Holy crap. Tie game. Maybe Yankees will want Adam now in a waiver deal?? Beautiful single.

Nice 2B by Gordo! But Dunn's gonna whiff I feel.

Have some time off so went to the Sudeikis/Aniston movie today, We're the Miller's. I really like Sudeikis (not in this movie but overall), and how can you not love Aniston?, but the movie was not good. Maybe one scene was funny, hardly any good one-liners. Bad writing. If any of you are thinking about going, I'd pass. It's not godawful, but pretty bad. I'd give it a 1.5 out of 4. 2 out of 4 max. The best moment in this movie came out of nowhere and I will NOT spoil it by even hinting at it.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 03:14 AM) PK can still hit LHP That's one reason I say people are CRAZY to assume he's retiring after this year. If he's healthy I say he will go on. He's hitting over .240. His problems are probably all health related. If he can get 4-5 mill a year why would he quit, if healthy? QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 03:38 AM) RV will have one more shot to have a pitcher throw at ARod's head. Any manager with any understanding of the game would have thrown at him at least 3-4 times this series. If he fails to do it at all, Hahn needs to call him into the office after the game and tell him to pack his bags. There's no excuse for this type of ineptitude. I agree with your Casper Wells sentiment, but this is dumb. Everybody knows A-Rod is a turd. We don't need to bean him in the head or throw at the head.

I haven't watched that many games since the Sox turned to crud. How is DeAza in the clutch? That was a lousy at bat with the game on the line. I know he's been hitting pretty well this year at .280 and knocked in some runs. How is he when it matters?

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 03:44 AM) Ugh. She's the same in every movie she is in. One trick pony that should be in supporting roles. I just thought it was really funny. Like Roeper, I was laughing into the following scenes a couple of times at least. I wasn't sure I'd like The Heat but I laughed a lot.

Have some time off and finally caught "The Heat" yesterday. Melissa McCarthy is becoming one of my favorites. Damn she is funny IMO. I love movies with clever lines and even though her use of the word "f***" was funny in itself, there was some creative writing/ad libbing going on. I don't care what anybody says. Sandy Bullock is not bad looking for 48. If she's had work done, it's been good work done. Her face is not half bad.

I don't get this thread. The Sox have tanked already, big time. If you are saying you want a 40 to 50-game losing streak, well, the commissioner might get involved at that point. I mean the nature of the game of baseball is you'll win every once in a while, even with a team as bad as the Sox. You can't just throw games or suspensions will be involved (Black Sox).

QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 03:23 AM) Why the fk is Jordan Danks up in the majors? The guy is probably the worst MLB player of all time.... He stinks, but we've had some pretty bad players the last few years. I won't go through the list of my least favorite players. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 03:30 AM) If De Aza wasn't so BAD at base running he would be one of the best lead off hitters in MLB. Is productivity with RISP is amazing....& the pop in his bat speaks for itself, just wish he would use his speed a tad more at the top with bunts & whatnot. He's a pretty good hitter. Wish he'd walk more. Is there hope for him? Or is he not in the Sox future plans because of the bad baserunning and defensive lapses?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 06:16 AM) You're crazy for thinking Paulie would get that deal or take it. It's almost a lock he retires this offseason. Just appreciate him while we can. Why would he quit as his current age? If he feels his back can hold out, he would want that money wouldn't he? He'll be 38 next march 5. He hit .298 a year ago with 26 homers and 76 RBI. This year he's down to .241, 8 and 36 ribbies. but he has struck out 50 times in 333 at bats. I personally feel it'll be a health issue. He knows his body. The reporters have not even addressed him retiring yet, have they? I have a feeling when we see that story, we're going to hear Paulie wants to keep playing. Maybe he'll quit as he turns 38; maybe not. Until we hear from Paulie speaking to reporters, how can we assume anything? We don't know what Paul is thinking.
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 05:47 AM) I just can't see a scenario where he doesn't retire. I think he'll sign a two-year deal with another team. Maybe 3 years. If he feels like his back can hold up, how can he resist making another 15 million? I bet he gets 5 mill a year from somebody for 2-3 years. Jeff Francouer has been in the big leagues the past several years for gosh sakes. Even this current Paulie is as good a hitter as a Francouer.
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 04:54 AM) You can throw that .225 out the door right now. The hitter he's been the last 2 months+ you can proudly say that he's our best hitter. You are probably right, but if a team claims Dunn, he will go to that team. Sox will rejoice to get out of paying him IMO. The team that claims him better have $$$ cause they are going to get him. My prediction.
-
QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 02:03 AM) Not necessarily. They'd run the risk of the Sox just giving them the contract, like how we got Rios in the first place. No way the cheap ass Royals will risk that. Paying Rios or Dunn next year? Cmon. No way. This team is owned by Wal Mart for gosh sakes.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:48 PM) Irrelevant. With the Sox offense, any go-ahead HR by the opposing team is a walkoff, home or away. True, what's the record for all time losses in a row? I'd assume we lose all 3 weather permitting, so that's 13. That would have to be the record?? -
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 06:24 PM) It's not out of the question. He's been hot, warm climate, Texas boy, doesn't have to carry the team....there are some factors that would make him appealing to the Rangers. I know he's hit some dingers but one of my least favorite Sox players of all time. Please take him, Texas, please. I'd love to see Thome take some more hacks. He could replace Dunn for the rest of this season. We're not winning anything anyway.

I was watching the Chicago pawn shop reality TV show today. I feel like I was getting addicted to it. Those 2 brothers are quite the characters. I loved when one brother got a tip on a horse and went to see the horse run with some mafioso-type guy. Entertaining stuff. The horse won.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 09:33 PM) Greg, I don't think you are a bad guy. I know you genuinely want the team to do well. We all want the team to do well. Taking a step back in this case to eventually reach sustained success is necessary though. That's all I will say. The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result. Every time I see one of your posts I want to respond. But it is insane to respond because nothing is going to change with you. I would stop arguing fellas. Just going to give yourself a headache. Yes but this ineptitude is reaching new lows in Sox history. It's embarrassing to be a fan of the team and yet nothing changes. Ten in a row has to be approaching franchise record for losses.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) Axelrod and Flowers continue their audition for independent leagues. Axelrod's Sox career has to be over soon. No reason to trot him out there any more. I agree with you about Flowers. He's done.

Sox are losing again? You have got to be s***ting me!!! My gawd.

Wasn't Luke Hochevar the No. 1 overall pick in MLB draft? Yeah, the draft is an exact science. -

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 01:47 AM) The Sox need hitters with a good recognition of the strike zone who can take a walk more than they need guys who outwardly express their desire to win. I like guys who show their desire to win by their actions on the field like Hunter and AJ and Peavy. Peavy was kicking and screaming when Ozzie tried to take him out of a game. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 01:45 AM) What this organization needs is more talent. Why not root for Hahn to have the best chance possible of acquiring the most talented players available? Cause I feel we're going to get a great pick whether it's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. And I am embarrassed by this piece of s*** team. It's embarrassing to have your team tank like this. The media should be lambasted for not getting an audience with Reinsdorf. I can't believe the owner hasn't called out this pathetic team yet pubicly. The poor fans who bought season tickets. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 01:42 AM) Peavy's "attitude" sure did wonders to motivate the team this season. There's got to be something about our clubhouse that doesn't allow bulldogs like Peavy to lead. Peavy's great attitude helped his own performance (when he wasn't on the DL) but it must be an unwritten rule Sox players have to shut up and mind their own business and not lead in the "professional" clubhouse we have. -

Man I wish I could be as bad at my job as the White Sox players and coaches and make the kind of money they do. WTF? Loss after loss after loss. Yay! We get some pitcher as No. 1 draft pick in 2014. Just what we need, another good pitcher. -

I was in favor of trading Peavy and we got a good haul in return for him, but he's another guy I'd want on my re-built Sox team cause of his attitude. Sox have a bunch of passive pathetics IMO.
