  1. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 12:18 AM) By your logic, are you saying someone who isn't religious is more likely to cheat on their spouse? Yeah that was my perception. If the two people BOTH are believers and dedicated to a higher power, God, my contention is it helps keep you together and not cheat. My take is many couples, maybe most, tend to lose that sexual attraction and with that, that love, as the years go by. If both partners are available to others, meeting others at work, etc., it's very easy to stray. My take is if both dedicated their marriage to God, they are more likely to resist temptation and not cheat. I could be off base.
  2. I think we all can agree if you have health, family and employment, you've got reason to be happy. The first two are critical, but the third one is a biggie too if you have completed your trek through higher education.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) Or just dont be a scumbag and cheat. But yeah, god. I can still learn some things from a message board. So u guys disagree with me. Fine. It's given me some points to consider. I've always thought it helped if husband and wife were committed to the same God as well as being committed to their vows. I guess the bigger point is can a couple stay faithful if not committed to their vows?
  4. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 11:02 PM) Orlando shooter texted wife during attack, source says She better be in jail for the rest of her life Agreed. She could have been a f***ing hero by telling the cops he was coming to the club.
  5. The Shields acquistion is pretty mind boggling in retrospect. He has shown nothing this season and we get him and predictably his first two outings are worse than any Erik Johnson outings (with the Sox; he had a lousy start with SD). If Sox are gonna throw away money like that, think how they could have spent that money better last offseason. Shields is even worse than Peavy right now IMO. I mean is Shields going to be any better than Danks?? Shields is so bad so far in a Sox uniform it's beyond belief.
  6. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 04:52 AM) If there was ever a time for a divisional sweep outside of the Twins, this is the time. 2.5 games back, .5 back from the Tigers, with a sweep, they could either take 1st or be in 2nd. I don't think they are capable of sweeping anybody anymore. They are what they are.
  7. Is it true Australia had no gun control until that massacre in the 90s. I forget what happened now. But they then banned guns of mass destruction and have had no problems since. The problem here is the gun people, the gun owners, many of them, won't give up their guns. They demand the right to buy guns. Many say they will die before giving up their guns.
  8. Anonymous internet posters are the dregs of society. The anonymity of the internet leads to disgusting comments. It's why they have the "mean tweets" segment on TV. People are bastards.
  9. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 11:53 PM) And sometimes not. My in laws just celebrated 65 years of marriage. They credit their faith in keeping that marriage alive. It seems to me that if both members of a married couple have jobs, they are going to meet other people. When you meet other people, the odds are you are going to meet one you are compatible with and are attracted to. The only way to not act on this attraction IMO is if both partners in the married couple believe in God and just simply won't allow themselves to go there. The minute you allow yourself to go there and act on the attraction you are a cheater. Personally I don't see how couples make it without combined faith. You can say kids and yes there are many women who are miserable who stay in the marriage only for the kids. I've had relatives tell me they are getting out as soon as the kids leave home. At that point they are scared to go at it alone and stay in the marriage.
  10. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 03:03 AM) I've been away a while, and I have a pastor who can answer these questions too, but I prefer groupthink over one person's opinion. There is a long story behind this, but long story short, I have been dating a girl for a while and am about to move in with her again, while there is another girl at work who I feel is a better partner for me. I don't know for sure if this "better partner" has actual feelings for me, but given the relationship we've developed as colleagues, I am fairly certain that she'd let me take her on a date, if nothing else. Oh, and my current girlfriend knows that I have a crush on this girl. As we are about to move in together. We haven't moved a thing yet. I have to ask this girl out for dinner if I think she's better for me, right? Yes and what are you doing moving in with the girl you are dating? You obviously aren't convinced she is the one for you. Why move in with her?? Ask the other one out and halt this moving in.
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 04:14 AM) Anderson looking just fantastic. If Morneau can come in and hit like he has the last 2 years we might have a decent offense while Hahn tries to secure another bat and perhaps a relief pitcher. Then Rodon and Shields pitch better and Sox could look pretty strong. As much as I've supported Avi he's a huge liability in the OF and Morneau crushes righties so Avi to the bench or traded. Come Sale Away ! WHy is Morneau on the DL? ACL? I'm suspecting he'll be slower than Paulie.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 03:04 AM) starting to believe trump is actually a secret democrat plant, no one actually wanting the office would say these things He ought to go all the way bats*** crazy. Name Jesse Ventura his running mate. Just do it, Trump.
  13. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 04:01 AM) Didn't realize Morneau was on the bench right now This might sound dumb, but wouldn't it be cool if he was player/manager? First since Don Kessinger. From all I've read he is a baseball mastermind.
  14. Finally a real prospect in Tim Anderson. Not saying he won't go 1-for-30 soon and start struggling, but at least he looks like a real player. Sale wins. Did Robin save his job tonight? I can't imagine how he'd have kept it if they lost yet another home series. His job status lives on.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 12:21 AM) What bothers me about this is it loudly says that no, they're actually NOT good dads. Because someday, odds are their own kids will meet people just like them...and that makes you a piece of s*** in my mind. And let me be clear here...if that's how you want to live, I'm fine with that...but say it. Be a man. If that's the kind of relationship you and your wife want to have, I'm fully behind that, only it has to be an agreement BOTH make. But if you're pretending to be one thing, yet doing another...it makes you the worst kind of liar there is. If you can't do that, fine...don't get married...nobody's forcing you to do so. Again, this isn't directed at you. I just have very very strong feelings about this. I'm also realistic...I fully understand humans have urges...but what makes us different from the common animal is we have the ability to control those urges. And for those of us that legitimately have addiction issues, know that we live in a world where help is available if you aren't too much of a coward to seek it. Oh, edit...that last paragraph isn't even "that bad", so long as he told her he was going to a strip club...if she was ok with that kind of innocent interaction, fine...no issues. Again...with me it's about admitting it. If you want to go to a strip club for your bachelor or bachelorette party, have the guts to say it to you're significant other. If you don't have the guts to say it...or have to lie about what happened that night, then you're starting off your lives wrong. I pretty much agree with you. I don't know why people cheat. I'll tell you one thing. I know a lot of you despise religion but I love watching the families that come to church every Sunday and sit by me. I feel like if God is in the equation for both partners they would never cheat.
  16. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 12:04 AM) Get the urge to cheat? Fine. Jerk off and be done. Otherwise you're nothing more than a weak minded Neanderthal that let's primal urges control who you are. That's being an animal...and if you ever post anything on this forum about being above animals yet you cheat on your spouse or need to see strippers...stop posting, because that's exactly what you are. An animal. Also known as a weak willed c***. Still need to see strippers? That's cool...but don't get married, you aren't ready. Otherwise, look in the mirror and know you're just another c*** you're own kids will grow up too meet someday and they'll end up with the same weak willed bulls*** in their lives you gave your wife/soon to be wife. /rant OK, I like your post. You are an upstanding person, but like I've posted on here before I have a good friend, a very good friend who cheats on his wife currently. He got caught once and is still doing it. Yes I should probably not have him as a friend anymore. But I do know 2 different kinds of people and have friends in both camps. One set are the guys who actively cheat on their wives. Some even on trips with the boys to Vegas, etc. They simply cheat. As often as they can. They also are good providers and good dads. Do I approve of this? No. I even told the one good friend he needs to get help. He went to the psychiatrist once and returned a second visit and said the guy had forgotten half the stuff he said in the first session so he'd never go back!! The other group of guys I hang out with would never cheat on their wives. They are great guys and loyal. Finally my brother's best friend one night came crying to my brother cause his wife up and left him, no warning, cause she had cheated with another guy. She also stole all the money from their bank account, etc. So women do it too. I think a bachelor party with strippers can be OK if the guy handles it like a guy I know. He had a bachelor party at a strip club and mainly was the center of attention. He mostly chatted up the waitress, who was hot. he got a few lap dances but did not go VIP and all the lap dances he got were right there in front of everybody else. He didn't go to some corner like some people do, etc. Pretty innocent. He also got s***faced drunk.
  17. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 12:04 AM) Why does nothing good come from talking about a bachelor party? I went to Fogo with all my friends, spent tons of money, had some laughs, and then we went back to a friends house and drank and played Hold'em all night. Then I went home to my fiancee. That's it. What bad comes of talking about that? I waited until I was 35 to get married BECAUSE all that tits and ass bulls*** was out of my system and I knew I'd arrived at a point where I could settle down and be "legit". What do I mean by legit? Glad you asked. Listen, and this isn't directed at you Greg, it's directed at EVERYONE. I have two daughters, and what hope do they or any of our kids have, if even we, the sole people in their lives that actually don't want anything from them -- ever -- what hope do they have if even we can't live up to an ideal where we treat our significant other with some f***ing respect as to not cheat? Want to cheat? Fine...be a f***ing man and say it to her, or put it in your vows and declare it to everyone present that that's who you are...otherwise know you're a coward c*** for making promises you have no intention to uphold. Get the urge to cheat? /rant I'm sorry, I meant nothing good comes out of talking about a wild bachelor party with strippers. I thought I put that. See you mention strippers and there's potential trouble for the groom and embarrassment for the clown who spent two hours with a stripper in the VIP and spent 2,000. Or if somebody got a BJ or something. You have to shut up. Take the oath of silence. Nobody should hear about the wilder bachelor parties and some do indeed spill the beans.
  18. Well, this is it for Robin. Sale either wins tonight or we have a new manager in Renteria tomorrow. It's coming, folks.
  19. Let's also add what 2 players from former Sox teams would you like on this team. If they were still in their prime. You can pick only one superstar and one role player. I'd say Frank Thomas and Chet Lemon. Thomas for obvious reasons. He was selective at the plate and yet a slugger. Lemon would rule centerfield like nobody's business and also hit the ball hard. My third might be Ozzie Guillen, though he swung at too many pitches. He was a solid shortstop/hitter though.
  20. Laugh all you want. I'd love Kinsler, Zobrist and Lindor. My fourth would be Granderson.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) He was investigated by the FBI twice, and he was removed from his position at the court house when coworkers complained about him. How do you think "pc" stopped the FBI from doing their jobs? edit: he was also given the MMPI, a standard in-depth psychological screening, at least once by his employer. He had originally been assigned to the county court house, but people there complained that he prayed in arabic several times a day. Around that same time is when the FBI did their investigation. Due to tensions with coworkers and complaints from the customer (the court house), his employer reassigned him to a different post at a gated residential community after putting him through another background check and after the FBI completed their investigations finding no cause for arrest. All I can say is I haven't read the stuff you are saying. The story I read had a neighbor saying he didn't go to police about the punk because he didn't want to be singled out as a profiler. Or aggressor toward a minority. And as far as work, the story I read had a co worker of the punk saying he complained about him and nothing was done cause HR didn't want to get sued. I like what you wrote. That's more like it.
  22. http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/14/opinions/tru...rgen/index.html Greg, I want you to read this, and give a serious response that doesn't mention the name Hillary once...tell me why you believe the author and Obama are wrong and Trump is right on this issue. Like DrunkBomber says, there are no Trump supporters on soxtalk, not even Greg. I will not vote for Trump. I also as you know despise Hillary. So that means I write in somebody. As far as Trump's position on TEMPORARILY suspending people from some countries coming into the USA, well like the writer says it may not work because most of the attacks are made by assholes born in the USA. I wouldn't think a temporary ban would be the worst thing in history however. We have to attack this problem somehow. I don't even know what Trump thinks about gun control. I have a good buddy on Facebook who posted why he wants to keep his guns and it was an effective argument even though I told him I could never carry a gun. He said he refuses to as he put it be "whimpering on the floor when some gunman invades the restaurant where he is dining." He also said he will protect himself and his family and others from the gunman. He wants to be armed to have a fighting chance and not be begging for his life from some lowlife with a gun. Hard to argue with him. I don't want to be a sitting duck hiding in some bathroom praying the gunman doesn't come in. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) Nobody here is defending Donald Trump though. I only know of one person on here who said they were voting for Trump he did a good enough job explaining why and has seemingly stopped discussing it. Other than that it seems like pretty much every other poster on here who has identified as a republican in the past has said they dislike Trump and wont vote for him. So why are people so quick to think that saying "Ya but look what Trump does" means anything in this discussion. Nobody is trying to say the things that Trump says arent vile but a lot of the democrats on this site try to justify things that Obama or Hillary say by saying its not as bad as Trump. We know that. I dont see people arguing over the hoards of negative Trump stuff on the board because almost everyone here agrees. So criticizing Hillary or Obama doesnt mean were saying the things they say are as bad as Trump. Good point. There's really no reason to keep mentioning Trump on here. Pretty much everybody agrees he's an awful candidate for president. Thing is ... so is Wall Street moneybag Hillary. I can think of no worse candidate in history besides Trump because of her elitism and desire to please the 1 percenters at her own benefit. The rules don't apply to her as email scandal proves.
  23. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 12:45 AM) I went to a bachelor party in a rented party room at a bar and one of the strippers pissed on the bachelor and Im almost positive the best man had to pay her $50 to do it. I don't think I'd forgive the best man. I don't think I'd let him be my best man after that. That's just insane posse. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) I had two bachelor parties for my first wedding. One was at a Sox game with my dad, father in law, and about twenty friends and family. Everyone was welcome. The second was a smaller invite list and was was exactly like every other bachelor party that my friends had. We did it ten times at least. Each time was exactly the same. We played cards and ordered pizza. My advice to all the guys his have a standard bachelor party plan that everyone can memorize and repeat even under duress. Kind of like name, rank, and serial number. We played cards and ordered a pizza. We played cards and ordered a pizza. Never embellish, never add details. We played cards and ordered a pizza. No strippers. We played cards and ordered a pizza. Great post. Nothing good comes out of talking about a bachelor party. People will be satisfied if EVERYBODY says you played cards and ordered a pizza. Anybody that says what really happens at one of the wilder bachelor parties should be ashamed of himself. You can get grooms in a lot of trouble just by saying there were strippers.
  24. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 05:47 PM) I'll go along with the idea that SWA is number one just because Virgin America doesn't go as many places, VA offers an international-type experience. It takes just one bad experience to hate an airline (for me, United) but I feel like SWA seems to "take care" of its customers better. Maybe it's just coincidence but if a flight is canceled it seems less of a hassle to get yourself righted in the right direction on SWA. They get you on a flight and it's actually where you want to go, not connecting in Atlanta to get to Los Angeles.
  25. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 10:40 PM) Greg, how does being "too PC" have anything to do with this? Please explain. Because, coworkers tried to turn the killer into HR and they'd have none of it at his work because of PC concerns. He could sue for harassment. Because neighbors can't turn guys into the police when they see something unusual cause they don't want to be labeled minority haters.
