Twitter is LOL bad this time of year. Do a search for Alex Rios and you find out he's certainly going to Pitt and you find out it's not happening. Twitter is a f***ing joke is what it is. Reporters should just wait. Updates that say a trade is close are not valuable, especially when the reports change less than 24 hours later. It's throwing s*** against the wall. Social media ... f***ing stupid. Here's my tweet if I wanted to have a fake account. Look for Peavy trade to come down tonight. Not sure where he's headed yet. 2-3 teams still in running. he will be dealt. Look for Rios to be traded to Pirates or Yankees for sure in next 24 hours. White Sox will deal him to team willing to pick up 3/4s of his contract at minimum.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) Beane wants to send a couple of prospects to the Sox for Peavy and have them eat money. Then he will trade Peavy this winter for prospects, thus getting him for almost free or even come out ahead. That is the plan. That makes too much sense. Why can't the Sox in the past ever pull off deals like that? They have no risk in this scenario. Get Peavy for almost free this year, dump him in the offseason to a big-money team. Pretty brilliant. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:58 AM) Floyd is a goner after this year. Where is Floyd going? I thought he had a multi year deal.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:08 AM) When can we start talking about the draft? Am I the only one that wants Bellinger over Rondon? Sox look like they can develop pitching fairly well so I'd rather have the hitter with incredible power potential. I'd rather sign free agents than talk about the draft in which no player will help us for a minimum of 4 years unless he's a mature college guy.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:06 PM) I say we are all happy come Wednesday, I see Jake, Lindstrom, Rios, Rameriez, and maybe Dunn all gone. This is all part of the game, even more so with a new GM like Hahn. These GMs are trying to push him around and test RH, they are using their leaks to test him further. Hahn is standing his ground, he is used to going toe to toe with agents negotiating multi year and multi million dollar deals. You gotta give the kid a chance before we worry or judge him. We have two days which is a lifetime in deadline time. Have no fear Rick Hahn is here. PS: Frank was on Sports Talk Live and said he expects 4-5 players to be dealt and even mentioned there may be a trade no one is expecting or talking about. Specifically mentioned one of the two young leftys, Hector and Josè. Man, in one day the future of the franchise will be decided if Frank is right. As much as I hate our position players, if we acquire lousy players in return, we will suck year after year. As much as Peavy is a yearly injury risk, trading him AND one of the young lefties does in theory weaken our starting pitching a bit. Future rotation of: Sale, Danks, Floyd, one remaining lefty and the minor leaguer everybody is always talking about. I guess that's STILL a good rotation if everybody is healthy. I actually could see us dealing one of the two lefties. I guess trading Rios, Dunn, Lexi, one lefty starter, Peavy, DeAza, Flowers and Beckham would be acceptable. It'd be quite the housecleaning in one day, though.

Boy we stink. At least I didn't watch this one. Jason Giambi a walk-off? Day after day after day something crazy bad occurs. We resurrect careers/seasons. Wade Davis is horses***? Not against the White Sox. Bruce Chen? Yeah he'll allow 3 hits in six innings ... against the White Sox. Jason Giambi wins a game on a walk-off??? This is utterly unfathomable.

QUOTE (TheBigHurtIsBack @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:30 AM) WTH? So we traded him for... things to be figured out later??? How the hell does that work? I've never heard of such a thing. Is there some sort of element in place to dictate what kind of deal can be worked out? I mean, say he comes back and ends up right back on the DL... what do we get then? How can something like this even work? How bizarre... Haven't you heard of the age-old trade for a "player to be named later?" It has been very common in baseball history. I'm assuming like many have said that there are two lists the Sox can pick a player or two from - one if Crain indeed resumes pitching in games and another if he doesn't. I can't imagine them "working something out" later based on Crain's effectiveness. Certainly it's pretty cut and dried. It almost has to be, right? I mean there's no way they are going to evaluate Crain based on whether he's a key cog in them making the playoffs and/or winning the WS then sending us a player based on what he did for Tampa. I also would bet if the Rays want to trade any of the players on either list they have to clear it with the Sox. Just an educated guess. Anybody agree??

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:21 PM) Chris Sylvester @MLBInsiderChris 3m #WhiteSox desperatly trying to dump Alex Rios . #Rangers a possibility but the two team's talk haven't gone very far As a Rios basher, I have to laugh at that tweet, the way it was worded. "Desperately trying to dump Rios." QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:24 PM) I really think Rios is gone. Ventura doesn't want him around and if you are going to have a fresh start, you need to clear some of those high priced vets, imo. The one exception is probably Dunn/Konerko and I'd be surprised if they didn't at some point have a conversation with Paulie to see what he wants to do (and I wouldn't care if we got nothing for Paulie...its about doing what he would want). Dunn is my x-factor to go. I really think right at the end a couple teams will make a late push for him. Not a lot of power bats out there and Dunn could add value to a team looking for offense (especially with how he's played). The key would be the Sox unloading Rios. If they unload Rios, I think its more likely they move Dunn as I think they'd be more inclined to send some cash with Dunn to ensure they got meaningful talent in return for Adam (which is key, imo...if you can't...then you might as well keep him for another year and move him at next years deadline when he isn't owed as much). Interesting take on Dunn. I was thinking after reading this. What IF a contender acquired Dunn and he actually listened to the batting coach and manager who DEMANDED he simply try to get bat on ball and elevate?? He actually has tools to work with. Look ... in my untrained opinion, the guy hits a s*** ton of home runs when he simply tries to make contact and get it up in the air.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:03 PM) We know the Sox are on pace to lose 100 games with Peavy, tells me they have some holes to fill. Why keep him and risk injury? If you are worried about injury, is that a concern of other GMs? Just asking. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:21 PM) What mixed signals? You either pay a fair price or you don't get the player. The White Sox don't have to trade Peavy. If the offers aren't there you can trade him in the winter or keep him and try to win next year. I don't understand why a price being considered too high is being called mixed signals. I think it is a pretty clear signal. Amen, brother. Great take. My guess is Peavy will be dealt to the Red Sox by tomorrow. Look, if the reports are true and we are getting 3 players, that's a pretty good haul. And Boston has the money to take on the whole contract, so it'll be bye bye Peavy to Boston IMO. Sounds like the Sox are going to get a good return on him from what I've read on here. -
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) I love this deal in that all the people yearning for something to happen essentially dont get what they wanted, even right now Gives them more time to speculate on a whole bunch of minor league players, though. The mystery will go on and on for quite a while.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:49 AM) Nine pieces of dung are still nine pieces of dung no matter which order you put them in. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:21 PM) Good point. So that would mean Crain to Team X Player Q from Team X to the Rays Prospects from Rays to Sox What do the Rays need? Green Sox copies my old haiku style of posting. Or are we the same guy? Hmmmm (kidding)

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 05:38 AM) Though I'm sure this will get lost in the archives.... To your 1st reply- Good fastball hitters should always get the 3-0 green light IMO. Tank is a good fastball hitter. 2nd- Funny how you only seem to watch when bad things happen. Or maybe you just choose to ignore the good while you dwell on the bad. Tank is 9 for his last 18. 3rd- I agree with your Lol of that post lol...I have hope for Beckhams power coming back but sadly I can't wait to see PK retire. 4th- I believe he was sarcastic in that post. 5th- Yes, yes you are. I can't imagine how much s*** Oz would be talking about this team, though it would probably be truthful, I don't want a manager who's gonna throw players under the bus. I saw your comments before they got archived. I'm being serious. I must be Dayan's bad luck cause if he's 9-18 I've seen none of the hits and a lot of those 9 outs. Whether Robin is good or bad, he's the leader of one of the worst teams in Sox history. Not good.

QUOTE (HeGone7 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:40 AM) Can't help but wonder how much of the gamesmanship is affecting these deals. Let's face it, Hahn does not have an easy task first year as GM and I think that will ultimately hurt the Sox. GM's around the league will be more then willing to test his brass. If Hahn is simply playing hardball, and deals are out there, then I do hope it doesn't bite us in the rear. If he fails to make moves, I wouldn't be shocked to see the "we weren't going to give anyone away and we think we can compete 2014" talk to pick-up. Great post. But I disagree they will start saying "we think we can compete in 2014' I don't think Sox fans are that dumb and they won't cater to that low denominator.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 01:50 AM) and then the screaming will ensue from Greg and Marty I don't think I'll be screaming if we are able to move Rios and Dunn. I'll probably be concerned if the Sox send a lot of money with those guys because I believe that will affect our future payroll. I would not be mad if this happened. ... Rios- Traded for 2 prospects of any kind (good prospects, bad prospects dnt matter) and sending NO MONEY with him. Dunn - See Rios trade. Peavy - Trade him for one good prospect, one prospect of any kind and send NO MONEY. So I am not asking for much. If we trade Sale or Reed I'd like 2-3 STUDS in return please.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:14 AM) Olney talking about Crain going potentially as a conditional trade based on appearances. That's interesting. Does baseball allow trades like this? This in effect is trading a guy, and what you get in return is based on how the guys you traded performs. To me, that's kinda shady. When you make a trade, there should always be risk on both sides.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:17 AM) •The White Sox have shown no interest in absorbing any of the approximately $24MM owed Peavy and that, along with health concerns, are big issues for the Braves. Per Mlb rumors You guys despise me, but I've been saying this all along, that Jerry won't wanna pay teams money for taking Peavy/Rios/Dunn off our hands. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 09:13 PM) I don't really mind Tank swinging 3-0 Getting caught up with this thread after Mass/dinner. Why? He needs to learn how to walk and we also needed a baserunner IMO. How's he EVER gonna walk again if he swings 3-0. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 09:50 PM) Lots of good progress with Viciedo lately. Hes been murdering good rightys. He's doing a good job cutting down his swing. Hope you are right! I haven't watched enough games of late. He still makes an out whenever I'm watching, but I hope you are right. It'd be very nice if Dayan wasn't a big fat bust. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 10:39 PM) Beckham and Konerko hit like girls. LOL. Enjoyed that post. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 10:50 PM) This series taught me that the sox need more pitching and that is what Hahn should target Be careful. Whenever I rip one of our relievers I get blasted big time on here. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:01 AM) He's getting a free pass because he's a 2nd year manager who replaced a loud ego-maniac and half the fanbase doesn't give a s*** right now anyway. Hey. You are offending the Ozzie lovers on this board. Wait ... I'm the only one in that club.
-
Seriously, though. Viciedo swinging 3-0? How bout take one pitch when you have one hit total since the first inning?? Then at 3-1 maybe he can try to get hold of one. Everybody is failing offensively this year, including Mr. Ventura. I've had enough. Got to go to a function. Love ya White Sox.
-
Three hits off Chen in six innings. Is about right. Surprised they got two runs. Not bad off Chen. Now the Royals' other bad pitcher is in, Hochevar. Why would Robin let Viciedo hit 3-0? Not too smart.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 08:48 PM) Greg, dunn just homered. I know. First HR since all star break. He stroked it well.
-
Nice HR by Dunn. It makes you wonder why many other guys can't hit that Chen stuff. He throws it right down the middle often times.
-
I wonder if Jerry Reinsdorf even cares how bad a team he owns. I wonder what he does on a Sunday afternoon. Cottage on the lake? Or does he go to the games? Gotta give KC credit for pulling off the sweep for first time since 1999 in the Cell (unless somehow we come back and win).
-
Poor Flowers. He's lost at the plate. Stee-rike three, sit down.
-
Bruce Chen loves him some White Sox. ... again. KC starting pitchers are mowing down our AAA lineup in all 3 games.
-
OMG I left for a second and Sox are out that quickly and Hector is back on the mound? Seriously, this has to be the most boring offensive team in Sox history.
