  1. Do you think Hector is learning how to pitch this year? He has good stuff sometimes and good stretches, then lousy innings like this one as early as the 4th inning?
  2. Dunn hasn't homered since the All Star break. I wonder why the Sox suddenly have no power. Sox are really defenseless unless the pitcher hurls a shutout and we don't get many of those either.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 06:59 PM) Two home runs for Wil Myers today. Ho hum. Man. The worst possible scenario for KC is happening. He looks like a star and the Rays have been on fire since he came up. Meanwhile, Wade Davis is horrible (sans his White Sox starts) and Shields has been very good. KC needs to keep winning and make a run for the division to take the heat off Dayton Moore for a trade that end his career. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 06:59 PM) But throwing money at big time free agents is an exact science, isn't that right Greg "Dunn and Rios' biggest fan" 775. Edit: Yes, Rios wasn't a FA, but we took on a massive contract. Yeah, I was against the Rios deal. We need trades that work, like acquiring Jermaine Dye.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 06:58 PM) I prefer a world series win for the White Sox. These twits on the field f***ed over any chance of that this year, so now I'm rooting for us to be in the best position possible for next year. Yeah, I hope the roster is much better next year. It'd be nice to have some position players as good as the pitchers.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 06:48 PM) You're a better man than I...I can't watch if I'm going to be asked to cheer for either of those outcomes...and honestly, I don't think the former would happen nearly as much if we accomplished the latter. I don't need to wait four years for a high schooler to come up to the majors when he could be a major bust like Luke Hochevar, et. all. It's too much of an inexact science. I prefer wins for the Chicago White Sox.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 06:40 PM) The benefit is that the three hours a day I spend watching are better spent Very well put.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 07:58 AM) But that stunts his growth. Wouldn't be a good move. Maybe ptatc can tell us if it'd be smart to shut him down. I'm at the point I'd consider it even though it's tough to just put a pitcher on hold cause his team stinks. I feel so sorry for Sale. It's impossible to go 1-8 with an ERA like that.
  8. Rios got nailed pretty good on Twitter tonight. Just did a search. People ridiculing him pretty badly.
  9. Chris Sale is 1-8 with a 2.84 ERA in his last 10 starts. Amazing. I feel for Mr. Sale.
  10. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:46 AM) The way Alex Rios has been treated makes me really dislike some Sox fans. I was born and raised south of Madison. Some of the s*** I read really pisses me off. Great site. Really appreciate some of the posters, but the mouth breathers f***jng suck. They were probably the same b****es calling Derrick Rose a p****. Chicago tough, right? The Rios haters are just mad at the way he butchered that play tonight. Some of us get mad when guys are paid as much money as he is to consistently make dumb mistakes.
  11. Here's the Royals' announcers take on Rios' mistake. They both played MLB and both said Rios f***ed up. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/mlb/gameda...&mode=video
  12. I'm surprised again this season at how badly we play against the horrible teams in our own division. As bad as the Sox are, you'd think they'd run into a lot of victories vs. the Clevelands, KCs, Minnie's of the world.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 03:47 AM) The White Sox are 9th in baseball in batting average with RISP. They are 27th in OBP. They are getting hits when runners are on, it's just that people aren't getting on base very often. Stats don't lie. That amazes me, though. Seems like they get so few clutch hits.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:11 AM) Rios postgame comment: To tell you the truth, I don't think there is much I could have done . Holland's postgame comment: I don't know what Rios was thinking but we got lucky there. I give him credit for talking to the media apparently and not hiding in the food room, but I disagree with his sentiment. Kudos to Holland if he had the balls to say that about an opposing player. I wish Mariotti had not been such a tool. We could use a columnist like him in town who bashes people. Can you imagine the material he woulda had to work with the last couple years? I realize he's pathetic as far as his personal life, but we could use some loudmouth columnist who bashes players/managers, etc.
  15. Right now I'd settle for trading Rios for whatever Hahn can get (I'm sure I'll be pissed if Sox have to pay a lot of his salary while he's doing the Rios thing for another team), Lindstrom and Crain (if it's possible to deal a guy on the DL) for whatever Hahn can get and a trade of Dunn again for whatever Hahn can get. For the life of me, I can't see getting a very productive return on any of those guys. Hopefully I'm mistaken. I wonder if we'll all be surprised and Paulie would approve a trade to a contender and will be dealt to an NL team. I don't want to see him on a Central Division team or something like that. I always liked Peavy and if we keep him, maybe our front office will try harder to get some offense via free agency this offseason, figuring our starting pitching is robust.
  16. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:34 PM) Oh, apparently you don't attend many games yourself. I go to 20 games a year and don't stand for Rios style of play. I think he is the only player I have ever booed on the Sox. Go watch the first couple innings of Wednesday night's game and consider the scouts in attendance. I don't feel bad for someone making 13 million dollars a year to play baseball. That is a part of his job to deal with "hecklers." I would kill to be able to do what he does and he shows no regard for himself, the White Sox or the city he plays for. To be clear, all I said to him was, "Thanks for hustling for the scouts." Rios is a douche bag and that is known in Toronto as it is here in Chicago. Not to mention, he just embarrassed/ripped our manager who yanked him for not hustling and then continues to not hustle. If you don't like how a manager handles you not hustling then f***ing hustle. Simple as that. I don't condone heckling a guy in person, but I understand the sentiment. I would never actually boo Rios but he's definitely my least favorite Sox of all time. At least Dunn tries. That slide tonight by Dunn was stellar where he busted Getz's chops in breaking up the DP. I always think Pudge Fisk might punch Rios in the mouth on the occasions Rios loafs. Maybe that's not the case but I'd like to hear Fisk's take on Rios.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:47 AM) He would have for sure. He also might have if he went back to 3rd when the RF started to dive. Worst case scenerio if he tagged up, and the ball dropped and he couldn't score , which tonight with the guy on the ground he scores easily either way, would have been bases loaded one out instead of 2 out man on 3rd. It was a dumb display. I know there are some big Rios apologists on here, but if it was their job to scout him for another team and it was their reputation and job on the line, how do you ignore the loafing? How do you ignore sliding into second on a base hit on a hit and run because the SS is deeked you? How many fall for that? How do you ignore the less than .700 OPS the last 2 months? How do you ignore tonight's gaffe? As much as people hate me, they should love Dick Allen. How can you not love this post and agree with it 100 percent?? Dick Allen for MVP of the board. Great post IMO.
  18. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:51 AM) Kind of agree and I feel real bad for Sale but I want this team to lose. That's how bad they are and it infuriates me that I feel this way, but I WANT them to lose. In all my years, I've never felt this way. Sometimes I think I want them to lose, and that it doesn't matter and losing might help in the long run, but tonight proved to me I'm not yet capable of feeling that way. When Rios f***ed up, I first laughed then freaked out. I still want the good guys to win badly.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 09:02 PM) I certainly don't feel like "Basepath cloggers" is a problem with this team at all. Guys like Alexei and Rios are having stellar seasons of stealing bases. DeAza's pretty fast too. But it's still station to station with absolutely nobody getting the hits with men on base.
  20. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 02:49 PM) I think it's more the fact that they can't score runs period. Via homerun or otherwise. The only team that has scored less runs this year is the Marlins. Yes, it's amazing no matter who is pitching (except Verlander, we can hit him) we go down meekly. Wade Davis is no Gary Peters. Wade Davis is no LaMarr Hoyt. Wade Davis is no Mark Buehrle.
  21. Somebody at work made an interesting point. They said it looked like Paulie swung at ball four and it coulda been bases loaded and nobody out. Interesting take from Royals' fans IMO. But I calmly polled everybody here and THEY ALL said Rios made the wrong call and he'd have scored easily whether the ball was caught or fell for a hit had he simply tagged up like I was taught to do in Little League.
  22. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:02 AM) 1.I dont give a s*** about the people you work with 2. Screaming and making ridiculous comments about Rios even after the awful play is trolling. You do this even if there isnt a freakin game on. I'm still trying to figure out what Rios did to your family to cause all this hostility. What you call trolling I call reacting with honest emotion (anger). It was obvious the guy was going to dive. By diving, no matter what happens (ball landing in glove or hitting ground) Rios scores if he tags up. Seriously, listen to the Royals' announcers call of the play. Hudler busted out laughing and said something like. 'what more can they do (to help KC)?" I am in favor of keeping Robin after he showed he was a leader in disciplining Rios, but how many of these type games can he take before just resigning in the offseason??
  23. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:51 AM) This. Though I have no idea how good Loughs arm is. If he lets the ball drop and makes an accurate throw Rios is cooked anyway. All of Loughs momentum was going toward home plate. Guys, I disagree. If Rios tags up, even if it drops he jogs in. That's why guys like Hudler were laughing. I'd love to hear what Hawk and Stoney said and what the Sox radio guys said. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:51 AM) I don't think for one second a scout cares about that play in the 9th. If anything, they might think they can get him to care more playing on a better team. I just disagree on this. I just don't see why a contending team would want to take on Jose Guillen Rios unless the Sox pay almost all of his contract. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:52 AM) No I blame the troll that frequents this board aka you. Ask the people where I work if I am a troll. We all were watching the game on TV here (all Royals fans plus me) and I FREAKED out after initially laughing, then screaming. Trolls do not care like I CARE.
  24. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:49 AM) No because it doesnt matter what Rios does you just spout the same s*** over and over again. Take your pills and hit the bed. Don't blame the messenger. I freak out when he does something insanely bad that costs us games. The last time I freaked was his infamous not running it out.
  25. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:48 AM) That play was a little tougher than we're making it seem. If he stays at third and the ball hits the ground (especially with no dive), he can't score. He basically had to decide in mid-air if it was more likely to be caught or not caught. He thought it wouldn't be caught, because of course it shouldn't have been. Rex Hudler did the same thing I did. Broke out into laughter at Rios' play.
