GT 7/26: Yes, Peavy and Rios are still on the team
greg775 replied to cabiness42's topic in 2013 Season in Review
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:45 AM) Why would writers know anything about that until a player is traded? It can vary to nothing toe verything depending on every possible factor you can imagine. Yes, but either the Sox will send a lot of money to the teams willing to take on Peavy/Rios or they won't. How much money philosophically are the Sox willing to burn, just to have teams take the big money guys in return for prospects. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:39 AM) Camera showed Peavy and Rios talking to each other. Probably discussing where their gonna be playing in 4 days or less Have the Sox beat writers written how much money the team is willing to send with these two players? They need to get some sources and tell us what Jerry is willing to spend on these guys' salaries with their new teams. -

Viciedo with the pop up. He's had a lot of hits lately so I won't blast him for that horrific at bat. 2-1 entering the ninth. -

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:36 AM) Nobody has hurt this team more than Konerko. A DH, making a ton of money, that can't hit. Thanks for the memories. Hang em up buddy. He's just too old. No more power. Too bad. Gillaspie with the solo shot. 2-1. Sox trying to return to the glory home run days. One home run down. Need more, only way this team has ever been able to score. -

Poor Paulie. At least he hit it. Warning track fly out. The shutout continues. Two down in eighth. -

Nice at bat by Dunn. He had no chance on the swing and miss strike three pitch. -

Dunn hasn't hit a home run in a helluva long time. Time for a meaningless solo shot here? -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:25 AM) This is the most worthless offense I've ever seen, and yet we have trade rumor threads about FIVE of the starting position players. Who is going to want these pieces of garbage? Better get a lot for Peavy because I don't see anybody else fetching anything of value. There's just no way anybody in their right mind would want Rios or Dunn. DeAza? No fricking way. I just wish we'd bring up all minor leaguers and give our bums the rest of this year off and let them try again next spring. Our offense is simply pathetic and embarrassing. Oh I forgot, Shields is an amazing pitcher, blah blah. -

Just bring up all minor leaguers for the rest of the season and see if some of these stiffs can bounce back next year. Nice at bat, Rios. -

Lexi with a horrible at bat against the Royals' unhittable ace. -

Nice hitting again tonight, White Sox. What an embarrassment with men on base. -
I can't believe the Sox haven't made any moves besides Thornton. You think the money issue is a holdup? If I were Jerry I wouldn't want to pay teams money for taking Rios/Dunn/Peavy/Lexi off our hands. It's bad business just to give away money with players. Hahn is really going to get blasted if he doesn't make some good trades.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 09:02 PM) And after Crain pitched a couple games in a row, there were people complaining in the gamethread when Ventura wasn't using him the next game. It's funny how it works. You are supposed to manage every game like it's the 7th game of the WS and if you don't you are a fool. If you do and guys get tired or get hurt, you are a fool. Fans for the most part are not very realistic. Since Ventura has been the manager, Crain has pitched 75 innings. 36 this year. If that's overwork, and Ventura is to be blamed for his injury, the Sox better be asking for pitchers for all their guys. They will need about 40-50 to get through a season. And just so you know, all the innings at "crazy levels" in reality, 285 pitchers have pitched more innings than Jesse Crain this season. Amen. How come the Ventura haters (regarding pitching) never mention our guru of a pitching coach. You think Coop doesn't talk to Ventura about this stuff or run the staff? I'm sure Ventura doesn't know s*** about pitching, except how to hit the ball, and defers to Coop.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 09:13 PM) It's not the innings with Ventura. It's the number of days in a row he uses these relief pitchers. I'd like to seem him use Crain and Reed for over 1 inning more often...and earlier than the 8th and 9th. Anyway, the Sox probably can craft a conditional trade for Crain...probably should. No use keeping him. Green Sox, no manager uses their closers for important outs earlier in games. You got to get better set up men. Reed is ninth inning only. It's just the way baseball is.

Do you want Ventura back as manager next year?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 06:15 PM) If you want to blame Viciedo's lack of development and the poor starts De Aza and Dunn got off to and Ramirez's shocking lack of power and Flowers's lack of development on Manto, I'm all ears. I still do have some positives. beckham being a ton better, Rios continuing to hit, Gillaspie at least showing some growth and getting off to a hot start (we'll see where that goes), De Aza and Dunn being on fire lately. So overall I'm iffy on manto for this season. There's been some positives and some negatives. I defy you to tell me one thing the White Sox have done well on their fundamental baseball skills. IMO the thing that really killed the Sox's offense was Paul Konerko finally getting old, and that one I don't hang on Manto. That's a totally different team if Konerko is putting up his usual .850+ OPS. I think it's simple. Sox don't hit home runs anymore. Still have basepath cloggers. Dunn whacks a few. Big deal. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) Take Alex Rios. He dogged his way out of Toronto. He dogged it and Ozzie benched him. He dogged it and Ventura benched him. I guess that means the problem is with the 3 managers. It's their job to get Alex to hustle, correct? Winning baseball teams do not want guys like Alex Rios on their rosters. He and Jose Guillen are the same guy. Please trade him soon. -
Way to go, Peavy. When Viciedo gets two hits like today, I start dreaming he may not be a colossal bust. Tell me Viciedo, are you special or are you .240-.250 with a pittance of home runs and Ribbies?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 10:53 PM) I can't figure out why someone is clinging to the odds of a freak accident at pitch 112 being any greater than the first 111. Exactly, also we have a pitching GURU in the dugout in Coop. You think Coop isn't telling Robin what to do pitching wise?? I wanted Robin out until the Rios incident. Now I want him to stay. It's not going to matter who is our manager next year so give Robin another year. If he actually wants to stick around and manage this piss poor Sox team, I applaud him for it. I'd think he'd be sickened by the organization and the players by now, but if he's not, KEEP ROBIN. He's a leader as he proved by yanking Rios' lazy butt from that one game. -
Hilarious. It's official that the Sox get nothing back for Crain. A GM can't give up much for an injury-prone older pitcher on the DL. Only the Sox acquire pitchers who are actually on the DL.
-
I wonder if this Sox team is in danger of being swept in series more than any team in Sox history. This team lays down and dies a lot.
-
First dumb thing Robin has done publicly since he's been manager. I don't see how that can help him with management. It's kind of an excuse for bad baseball and this team is just flat out bad. No need for excuses.
-
Is the main reason the Sox reek the simple fact we can't lift and pull the ball over the fence anymore? Not to mention the fact we can't catch the ball? But isn't it true the ol' lift and pull philosophy has gotten us again? This time we simply can't hit enough home runs to beat anybody? Our victory formula offensively remains the HR ball and our power has been zapped?

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
greg775 replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Braves NEED him now after the Hudson injury. -
Boy the Sox stink. I have nobody to blame since I've become a huge Robin supporter after the Rios discipline incident. Pity the poor Royals and Indians. Sox aren't going to help them out by beating Detroit IN CHICAGO. No, our White Sox have no life, no nothing. Anybody who pays to see the Sox lose night in and out with seemingly no effort deserves sympathy. If Robin did indeed say that about the team playing better after the trade deadline, yikes, that may get him in hot water with the front office. Nobody wants to be blamed and that would be blaming Hahn for distractions.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:03 PM) Heyman also tweeting Rangers after Rios. What's the delay? Trade Rios and trade him ASAP. Get what you can for him.
