QUOTE (Tuna @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 01:24 AM) The hardest part of leaving that life is how boring normal life can get. When you're in the streets all night doing drugs and commiting crimes you get addicted to the adrenaline that comes with that. I have focused my time on work 6 days/60 hrs per week, family, sports (big into fantasy sports as well). It's really about occupying your time in a positive way. I don't think I'm destined to go back to that life. I think about consequences before making decisions, if I hit this drunk idiot tailgating next to me, the cop will see my record, they'll arrest me, let him go and I won't be going home to my family tonight. Looking like a p**** means nothing to me anymore. My family and my freedom is what matters. Great, tuna. You seem like a very good person.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 05:10 PM) OZZIE IS MAKING MONEY BABY AWESOME!! SO AWESOME!! You guys need to please erase your disdain for Ozzeroo a moment to hear me out. Olney's scoop proves Oz is out of a job. Ozzie is without a team (KC should hire him TOMORROW but that's a different topic). However I want to make a point about the whole issue. This whole thing is a microcosm of society. What Ozzie did a few weeks ago was anger a rich man, a man who has a bunch of yes men around him. This rich man (Loria) was called out (sort of) by Ozzie. Ozzie said something like, 'Why do they have so many managers that have been fired?' Or something like 'Why has he had so many managers?' When the rich f***, Loria, read those statements, that was it for Ozzie. This tells us a lot about Loria. By god, NOBODY in that man's life talks down to him; nobody in Loria's life can get away with calling him out publicly. Case closed. Ozzie said something about Loria and that is that. Oz was gone on that day. It just obviously INFURIATED Loria. Now the question is: Is Oz smart as a Fox? Did he do it to get 3 years salary for no work? Realizing that Loria is a buffoon and working for him is something you do not want to do? Or did Ozzie get caught being Ozzie again? If you hear the interview it is totally obvious Loria is overreacting. But Loria is acting like the spoiled rich boy he is. Wow! An underling like Ozzie called him out; bye bye. This is a lesson for all of us in real life. You call out your 'boss' and you are GONE! The difference here, Mr. Loria, is Ozzie is also rich. And he's a former spoiled ballplayer. Mr. Loria, if you want a yes man, butt kisser then you better hire somebody who needs the job. Ozzie never said anything bad about Jerry cause Jerry was like his second dad. The joke is on Ozzie and Loria both. Cause Loria is now the new Steinbrenner. He goes through another manager?? Wow. Or is Ozzie laughing all the way to the bank? Did Ozzie do this for the quick cash? I'd think probably not; he probably likes going to the ballpark every day ... but going to the park and having to talk to Loria and his yes-men including his adopted son??? I dunno, folks. Ozzie may be smarter than we all think....

QUOTE (Tuna @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 10:18 PM) I received a 6 year sentence in 1998, got out for a few months, went back in on a parole violation, was out for 6 months and then got another 5 year sentence. In those few months I got a girl pregnant. When I got out and introduced myself to my daughter for the first time, it was a game changer. I didn't care enough about myself to change, but I was able to for my daughter. The self esteem came back after a couple years. @ greg, I'll answer all of your questions tonight when I have more time. That's cool your child was a life-changer, so to speak. My latest question to you is: Do you think the fact you committed crimes (tell us what they are if u can) means that you have inner evil in yourself that will come out again in the future? Or have you truly seen the light and the rest of your life you are a kind, law-abiding citizen? Are you destined to relapse or are you fine? Forgive me for my bluntness. I just wonder if you fear there is evil in you for some reason and that evil will always try to take over your body? I personally think God can help you with that, but those are my beliefs, may not be yours. I thank you for answering all my questions.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) I'll be watching FOX news on election night for s***s and giggles. If Republicans think last night's debate was a game changer, they'll be disappointed. Yeah the msbnc crew was horrified at Obama's performance and still was ripping on Romney, trying to "say the things Obama should have said." That Chris Matthews guy really hates the Republican party, wow.

If somebody else is willing to give AJP 18 million for 2 years, why can't it be the Sox? The team that signs him will also be well aware of his weaknesses (arm and his slumps; he can be the king of the pop up and routine grounder). Why not offer him 16-18 mill for 2 years? I mean, AJ has a horrible arm now. Why would any team offer him 12-15 million a year?? Is that actually going to happen? I'd say 18 mill for 2 years; ask him for a hometown discount of 16 mill or 17 mill for 2 years.

QUOTE (Jbabs34 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 04:15 PM) He sounds like a guy that doesn't want to put up with Hawk's BS anymore I would agree after listening to it. Odd thing is a few years ago, remember when Stone subbed? Hawk was great with him and everybody was clamoring for a Hawk/Stone broadcast team. Then this year, Hawk was great, just great when Wimpy was around. They probably should do what the Royals do and flip/flop these guys between TV and radio. Hawk probably should have several different partners. Sounds like he gets "grumpy" when around one too often. Stone used the word grumpy which says a lot right there. Even Harry used to do TV and radio both when he was with the Sox. Hawk could use more than one partner.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) Lol, Greg I enjoy your posts. Thanks. I hope tuna answers all my questions again.

Tuna, thanks for your answers. Other questions: Is it a myth that the Cell is a bad neighborhood or do gangs hang on on the periphery of the park to rob people? What about the United Center? If you are white and walk around that neighborhood are you cooked? If you are in a gang do you have to beat people and rob people to prove you are not a p****? Let's say a 12-year-old saw the gang and yelled cuss words at you all. Would you beat him or is 12 too young and you guys would just laugh? Have you ever witnessed a murder or severe beating? Let's say you were still in a gang and I was walking down the wrong street and you guys were going to beat/rob me. Let's say I knew you personally and before I got beat I said, 'Hey Tuna, stand up for me.' Would the gang then leave me alone? Finally, in your new life, do people get scared when they see your tattoo or you tell your neighbors you served time in the slammer? Do you cause fear in them or do they give you a chance? also ... Why did you go to jail? What is life like in jail? Were you ever beaten? Did anybody ever try to rape you? Is jail boring? Do you have TV in jail? Was it the greatest moment of your life when you got out of jail? Do employers hold your jail experience against you in trying to get a job? What is your profession? Thanks tuna. This stuff is so interesting.

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 06:26 AM) maybe hes tired of telling Iran to stop building nukes and telling Israel to not pre-emptively strike Iran and dealing with the United Nations and he wants to just go back to chillaxing and filling out march madness brackets. I'm wondering if this gets close, what the media is going to do to make sure Obama wins. Are they gonna step up attacks on Romney's religion or ? The media hasn't had to attack too much yet, but after this debate beatdown do u all expect the media to go after Romney hard?
-
How the hell did Romney do it? How did he win the first debate? Even the liberal media people admitted Romney did well. A couple of them like Chris Matthews still supported Obama (how can this guy have a job, fair and balanced??) while admitting he failed big time in the debate. Matthews said something like "Obama should have mentioned this, this this about Romney and how ridiculous that is, blah blah." It's hilarious how Matthews in his post-debate coverage kept trying to blast Romney, while admitting Romney kicked Obama's butt. Matthews was furious at his idol, Obama. So how did Obama fail so badly? He's normally very charming, etc. He looked tired and frankly kind of burned out. So WTF? I personally think he's tired of defending himself which is stupid considering the media is in love with him and his rare press conferences are all lovefests. So WHAT HAPPENED? And does Romney now win?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 04:42 PM) I have to admit, this one has been a huge surprise to me. I honestly didn't even bat an eye when he went over to the Houston org, I didn't think he was a major league pitcher. He just didn't look like he had the stuff. Obviously I was way wrong on him. Kenny should be fired just for all the pitchers he's lost while the Sox GM. Gio baby!
-
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 04:29 AM) Have you never listened to them? It's been obvious for a long, long time that Stone has no respect for Hawk. Stone's not stupid. He knows Hawk's nothing but a muppet. You can just tell he's biting his lip every time Hawk says something ridiculous. Compound that with Hawk being flat out rude and it's easy to see why Stone's leaving. It's a shame. Stone's good and Hawk's a sham. I'd love for the Sox to do something like ESPN and HBO are doing with boxing. They have 1 pro pbp guy, 1 throwback old school pro and 1 young, new age kind of guy. I'd love to have a traditionalist accompanied by a SABR guy. It'd make for great conversation throughout the game. All of us would learn about baseball philosophy and probably come to respect the different factions of it. Is it really that bad and that obvious? I watch quite a few games and never thought it was as bad as you detail. Not saying you are wrong.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 03:34 AM) Good, Romney wins first debate. Even NBC has reluctantly conceded that point. I couldn't watch it cause of prior commitment. Why do you say Romney won? I guarantee you Wolf Blitzer won't say Romney won. And no way that guy that they spoof on Saturday Night Live with the unkept white hair on CNN will say it. I forget his name. I can't imagine any of the big named liberal announcers saying Obama lost. That's impossible. QUOTE (Nyx81 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 03:46 AM) He looked terrible. How so?
-
I've been thinking more about this. I wonder if they had some sort of incident at some point? Some of you guys said one game they didn't speak the first two innings. You have to wonder if Hawk treated Stone lousy and Stone called him on it at some point.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 04:06 AM) Konerko hit 3 few years ago. Thanks for the info. Wow. I never realized Paulie popped three in one game.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 03:35 AM) 73-53 That makes me cry.
-
Johnson's three home run adds insult to injury on the season. I mean before tonight when's the last time a Sox slugged 3 in a game? My guess would be Albert Belle. Dick Allen? Or ? Obviously that's the kind of production we could have used during 'The Great Collapse'
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 03:31 AM) Tribune is saying he is expected to receive interest from multiple media outlets, but would need permission to bolt. He gone. Man. This sounds like a deal where Stoney just couldn't stand going to baseball games working with Hawk. He was silent quite a bit. Hawk must be really rude to his color announcers. You can't be rude to Stoney. He's pretty accomplished. So was Wimpy, but Stoney has a reputation as a good announcer and current baseball mind. Did Hawk even sign off on the season saying he enjoyed working with Stoney, etc? That's an insult if they didn't do the mutual lauding of each other crap.
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 02:12 AM) No. Maybe it's time to dump them all. I'd go for Hawk and Wimpy No. 1. If that fails, yes, Hawk and Ozzie. Why not?
-
QUOTE (daggins @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 01:02 AM) Jeez stop with the Guthrie talk, the guy is hot garbage. I'd love to get Haren on a bounce back contract but so would 29 other teams so theres that. I am worried the Sox might sign him. I realize Guthrie is a joke. He looked like Chen vs. the Sox though. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 02:02 AM) How long ago was he a starter? Could he be another guy that runs out of gas after throwing so many innings? How the hell could Kenny even consider paying Myers that kind of money? Keep Peavy if you are going to pay Myers 10 mill. My gosh.
-
I hate to be one of those guys but I predited the exact 4 series correctly. Yes we won 2 of 3 in Cleveland when it didn't matter a bit. I hope next season the Sox are less predictable. I mean why the heck can't we beat the heck out of Cleveland in the Cell when it mattered? Floyd goes 7 strong innings tonight? WTF??? This team was maddening.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 11:59 PM) 1) My first move this offseason would be to sell high on Rios. You can hopefully get a quality starting pitcher in return and/or some prospects. 2) Say goodbye to Liriano, Myers, Peavy and Hudson. 3) Shock the baseball climate and sign Grienke and Hamilton. 4) Re-sign AJ and Youk to two year deals and take Floyd's 9.5 million option. (he is overdue for a good year) Our payroll will likely go up to 115-120 million with these moves, but Reiny isn't getting any younger. 2013 Starting Lineup: De Aza CF Youkilis 3B Hamilton LF Dunn DH Konerko 1B Pierzynski C Viciedo RF Ramirez SS Beckham 2B 2013 Rotation 1. Grienke R 2. Sale L 3. Danks L 4. Floyd R 5. Quintana L Obviously this is my dream scenario.... who knows what KW and Hahn have in mind. Shouldn't we stop with the Greinke scenarios since he hates Chicago and that's not an option? I'd rather hear about righties we have a shot at. I would think Guthrie would come in a heartbeat, but I'm praying we stay away from ALL ROYALS not named Gordon, Hosmer, Moustakas, Sal Perez.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) Why not have some major concerts there like they do at Wrigley? You start getting people to the park who would never go for any other reason and they start noticing what a nice place it is and wouldn't scoff at going to a ballgame in the future. Great idea. Sox should do this and have the Blackhawks play their once every winter. Why not? Make it happen. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 12:07 AM) The neighborhood it slowly getting better, but there's just way way too many "unsavory" people to completely revamp it. And even if it did turn around, the stigma will be there for a long long time. I lived 4 blocks from the park for about a year and it was perfectly fine, but west of Halsted and east of the highway = no bueno. Comparing attendance figures for the Cubs/Sox always cracks me up as that's what most sad Cubs fans resort to. My typical reply as that literally ANY baseball team in the league could have been swapped with the Cubbies and the results would have been the same. Cubs attendance is 100% neighborhood. Serious question: Do people of Bridgeport secretly fear the people from East of the stadium will come to their neighborhood and loot and pillage, etc? Just wondering.

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 01:39 AM) I'd keep Floyd for next year. He's infuriating sometimes, but you know what you're getting at the end of the year. Sale FA Righty Danks Floyd Santiago Quintana goes in a package trade for a bat. Is Danks supposed to be available on opening day? Are any of you guys upset that Gio once wore a Sox uniform? He's one of the best pitchers in baseball, no?
