  1. Hopefully the Tigers complete the deal, but the NL has had the AL's number lately in the WS. If Detroit wins, they may be complacent next season which will help the Sox and any other contenders in our division.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 03:41 AM) Ozzie s***s on the fans, the players, and the owners while burning bridges left and right. Not sure why you all can't see why he's so awesome like greg775 and I do. Too bad Ozzie doesn't have a bit more money where he could be an owner. His ego is at the point he probably can't ever manage again. He pretty much has proven he has to be left alone. He can't stand any criticism, hence his blasting his owner publicly. If I were Ozzie, I'd have my agent get me a TV job with the promise he's entering speech lessons right now in preparation for next season. He's perfect for TV ... if you can understand him.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 11:52 PM) Haha hell no. As long as KW and Coop are in this organization, Ozzie ain't coming back. I personally think Oz is a lot more likeable than grumpy Coop, whose pitching staff just sucked the last three weeks BTW. But Coop gets a free pass.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 11:48 PM) There's being a kissass and then there's telling the person who signs your checks that he's incompetent. I'm don't talk badly about anybody above me, let alone that guy. Beyond that, regardless of the truth to which Guillen speaks, there is some pot calling the kettle black action as well, because Loria spent a good amount of money on the Marlins and they had a lot of talent, and, with Guillen at the helm, the Marlins had their worst season since 1999. There's a lot of blame to go around, I'm not questioning that. But the guy with the bigger stick is still around, and he's going to continue to make terrible decisions. That doesn't detract from how poorly Guillen managed that team. Reasonable points, but how do you guys avoid talking about Passon's position and how he agrees with me. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 12:33 AM) No offense, but you only listen to what you want to hear about Ozzie. And what Passon wrote about Ozz.
  5. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 10:43 PM) And whats that tell you?? If he was truly a great manager an owner wouldn't care if he's a blabber mouth. ONLY job I'll take him at is a 3B coach, nothing more. Would Robin bring him aboard?
  6. To the Ozzie haters out there. Seriously. How many men in this kiss-ass-to-get-ahead world would have the guts to say this to the man who signs the checks? From Passon's excelent article on Yahoo. ... Yeah, and?: Well, one of our former managers, Fredi Gonzalez, told the Miami Herald: "There’s not a manager dead or alive that Jeffrey thinks is good enough. Not Connie Mack, not anyone." Even Ozzie, when still employed, zinged Jeffrey good: "Look yourself in the mirror and ask why so many [expletive] managers come through here." It got him fired but should make Ozzie a hero to the working class stiffs of America who can't tell their rich prick clueless bosses to f*** off.
  7. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 11:33 PM) I can't see Ozzie managing again anytime soon, maybe he'll go back to being a 3B coach where the Owner/manager forbids him from opening his yapper. I don't think there's an owner besides Jerry that would have the balls to hire Ozzie. Now the question is will Jerry bring him back in the TV or radio booth? Again, probably not cause of the language barrier. He has time, however, to get a speech coach in the offseason to learn to speak slower. Bring him back to the South Side!!! I think even you guys who hate him wouldn't mind seeing him back in some capacity, right??
  8. Ah here's a NATIONAL WRITER who has the same feelings as Greg. Read it PLEASE. ... Ozzie is not the devil but Loria and his minions? Ha. Ozzie gets the last laugh and gets paid for 3 years, no work and Loria looks for somebody that will kiss his ass. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/a-peek-at-man...len-233710.html
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 09:18 PM) Hanley Ramirez didn't. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 09:22 PM) Unlike greg, who I honestly believe does feel that Ozzie Guillen is a great manager, this feels more like a roamer who has enjoyed reading greg enough that you have started a satirical account on greg's behalf, which technically would make greg a celebrity. This guy is copying me. Don't pay attention to him. I think it's 50/50 whether Ozzie is managing next season. He probably could use a year in the booth somewhere but I think his next stop is a team full of youngsters with no expectations (Royals).
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8543189/...r-miami-marlins greg, I know you view us as "haters" and Loria as a crazy owner, but I think you should watch the video here and listen to what Jayson Stark says about Ozzie here. No offense, but that Stark stuff didn't cover much ground. He mentioned the Castro stuff a lot. Loria is insane. A lot of owners are insane but this guy is the worst. I wish the Miami media would write about the real reason Ozzie got axed. You guys think I'm full of it, but Ozzie is gone because he called out Loria. He ripped him and said that thing about "why have so many managers been here?" That was it. Oz was gone after that. I hope Ozzie blasts Loria in his exit interviews with the media or at least cracks a joke about how he'd like to thank Loria for paying him for 3 years for no work. Loria couldn't deal with the idea of looking at Ozzie one more day after Oz called him out. It's going to be tough for Oz to get another job cause he won't kiss ass. I hope he comes back to the Sox as an announcer immediately if he doesn't get the KC job. I hope the Royals get rid of Yost and hire Ozzie. He'd be perfect with a young team and it'd re-energize his career. I think it'd be a great marriage. Now don't you all say this proves I'm a Royals fan. I'm not. It kills me when the Sox get owned head to head by KC. But I do live here and I'd love to see Oz here. He gets the last laugh in Miami. All that money and he doesn't have to work for Loria and his yes men relatives anymore.
  11. So Ozzie will be back and manage against the Sox in the Cell next season? Wow is all I can say.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 21, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) I just pay for stream only thru my blu ray. It's good if you like tv shows. They don't put too many newer movies up there. For those you have to pay for the mailing service. What's the best service to see new to relatively new movies online?
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 21, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) Watched BRICK last night on Netflix streaming. Have been wanting to watchi t for awhile but was sort of boring, until the end. More disappointed than anything. And hate to sound like an old man, but couldn't really understand some of the dialogue. Lots of mumbling. I'm thinking of subscribing to netflix. is it worth it? I couldn't find a search engine to see all the movies on there.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 21, 2012 -> 02:05 AM) Thankfully Ozzie had that great playoff run as soon as got away from the Sox... I think he's trolling and pretending to be greg again.
  15. I read today that the race is a virtual tie. Is this true? Or just popular vote?? Is Obama still a lock to win?
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 21, 2012 -> 02:57 AM) But they're doing it at the expense of expanding the fanbase. They're squeezing all the money they can out of the remaining diehards. Finally, they realized (and it might be too late if we don't win in 2013, '14, '15) that they needed to try to bring some of the fans they've lost since 2006-07 back into the fold somehow. That's not how more model franchises like the Cardinals (or even the Tigers, compared to us) operate. Since the World Series, they squandered 90% of the inroads that could have been made to capitalize on that championship...and this at a time when the Cubs were cratering and finally rebuilding. That is what's sad. We won the WS and I think EVERYBODY was pretty hopeful it would be the start of something special on the South Side. It turned out to be nothing but a glorious one year wonder period. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Oct 21, 2012 -> 06:48 AM) Fact is since 2005 prices have gone up. Supply and Demand. My World Series Parking pass was $15 in 2005. $20 is a easier to stomach then $23/$25 per game. I like the moves they are making. Bill Veck always had the philosophy of getting the fans in the park & I think they are going in that direction. Let's hope this is a great start. And it's Veeck as in Wreck.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 07:37 PM) No IP's in common? Check. No email in common? Check. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 19, 2012 -> 06:15 AM) EET EES GREG'S CLOHNE! Surely you guys knew I wouldn't waste the time to make a fake account. To all u who think I'm a troll, you should read my stuff in SLAM and filibuster. We actually have some reasonable discussions/arguments and it's not about Ozzie. I AM REAL! p.s. Is Ozzie getting fired or not??
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 07:29 PM) My Looper Review. Great review. You are a good writer IMO. Just curious as what you thought of my one complain about the Rainmaker scenes being a little too out there when he starts huffing and puffing. Made me think the movie was turning into "Bad Child II" or whatever that comedy was called about the little brat. I enjoyed the flick though. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 04:35 AM) Why say calm down people like everyone is going nuts over it, if anything that is the type of thing that further irritates people. Again, you can't say it's not possible and say in a lot of ways it makes sense....... I can understand thinking that during the beginning of the movie but to think it after you are just flat out wrong and it doesn't add up. The character that was not needed was Kid Blue, it was like a forced rivalry between him and JGL that just wasn't really there. Interesting point about Kid Blue. That would be the other tiny flaw in the movie IMO. Maybe a little more of the guy in Dumb and Dumber and less Kid Blue, although admittedly they were in scenes together a lot and the hammer scene was quite powerful. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 05:11 AM) that actually doesn't make any sense. did you see the same movie the rest of us did. there's not even a reason to use spoiler tags, because it's so unrealistic and never even hinted at during the film. Actually if you read that one website there was a cool long discussion of the kid being the Joes. Like you said though it's so unrealistic for various reasons. I never thought of that scenario watching the movie but was intrigued by the Website discussion of it and could see why some people considered it a possibility.
  19. Went to see Looper. Thought it was OK to decent. Have you guys discussed that one? Thought it would have been great if it was tightened up and if the scenes with the Rainmaker didn't get all out of control. The Rainmaker turned it into kind of a Twilight Zone episode for me. I'd still give it a B to B-minus I guess.
  20. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 19, 2012 -> 04:26 AM) I don't plan on having kids, or getting into any kind of serious relationship any time soon so I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I want me a simple woman, if we have a roof of our own over our head and each other then I'm happy, and I she would be to. Some do, my last security gig you got benefits after a year of service. There's a thing called a free clinic if something serious happens before I get benefits. I played rugby for 2 years with no insurance. I'm fearless lol jkjk If I'm gonna do anything that involves me going to college it's going to be for journalism...Though it that wouldn't be a bad idea seeing as I live a block away from a hospital, it'd be nice to get in there with gas prices the way they are. Your care free attitude can be commendable. I wish I wasn't so worried about getting laid off and losing health care, etc. For some reason as you age, sometimes attitudes change. I used to be like you.
  21. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 11:22 PM) Lol I'm not afraid of s***, I like working in security. I'm a simple man. Money doesn't buy me happiness. Following my favorite sports team is what brings me happiness. Smokin ganj and watching comedies bring me happiness. Laughing is free and blissful. I don't need a fancy car, a big house or a fancy phone to make me happy, those things are overrated. Yeah, but that's not enough money to make a living someday if you want to raise a family. You better marry a woman who has a great job or is from wealth. Also does that job even pay benefits? At some point you are gonna need benefits. s*** if you are 25 and playing basketball and wrench a knee you are gonna need some bucks to pay for it.
  22. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) Yup. My choice. If I get me a security job I like making decent money then why not. I enjoy it, it makes everything better. I'd be lying if I said I haven't missed it these past few weeks. When I start working and going to this boxing club, I'll use it as an award after a hard days work...Like I did when I was playing rugby. It should be legal, its much safer than alcohol I really don't see what the problem is with it. Why is it "safer" than alcohol? Just curious. Also how old are you? You seem pretty sharp. Why are you setting limits to low paying job careers? What is a security job? Stay up all night at a company guarding something or what?
  23. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 07:12 PM) Parking should not be more than the seats. However, this may succeed in selling more 7 and 10 type game packages. They heard us 20 bucks is still a lot, but 23 was offensive. You had to not only pop out a 20 but three ones? What a joke.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 06:06 AM) Id suggest that your buddy go after her, not her dad. If she would have married him he needs to put up or shut up. He really needs to decide if he wants to be with her for the rest of his life, or if he just wants her now because he cant have her. Its hard to determine right away. I lived with a girl for almost 3 years and never proposed. Had I gotten married wed be divorced and Id be paying her money. Im not huge fan of marriage, itd mainly be for the benefits and ease if I did it. I think she is serious about moving on and he can't get her back even tho she said she would have accepted a proposal had he offered one at one time. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 05:14 PM) To be honest, once I pass a drug test I may be back. I'm a pot head, lots of people are, including like you said a lot of successful people. I don't do it because it made me look cool in high school or because I wanna follow some crowd, I do it because I enjoy it. I feel its not even a big issue anymore...legalize it already! stimulate the economy! Ron Paul 2016! That means you will be smoking again. Look, now that you gave it up, that's the hard part. Just say no for a couple years and see where your life is headed. You are thru the hardest part; don't start smoking again. It might alter your motivation.
  25. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 07:29 PM) I don't think greg is dumb enough to think that we would fall for that. Probably somebody else trying to make us think it's greg. If the guy keeps doing it they might investigate or ban him. Cause I got nothing to do with it.
