  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 07:15 PM) STOP! The young pitching was fine with the Sox this year. Please get over your obsession with a pretty average pitcher now that is making way too much money. You and I disagree about Mark's "coaching ability" as well as pitching ability. That's fine.
  2. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) Paulies a professional hitter, he's gonna come back and be much better than he has been the final 2 months of the season...he'll be the starting 1B next year no questions asked... I think right after the season ends we'll hear about surgery and everybody will be feeling positive about Paulie as the offseason continues to be a feel good "White Sox did much better than anybody expected" love fest. That is, the rare occasions when people are talking about the sox, with the Cubs rebuilding and the Bears/Bulls doing their thing.
  3. Our pitchers throw some nasty pitches, but they also give up some majestic bombs. They've all turned into Liriano, four-five innings is maximum output. How come you guys all get mad when I suggest the solution?? It's Mark Buehrle. The man is a pitching machine and genius who coulda helped our staff get over this mental midgetness!!! Our starters have good stuff; they are unable to sustain it at all. Their lines add up to five innings of rottenness. Yet I'm the only one that appears to think Buehrle is the answer.
  4. This has been a slow, painful death. That ball was tattooed.
  5. This color man is doing a nice job; he has our team pretty much figured out. He just said it all about our team's fade.
  6. Marty, if you have inside sources, what is their feeling about Buehrle? Do they want him back? Do you or they agree with me that losing him was like losing a coach? He would have done wonders with our young pitchers IMO. If Miami is rebuilding why the hell would they want to keep Mark? We really need him IMO.
  7. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 06:44 PM) Hope the royals are grumpy, clev just an 11 spot on them Did KC lose yesterday too? It's pretty hard to lose 4 in a row to the Tribe. Wow. I like Robin a lot, but losing as many times as we did to KC I think is a fireable offense (when the owner is Loria/Steinbrenner/Al Davis). Losing to KC was a sign of the true mental makeup of this team, but Baron won't agree with me and think I'm harsh. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 06:47 PM) Unlike some on here Im pretty excited for this offseason. Why? "Wait til next year" is kind of a depressing rally cry for me, until the second bout of freezing rain/blizzard conditions when I truly truly miss spring training. Right now it's just anger.
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 06:54 PM) The Sox offensive core will be a year older, that's not a good thing. If Konerko comes back, they still have to replace Pierzynski and Youkillis, not to mention Peavy on the pitching side just to get back to an 80ish win team. The problem is once again we won't be in the wild card hunt. It's not going to be a team capable of sticking with the big boys record wise through the course of a season. So that means win the division. The Sox unfortunately can't seem to win enough head to head divisional matchups to get that done. If it's not the Royals next year, it'll be the Indians. The Tigers simply have a much much better team and I would think will win 12 or more vs. us again. The key I guess is to avoid having a season where we are out of it early like the Royals and Cubs. That would mean the Cell would be as dead as it has been pretty much all season, not just the months of Sept. and April.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 06:38 AM) Greg, you keep mentioning late season melt downs. Those were consistent with Ozzie every single year, including 05. Yes, the Sox have been a bizarre finisher for a while now. Thank God we won it all at least one year. It looks like it's going to be a long time before we sniff another pennant with this mixture of players. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) Believe what you want to believe. I'm not going to lose sleep over it. You guys that never go to the park crack me up. As I've said earlier, I've spent an obscene amount of money on the Sox over the years. That's ok, I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford it. Anyway, when you are at the park as often as I have been, you get to know people. Marty what do you do for a living? You've got a lot of cash, spread it around and give us some. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) So tell me how a pitching coach works around a team that is half rookies, partially injured, and the rest are at half decade and/or career highs for IP? I'm just trying to point out Coop is not worthy of all the praise he gets from soxdom. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) If reinsdorf brings guillen back he's the biggest dufus ever, I wouldn't spend a dime on the team if that happens, he quit he turned his back on the team. That's enough right there to everybody turn there back on him. Ozzie's act got old real quick... Ozzie's not coming back anytime soon. Robin says he wants to be back in the blog. That means he enjoys managing. He better hope the team doesn't continue dropping series after series through June next year or it'll be a whole different kind of season. We'll be out of it early. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) I may be the only one here and I'll get serious backlash here from the stat lovers but I for one don't want AJ back I think he's gone; we lost Mark last year; AJ to follow this year. I'd make him a decent offer and keep him. You can do a lot worse than AJP at catcher. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 05:44 PM) Marty, you seem like a guy who understands internet forums pretty well. There's this thing about "credibility" that members of an Internet forum generate. Perhaps this point is lost on you. See, when certain people post on this forum, I read their content with great interest. What do you think your "credibility" on this forum is? From my point of view you have absolutely none, based on everything I have ever seen you post here. You, sir, are a vulture. The worst kind. You have waited all season to swoop in with the worst kind of hearsay possible. Your first thread, 8th in AL, slams the general manager baselessly, and when called out on your stupid s***, you feign ignorance and throw your hands in the air. Do you even realize what kind of jackass hypocrite that particular thread made you look like to 90% of Soxtalk? Probably not - or we wouldn't have gotten your Legacy thread. Your masterwork, if you will. See, here is the kind of thread I will heartily enjoy bumping for approximately the next 5 years. It completely sums up everything you need to know about Marty. It's filled with ridiculous nonsense only a gullible child could ever believe, and is so outrageously self servingly bitter. During a week when many Sox fans have had their hearts broken by this team, you just can't wait to pile on. You just cant help yourself. I think that speaks volumes of your intentions here. Congratulations on being a complete dick. Wild post by Hibbard, pretty interesting and passion filled. You are right that the Sox broke our hearts. It has been pretty heartbreaking, this utter choke job.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 06:30 PM) That just confirms you have no idea what your talking about He has the right to say they all are ready for this horrible end of the season to be over. These guys are ready to be patted on the back for "doing better than anyone expected." This is one of the most pathetic displays in White Sox history.
  11. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 06:30 PM) Lol Who do you like in our bullpen besides Reed and sometimes Nate. Thornton, Crain, Myers are horrific. Santiago (and starter Q) have so much still to prove. Omigrosso and those guys are not special I hate to break it to you, Tito. Are you confident any of these bullpen guys can give you a full inning?
  12. History will tell us Youk provided a plethora of great moments right after we got him. Ditto Wise. Then they both turned into a big pile of blah.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 05:55 PM) Last day AJ is in the Sox home clubhouse. He's not the only one playing his last game as a Sox in the Cell. Sox have a lot of work to do to rebuild this mess of a team.
  14. The Sox have turned into such a bad baseball team that they are convincing fans with their play that a total rebuild would be OK. Q isn't fooling anybody anymore. We have no pitchers besides Sale who can go five innings reliably. Our bullpen is full of unreliale pitchers except for Reed. We lose series after series. The Sox truly are now one of the worst teams in baseball. Can't win a series at home or on the road. Good luck selling season tickets for next year for a truly pathetic baseball team.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 06:51 AM) No chance. Then we have to get rid of Cooper too. Makes no sense, Ozzie may comeback as a special assistant or something, but that's it. Buehrle coming back would be more probable. Cooper may be a genius, but he sure was helpless as the rest during the pitchers' collapse. Our bullpen sucked and our starters sucked. Pathetic.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 05:20 AM) Don't feel he'd particularly enjoy that, either. Best to return to a front office role and/or assisting Buddy Bell...or just going back to be with his family. You think there's a chance he could quit? I'd be all for letting somebody else try to avoid the collapse next September.
  17. Does Robin want to come back, that is the question? Robin seems too calm to be a manager. I think we should switch every year. Next season's manager: Big Hurt, Frank Thomas. Then the following year: Harold Baines. Year after that: Steve Stone. And year after that: Ozzie Guillen. Why not? Sox should switch every year. Robin did a good job but didn't quite have the magic touch to avoid the late-season meltdown. Let's give Big Hurt the next shot.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 12:21 AM) Take this FWIW, sometimes my guy on 35th street is right, sometimes he isn't. - Don't expect KW to stay long as President, there just isn't enough for him to do. Basically it's a "job well done" spot for him until a desirable GM job opens (Dodgers?) my guy is a pro KW guy by the way. - When I asked if Ventura likes being a manager he said that he likes the teaching aspect of the job. - Hahn thinks "very highly" of Guillen. When Hahn thinks they have a team ready to win Guillen would be at the top of his list for managers. They think Guillen is burnt out and would benfit from a year away from the game. My guy laid out a scenario where in a year or two Ventura replaces Buddy Bell as director of minor leagues and Guillen returns as manager. Guillen (obviously) won't return while KW is still with the organization. While my guy did not say Hahn is anti-Ventura, he did say he was tight with Guillen.. All this kinda surprised me because wasn't there a dust up between Hahn and Guillen on twitter? Wow. I never thought Oz would be back. This gives me hope. But what about this twitter war between Oz and Hahn? I don't remember that one.
  19. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 07:04 PM) I know I lurked here for a year before signing up, and after that it still took time before I decided I had anything to say. I'm guessing a lot of the lurkers just don't think they have anything to add to the conversation and come because they enjoy reading people whose thoughts are like theirs'. I mean for me living outside of the Chicagoland area, this is my go to place for all Sox news and discussion instead of checking out national sites and what not that barely ever cover the Sox. I'd think people would want to say stuff in response to loudmouths like me. I don't know much but I like to spout my opinions and vent my frustrations. For the life of me, I can't figure out how the Sox just completely went in the tank. It's a completely different team than the first half.
  20. I wonder why Dweezy is good for a long stretch then so bad. Must be the nature of baseball when you have average skills.
  21. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 10:24 PM) The sooner this season ends, the better. I dont even wnat to see this team in the playoffs, it would just be embarrassing. There's the chance we might have gotten shut out every playoff game which you are right, would be embarrassing. But as we all know, the season has four games left. So rest easy.
  22. Kenny and Jerry have been really quiet of late. Ditto Robin. Without Oz here, not much noise from upstairs. Wonder what KW thinks of this choke-job. It's the same s*** every single game. KW has to be f***ing furious. If he wasn't, wouldn't he have sought out the media to blame injuries?
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 10:14 PM) Wise is such an automatic out now. He's a great sub, nothing else. Pods would have been just as strong an acquisition. Nice to see the Sox battle today. What a pathetic effort again. Poor fans who paid to see this shadow-ridden snoozefest. Have fun golfing later next week, White Sox. Hope you enjoy your participation trophy from this year.
  24. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 10:59 PM) this organization is in trouble, if you thought this years attendance was bad, wait til next year when they can't break .500 and Detroit gets another big bat (VMart) in that lineup ohhhh boy lol I would assume season ticket sales will be 4000 less than this year or so cause of the lousy economy. Sox may need to make a splash and add somebody, anybody who might sell tickets. I'd bring back Buehrle for ticket reasons, get Miami to pay some of the contract and try to add a power starter as well. And if you can trade Rios, do so and try to add a bat.
  25. Those are valuable dollars you would think to an organization that had crappy year attendance wise.
