edit: Does Playboy have centerfolds anymore? I digress... Bad bad post. s*** happens? Some people took off work and can't get off today. People on here are saying the White Sox twitter report had nothing on the delay. It didn't rain for two hours some are saying. What's up with that?? Why didn't they start the game if it wasn't raining? I'd never accuse anybody willing to go to a baseball game as being "cheap." I've read the average baseball fans is in his 50s. If true, those folks remember the day box seats were 10 bucks and beer was 2 bucks and a hot dog was 2 bucks and parking was ridiculously cheap. Is your post for real? Criticizing the fans for this one?
  20. QUOTE (Boogua @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 05:14 AM) Paul Pierce? But he did coach Bulls fan favorite Kirk Hinrich who put up some good career numbers with Da Bulls. UNC has always had its way in recruiting. The Heels don't get necessarily the top 5 guys (though there are exceptions of course like Hansbrough and others) but they have their niche areas where top 30 players commit to them seemingly without much recruiting work. Roy made it so much easier on himself going to UNC where he's recruited effortlessly compared to KU where he signed a ton of great players but had to sweat out so many recruiting battles. Just my take. Tonight's game. Heels kept it close, never fell too far behind despite some bad shooting numbers, then BOOM, the 9-2 to end the game after the final tv time out. Game, set, match. Not a great game; refs seemed to dominate first 13 minutes of the second half. U all agree or ? Zags had a good team, just got hit by a train the final 2 mins IMO.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 2, 2017 -> 03:19 PM) He's despised, Greg. No other way to put it. Damn. I did not know that. I guess the extension he signed would put the Saluki administration in a bind if they wanted to try somebody new before his contract runs out. How's his recruiting for next season?
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 02:15 AM) Knox seems like a long shot, have you heard more? Know, just saw on zagsblog he was to visit Mizzou. If he thinks he's a one and done it'd be a nice 1-2 one and done punch with Porter and Knox to go with a couple pretty good MU players.
  23. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 02:11 AM) Seven hours since the last significant rainfall.........if it was raining at 5 and then poured thereafter ok but I was outside from1 until 8 and while it rained at no point was it even close to being cold and rainy enough to cancel the game. I am not certain what the white sox plan was but this was an epic failure. I don't want to see this horses*** team again this year so the voucher for my $105 ticket is worthless as was the $20 parking pass I got for the game. Again I understand weather is an issue but today after 2:00 was fine for a game this is a poorly run organization at this point. Very sad that the Sox seemingly went out of their way to anger loyal southsiders such as yourself. From the outside looking in it's almost like they not only want to lose as many games as possible, but draw as few fans as possible. Very strange. Smart people made a lot of mistakes on Monday.
  24. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 10:11 PM) Thanks white sox for downgrading my premium game seats to a non premium game seat. That's really inexcusable, except you do get to go to Opening Day if you want, right? QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 10:49 PM) Sox fans should want the Royals to be good this season. But we also want the Twins to be slightly better than the Sox. Please don't speak for Sox fans. I want the Royals to stink when they play the Sox at least. I'd like to go 13-6 against them. And I want the Sox to be better than the Twins as well. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 11:32 PM) I worked from 3am to 12pm to catch this game. They could've called and rescheduled it over the weekend. Inexcusable Sad. I really truly feel the Sox brass should sign up for this board and contact people with stories such as yours. You are the type of fan they don't want to insult, or shouldn't want to. You should be personally contacted and given a special couple seats for a meaningless June game. Seriously. Why offend great fans like you? QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 12:21 AM) I'm so mad I started breaking my rule about never going to baseball in April last few years. Not only is the weather s***, but the whole stadium from security to vendors have no idea what's going on. Even if you get a half decent day you'll be in line for four innings. I'm done with opening day. This was an awful experience. Honestly felt used by the end of it. Again, I feel you should be personally contacted by the Sox. s***, there can't be that many Sox message boards. And the Sox should fricking care who their great fans are and make good with them. I read the thread last night and tons of you were calling for unplayable weather today. Shoulda postponed it at 9 a.m. or 8 a.m.
  25. This is not a big deal so don't consider this a serious Greg rant. I'm just saying a lot of posters last night KNEW this game would not be played. A lot of posters suggested the game be called early in the morning Monday. WTF are the Sox thinking? That's all. No huge deal, but yes I'd be moderately miffed if I lived in Chicago, took off work and headed to the park with family or friends. Again no big deal, but somebody needs to use common sense once in a while. I am not mean enough to think they wanted people in the park just to sell stuff.
