Marlins trade Buehrle, Josh Johnson, Reyes plus others to Blue Jays
greg775 replied to Baron's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) I loved Buehrle when he was here, but it's tough to feel that bad. Go to Canada for a few years and earn your $48 million. Nobody else was giving him that dollar amount. It's easy to feel bad for him. He got f***ed by the Marlins. They screwed him over. He's a total class act and he got hosed. If Ozzie had pulled this crap of reneging on a verbal agreement to not trade him he'd be buried on this site. -
2012-2013 Official NHL thread

Forgive my rant here: Hockey is the most poorly run sport in the history of mankind. Here we are with another work stoppage, another lost season. You've got Fehr holding out like this is the national pastime, baseball. This is hockey, a sport with a very very very limited fanbase and limited TV dollars. What the hell do the players want? Seems to me they make a helluva lot of money compared to the amount of money in the pot in this sport with a limited audience. So this season is wiped out. After killing a whole season do you think the owners will cave at all next summer? It'll be back to the negotiating tables again about next September and they'll have 3 weeks to get a deal done again. At least football was smart enough to realize they had to get a deal done. Hockey? What a bunch of morons to let this drag out like this again. -
Tell the truth, during the season you all have to check soxtalk religiously to see what wild thing Greg has said about Ozzeroo. Kidding. I first look at yahoo which pops up on the screen and often has amazing stories on the front page that catch my interest. Then soxtalk, my fantasy teams, twitter, my email, tmz believe it or not, sun times.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 12:55 AM) Like what breeds? Rotts and Pincers, both commonly trained as guard/attack dogs? I agree, its the people who put the fight in the dog, im not saying the dog is the issue. Look, not all pits are bred to fight. I know this. But there are many that are, and they do fight unfortunately. I think most of Marks own pitbulls are rescued and rehabbed fighters including his Staffordshire. It may not be a correct way to deal with it, but these towns/cities/counties decided its better to say stay out than to put forth the resources to combat the underground fighting industry. my ex girlfriends dad trained and bred Pincers for police. Her house dog almost took my face off once and i was just standing there minding my own business. Scared the absolute hell out of me. This is a great thread. That dog went for your face?? Scary. My parents, who are docile people, had a german shepherd that hopped over the fence to chase down a jogger and the shepherd bit the guy in the leg. fortunately for my parents the jogger was a great guy and only made my parents pay for his trip to emergency to check himself out. Why did the Shepherd do that except for the fact it is a mean breed? My parents got rid of the dog and it may even have been put down for its transgression. I forget. My aunt, who gave my parents the dog and is a huge dog and horse lover, was PISSED and wouldn't talk to my mom, her sister, for a long time.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 01:28 AM) No they shouldn't. Why? Acquire Mark and trade 2 of our lefties. It will help our team A LOT. Mark is like a pitcher/coach he's so efficient. -
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) Wasn't the $1 upper reserved only? Using my playoff deposit to get 4 tickets to every Suunday game with parking. Will tailgate with family. Great deal. Awesome, have fun Harry. This is what baseball is supposed to be about. FAMILY!!! It'll be like the good ol days for you on Sundays, weather permitting!
-
Where are the people rebutting their stance that the Sox would rather have 20,000 people at the old, inflated prices and expensive parking than consistently drawing more with 10 dollar parking on Sundays and much cheaper seating options?
-
QUOTE (sayitaintso @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) I'm really glad to see these prices available now, it's already making me more inclined to go to games considering that I don't have to break the bank anymore. Good job, White Sox. I'll resist the temptation to say, "What took you so long?" So much for baseball teams not caring about even trying to sell the nosebleed cheap seats. I remember this past season in some threads people indicated the Sox and all teams would rather draw 20,000 to 25,000 fans on their terms than draw 40,000 with cheaper parking, cheaper ticket prices, etc. If the Sox continue to market this hard and get the word out, many families will probably be putting some dates on the calendar to actually attend some games this season. The Sox have wised up. There's no way in hell attendance would have not declined again next season for the seventh straight year without these cost reductions. I wonder if we'd be seeing this movement had the Sox not choked and actually won the division. My bet is yes. I'm actually surprised the playoff games were going to be sold out like some of you said they would be, considering the Yankees didn't sell out their games. Sox deserve credit; now the key is to make sure all former Sox fans who stopped going to games are aware they can get in the park for affordable, fair prices if they do just a tad bit of planning.

This latest Loria fiasco should rejuvenate Ozzie's career. Loria is a disgrace to the game with this trade with Toronto. I just wish the Sox fleeced him like Toronto did. Anyway, Ozzie should be fine again with Loria the laughingstock of sports. Nobody can or should work for Loria. I wish Oz's contract would let him get another job, though. He shouldn't have to sit around collecting paychecks but doing nothing else. Loria's the one who fired him. I think when the Royals fire Yost next season in May, Oz would be perfect for KC.

QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 12:02 AM) Sox should trade Viciedo, Thompson, Sanchez, Santiago, and any two other eligible-to-be-traded milb players to the Marlins for Stanton. Sox missed the boat. The Marlins were ripe for the picking. Sad, sad sad we couldn't be the team to make that deal that Toronto made with the worst owner in all of sports history, Loria. -
Talked to my friend who invests money of only the richest people and said he is "devastated" by Obama's re-election. He said he didn't want to go into it, but basically said the economy is doomed and we are in deep trouble. Just passing on what he told me.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 04:51 PM) After Obama reelection coal company CEO reads prayer to staff, announces layoff Job Creators! Sounds like this guy was pretty happy about throwing a fit and laying people off.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 08:57 AM) I think Beckham and De Aza stay, Floyd goes no matter what, and Viciedo only goes if we sign a stud OF and with Floyd in a mega trade. You never know. Our new GM might just not like these guys. We don't really have a replacement for losing 2 outfielders, though. I'd rather have DeAza and Viciedo than some guys out there. Hope he makes smart trades. But our new GM might hate Viciedo type players for all we know (hack at everything). He might figure Beckham is a hopeless case, a .240ish type hitter and he might figure Floyd really has no significant upside anymore. And he might figure DeAza is just another guy who really does nothing spectacular, though he is solid. Interesting.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 06:43 PM) 1) Food stamps 2) Food smushed and cut into the shape of stamps 3) Ink stamps of food 4) Postage stamps with pictures of food on them 5) Edible postage stamps Rush Limbaugh says it's impossible to beat Santa Claus. How bout the Republicans of which I am one, coming up with a candidate that women actually tolerate, blacks actually tolerate and Hispanics actually tolerate? A candidate that doesn't make them puke. Didn't Obama win HUGE in all 3 categories? But old white rich men like Romney and the Republican candidates. Only problem here is the old white rich men own a lot of businesses and this gives them an excuse to continue laying people off, outsourcing and all that ridiculous stuff.
-
Look, some of us just couldn't vote for Romney. What a horrible horrible candidate. I mean I agree Obama is a miserable president, but don't blame us for voting for him when his opponent was Romney. My god. What a miserable choice. And Romney didn't even really say what he would do to turn it around. I went with the least of two evils in my opinion. If I get laid off soon or fired, so be it. I'm thinking Romney for sure was the candidate of the rich bastards ruining this country. So have fun, rich bastards, start laying everybody off just because Obama won. Deep down they probably like laying everybody off and making their surviving employees work 10 times as hard for slashed pay. Our country is in trouble, but not because Obama won. How the hell do you know Romney wouldn't have been even worse for the economy?? I thought everybody was blaming the economic downturn on the Republicans in the first place with incompetent Obama merely continuing it.

I did it.

Chris Matthews is a f***ing moron for what he said. That is all.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 05:43 AM) Nah, I just told her she was really pretty and seemed like a cool chick when we were talking at the party. Told her I wanted to get her number, but we were having too much fun playing beer pong at the time, and she left before I could get it. Then asked if she was talking to anybody, and if she was, that was cool but I would kicking myself if I didn't at least ask. Blah blah blah. She is actually mutual friends with like 11 people on facebook, one being my cousin, so I mentioned after she replied back that I might run in to her again sometime since she is friends with my cousin. She asked who my cousin is, and that's where we stand right now. I'm not expecting anything but friendly conversation. Hopefully she asks my cousin about me and my cousin puts in a good word! (we all go to the same school). Good job. It was worth a shot.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 12:21 AM) Girl finally responded on Facebook. Said she is "talking to someone" right now, but thought my message was sweet and she hopes to see my around at that person's house again. Oh well, I gave it a shot. I remember there being a guy that was touchy with her while we were playing pong, but I didn't know if maybe he was just drunk. Either way, glad I asked at least. What was your message to her on FB? Did u ask her out or something?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 10:57 PM) All that s*** about Romney was to get viewers. Flipping between basically all of the networks last night, until about 9am you could tell they were just bulls***ting, trying to make it sound like it was going to be a tight race. I wondered about that. Whitlock called them on it and said they were lieing to America that the race never was close. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 10:57 PM) you're not horribly sexist at all! Reddy. You know that since the days of Nixon when he sweated on TV, people have been voting how people look. No ugly person stands a chance. As far as my voting patterns, please don't call me sexist. I am a lifelong Republican and I voted for Obama. Why? I thought he was the better of two horrific candidates. Please ... I will vote for whomever I think is best. Trust me. I was an undecided until I went in the booth. I just couldn't vote for Romney whom I consider to be a clown. I'm just saying ALOT of people vote on looks, etc. It's been discussed for decades; how candidates look on TV. And hillary can come across as a huge b****. I prolly shouldn't have said old hag.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 10:50 PM) As long as the economy is halfway decent, if Hillary is the next candidate, and Bill is still able to campaign for her, I think she will win easily. Bill Clinton is the biggest rockstar in politics. Without him, I don't think Obama wins. Yes, but we don't know how Hillary is going to act as the candidate. If she is Miss Prissy b**** as she's appeared to be in the past, I say she loses. In fact she could lose in a landslide. Remember, there are still intangibles in elections. Many voters still go by how a person looks on TV. If Hillary looks like an old hag and speaks words of b****iness and Rubio is up there all handsome and all that, he'll win in a landslide. I don't think you can give it to Hillary just because of Bill. Remember, women voted big time for Obama; men chose Romney. Women may not vote for Hillary just because she will be the first female president. And we know a lot of men will not vote for her just because she is a woman. The intangibles still leave a lot of unknowns ... mainly the Hillary/b**** factor on a long campaign trail.

I got a kick out of the post election coverage at least on msnbc. Before the election they were saying how close the race was and a nailbiter, then the minute the thing is over they say the Republicans will never win a presidential election again, the Republicans are a disgrace, blah blah blah blah. Let me say this, if the Republicans have a better candidate for once or a more popular candidate, that person will win. Or let's say the Democrats go with Hillary and people early on deem her a wretched b****. Well, the Republican candidate Rubio in that case will likely win and win big. I just got a kick out of how all of a sudden the Republicans are a joke and will never win, when a day earlier, some were saying Romney might even win. It all changes in one day? Give me a break, Democratic pundits. The truth is, Obama was a very very very weak choice, in fact a joke of a choice. But the Republicans threw out there an even worse candidate somehow. And I am somebody who voted for Obama saying this. Yes I voted for Obama and still think he is a wretched president. It's just that Romney is way worse and I did want to vote.
-
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 07:12 AM) Exactly. Obama and Romney are probably very similar when it comes to their personal beliefs. Not trying to anger anybody, just stand up for God. Notice both candidates mentioned God a lot in their speeches tonite. How do people like Bill Maher accept this?? How do those on here who don't believe in God react to this?? Maher mocks anybody who says there is a God. Kudos to both Obama and Romney for not being afraid of religion!!!

Now that Obama has won, there's absolutely no reason for Republicans in Congress to block his every move. If they continue to do so, I really hope/pray they all get their asses kicked out of Congress in their next elections. Obama has 4 more years then it'll be Hillary vs. Whomever. So let him get his measures PASSED. Give him a chance. There's absolutely no f***ing reason to block his measures cause he can't run again. Agree??? Fire all bastards who refuse to cooperate with the president the next four years. I mean if he tries to pass something ridiculous, where he's appeared to have lost his mind, yes call Obama on it. But let him do what he can to get the economy going, etc. I mean our country may no longer be the best in the world in four years if things continue on this path. If the economy is 10 times worst in four years, then all those Congressmen who are blocking Obama may be guaranteeing their kids and grandkids HORRIBLE futures. Time to cooperate, assholes!!!

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) Interesting that over the last week or so more have become "toss-ups," at least according to realclearpolitics. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/20...ollege_map.html Still Obama with the 1-3% lead in most of those. I'd be surprised if Romney won, but I don't think it would be unheard of. There's a lot of close states and if more people than expected show up he could easily win a few of those big states. Edit: It's also pretty sad when you look at how much less people are voting (or expected to vote) for Obama than 4 years ago. A competent Republican candidate would have cleaned house in this election. Unfortunately, you have to sell your soul to the devil to get elected as the GOP candidate, even if you truly are more moderate. Great post. I can't believe the Republicans could only come up with this Romney guy.
