QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 07:22 PM) LMAO Why u laughing? I've never seen any poster make posts like the one I cited than u. Why do you do that? I never post comments about other people's posting tendencies (except right now).

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 10:56 PM) Make predictions all you want. But your complacent/not complacent reasoning was beyond stupid. Giants obviously didn't win last year because they were complacent from 2010. But after disappointment in 2011, they decided you know what, let's win it again, so they did. But next year, they'll be complacent, that will be THE reason they won't win the world series. Most players in post-game interviews already said "I don't give two s***s what happens next year, I'm on cruise control." The Giants support my theory. Thank you. Detroit hasn't completed the deal. They have all these high priced players who are going to want to win the WS. Had they won it all, maybe they'd have lost that edge, yes, been complacent and/or lazy. You guys deny the mental edge of baseball? You think it's not possible Rios gets complacent and lazy after last season?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) just let him go, oldsox wants every opportunity to complain about management decisions, whether it makes sense or not You seem to get worked up about other people's posts. Some people like but don't love Jake. For instance, I don't discount how even in a quality start, there's trouble brewing in the 7th and 8th with him because of the fact he won't come out of games. That means even Jake's dominant starts can turn to hell in a hurry. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 04:31 PM) Anyone that thinks this was not a good move is not paying attention. It's a very good move because of the innings he'll eat up. It's scary to think of all those innings for the fill in guys if we lose one of our real starters. Danks has to get healthy and be effective and Floyd has to take the next step if we want to have a stellar starting rotation to go with Sale. Losing Peavy would have been bad had we had to give the ball to somebody like Santiago before he learns how to pitch.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) Sale-Peavy-Danks-Floyd-Q Dirty. Just dirty. Santiago-Axelrod not bad as depth, either. I hope it is nasty. s*** happens like this past year where Danks was hurt and Floyd was out a bit as well and Q was crummy late in the season. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 11:39 PM) Yeah, this was the least surprising move of the off season to me. Not that there was a lot of doubt in my mind, but this officially means good-bye to Liriano. Thank God. Bye bye Liriano.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 04:38 PM) They better watch out for the Padres and Dodgers who should have an easy path to the playoffs over the now complacent and lazy Giants. You guys mock my declarations a lot, but I challenge you to go back and read some of my predictions in the past. I was taught to never toot your own horn so I don't brag when my predictions are correct which they were A LOT this past season.

QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) Completely agree, dude stinks I think he's closer to "dude stinks" than "he's going to be an All Star." Beckham is a huge disappointment and part of me thinks it's his damn approach at the plate. Hit some line drive singles, Gordon, instead of popping the ball up so much.

I'm thinking AJ is this offseason's version of Mark. Sox saying bye bye. It makes too much sense. Flowers makes much less money and they will give him a shot. I'm assuming we have somebody in AAA who will be Tyler's backup?

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 03:00 AM) Hopefully you realize this is only bulls*** the fans believe brought on by no talent idiot announcers working for major networks. Also, Tiger fans aren't the biggest Leyland supporters. Let's face it the only way we can beat out Detroit is if Detroit sucks whether thru complacency or laziness. They are smart enough to realize all they have to do is win this s***ty division to position themselves for a nice run to the WS. On paper they are so much better than anybody else in our division because of $$. My hope would be they won it all to get it out of their system. Now they can sleepwalk all year again if they wish, let their talent take over the final two weeks and in head to head meetings vs. the Sox when they get up for the games, and the rest is history. Does anybody think there's any way in hell we beat them out next year? It'd be a massive upset to win the division and we know we're not gonna win the wild cards. I simply despise having to play our divisional teams 19 times. That is yet another of the things very very wrong with baseball. And it was all so the Yankees and Red Sox could play 19 times. Horrible and it is killing the White Sox. We far way better against teams outside the Central. The Sox just can't get up for these lousy Central Division teams. And with Buehrle maybe heading to Minnie, damn, we are doomed IMO
-
No way I'll celebrate this. Now Detroit will be hungry again next year to get back to the playoffs and Series to complete the deal. Now Leyland will stay to try to complete the deal. This sucks. Detroit got embarrassed totally. Fielder will want revenge next year.

2012-2013 MLB off season tracker thread
greg775 replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
This is why WE HAVE TO acquire Buehrle. The Marlins don't need him and if the Twins get him, you might as well forget about the Sox making the playoffs. He will mow our team down in at least five starts. He knows how to get our free swingers out. Might as well play Dunn in ZERO of those games Mark pitches. We must acquire Buehrle. If he goes to the Twins, that's five losses to him right there, to go with all the losses to Chen and Guthrie and Verlander. My god. Just trade them Beckham for Mark and be done with it. -
This again shows how the Sox losing so many games to Detroit is all mental. That team can't hit a baseball and can't field a baseball and has no bullpen. NL continues dominance of AL ... interesting.
-
I wanna know when the NL passed the AL in terms of winning the big ones.
-
I predict Obama is a lock to win.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 28, 2012 -> 06:00 AM) It shows nothing. The AL was better than the national league this year despite the fact that the Giants are likely going to win the world series. There are no dominant teams in baseball right now and when you have a short series anything is possible. I beg to differ that the AL is better than the NL.

Cool Immy. Can Benet beat Oswego? Do u like Benet's team? -
The AL should be embarrassed. Giants should not be up, 3-0.

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 27, 2012 -> 11:17 PM) I'd hire greg for a variety of things. I think he'd be very trainable for a variety of things and I'd imagine he'd be very loyal to my company. I would ban him from any company social gatherings if they involve watching White Sox baseball, though Yay. Thank u thank u.

QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 27, 2012 -> 05:44 PM) So how many times does Volstad shut out the Sox next year? Ugh. Well we know Chen beats us on opening day then Volstad in the second game. Pray for rain.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) Beckham is one of the last priorities for this team. They have to get third base, catcher, and the pitching staff figured out before they worry about 2B. Unless it lines up that someone is willing to trade a 2B that we really like for someone we dont' care about, I don't see anything change at second between now and spring. I know he's not a priority, but would you agree he's an average at best baseball player? He's really no better than a healthy Getz IMO. Now will Gordon improve? We can hope but he's been a disappointment to me at least.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 08:06 PM) nobody hates you greg. They disagree with you and your views vehemently QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) Greg it's the internet man, no one hates you. That is somewhat borderline delusions of grandeur. Sweet. I sensed some hatred.
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) Greg is a troll or a very young person. The very nature of his reasoning leads most to believe that. If Detroit wins they will become complacent? I don't even know how to respond to the absurdity of that post. ALL teams are trying to win it all every year. Who says "welp, we won last year, f*** everything else." It feels good to see the GIANTS hammer the overrated Tigers. I did feel bad for Fister though, we may root against a team but noone wants to see people get hurt in the process. QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 07:00 PM) Makes it that much sadder... I think a lot of people agree with my views, they just don't post a lot. The people that hate me are the ones that post.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 04:48 AM) Thanks brotha, I also managed to borrow 800 dollars between 3 people so it's gonna happen...Getting a cheap craigslist car that HOPEFULLY lasts me 2 months while I save for somethin nice. It's a 7 days a week job, is that even legal?? I won't mind it for a few months but I'm def gonna be looking for a security job the whole time I'm there. It's legal but if you work more than 40 hrs make sure you get overtime. What are you going to do at the plant?

The Tigers thank the American League for losing the all star game again and again losing homefield advantage. This will be the third year in a row the NL wins the WS. Wow.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 02:38 AM) The Sox fan I know rooting for Detroit was born in Detroit and raised on the South Side. Otherwise, the entire city of Detroit can f*** itself. f*** AL Pride. I'd root for the Orioles, Blue Jays, Rays, Mariners, (and next year) Astros from the AL. That's it. I can't stand any team in our division, the Yankees or Red Sox, the Rangers, Angels, and A's. I'll never root for Detroit in the WS unless they play the Cubs. My point is it helps the Sox if Detroit wins it all. First of all, it should be the Sox playing the Giants. The fact Detroit breezed through the playoffs proves that could have been the Sox had the team not choked/ran out of gas/whatever. The second reason is Detroit will be complacent and lazy if they finally win it all. If they lose, they'll be pumped up to get back to the playoffs again. I mean our division is really s***ty. If they fall short, all they have to do is win a lousy division and try again. If they win it all, they'll maybe loaf and not care as much and Sox will be in better position.

Adam Dunn - Sporting News Comeback Player of the Year Winner
greg775 replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Would anybody be sad if the big fella was traded? Not me. What about Dunn for ARod and the Yankees pay all but 1 mill of ARod's salary?? We'd have a third baseman as stopgap and would be able to have Dan Johnson be DH.
