Good to see the team playing well at home and on the road both. Good to see the team win 2-1 after all that offense vs. Cleveland. Too bad the Royals pitching is so s***ty they can't knock off the reeling Tribe. 7-5 Cleveland in 7th.

QUOTE (forrestg @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:58 PM) O hudson is on the all star ballot in the nl. I voted for him. i doubt if he wins but what would the rule be as far as being the #1 vote getter for second base in the nl but currently playing in the al. Would they allow him to play for the nl? No.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) Kosuke Fukudome. I could see him playing a little bit and resting DeAza a bit. But the team is so hot, no need to switch. As a former player, Ventura I'm sure knows what guys can handle physically.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 28, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) Yeah, I agree...you don't sit anyone in the midst of this run, as far as I am concerned. Secondly, we're a very young team at the positions that actually require a lot of running and athleticism...you don't want to sit Rios/Beckham/Alexei/Tank right now...I guess I could have seen sitting De Aza today against Moore and giving Lilibridge the start, but other than that, roll with it baby. I keep forgetting. Do the Sox only have 4 outfielders? Lilly is the only sub?

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 28, 2012 -> 03:35 AM) First time we scored 9+ runs in four consecutive games since 1938. What a stat! That is insane.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 28, 2012 -> 01:44 AM) I don't know that Manto deserves any credit or any blame, ever. He's an advisor. These players are pros. They make the changes necessary, and adapt, or their careers end. Great post. You should post more often IMO. Actually the last 5-6 posts on this thread have met my approval (kidding). They've been excellent.

Do they ever open their dome? That will suck playing dome games. How can ANY fans go watch baseball in a dome? I'd never do so. Horrible.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2012 -> 12:33 AM) Paul Konerko was here and just as professional of a hitter last year. The only things that changed are a new hitting coach and a new manager. People that are giving Manto credit should be ready to support him when the bats go dead. Royals fans who sang Seitzer's praises last year now want him fired TODAY. It's one or the other. you are either good or not good.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2012 -> 12:25 AM) So basically you have nothing to add, besides perhaps mocking me indirectly (or directly if you want to credit most with a modicum of intelligence)? Where did I suggest doing anything? I pointed out the reasons they PROBABLY won't do anything, and you're not going to get as much for Floyd now anyways until when he goes on one of his patented hot streaks. What players did I suggest trading besides POSSIBLY Thornton, Floyd and Crain? Last time, I checked, I was wholeheartedly against the idea of trading Viciedo. You can search/check the entire history of this board from November of 2008 and you'll never see me saying such a thing. And improving the worst bench in the major leagues is a bad thing? Not worth discussion or thinking about? There's nothing interesting at all about the team being in the position they are now when 2 weeks ago NEARLY EVERY SINGLE THREAD talked about this team in terms of the future and rebuilding? Isn't trading those three players and clearing their contracts for younger prospects to come exactly the kind of move a rebuilding team SHOULD make? At a certain point, you don't think KW's starting to believe this team, as CURRENTLY CONSTRUCTED with a few additions, could actually WIN NOW? Wasn't the whole theme of the entire offseason constructing a team for 2013, 2014 and beyond? Doesn't the attendance certain reflect that belief in the fanbase? You truly believe what the Cubs are doing (positively and negatively) has absolutely no effect on the White Sox? What about KW's quotes once upon a time about making this a "White Sox town?" Just bold talk? The Cubs are going to finish with the worst or second worst record in the major leagues, and nobody's viewing this now (2012) as a golden opportunity? You really believe the White Sox are so cash poor they have no money to make an acquisition? If the cost/benefit of trading Gavin Floyd for a prospect and opening up that spot in the rotation for one of our young starters is such a clear decision, I bet you'd have nearly universal approval for it. But I would imagine if it was put to a poll, no more than 50% of the board would be for this move (despite three pretty much disastrous starts in a row), because they know what pieces in our minor league system we'd use to replace him, let's say Dylan Axelrod. That's not an issue worthy of debate and consideration? Good post. The bottom line is some people are always wanting to trade anybody having a good year for prospects. It's human nature that the players on the team you love aren't as sexy as prospects or guys on other teams. The truth of the matter is the White Sox have the type of team that could win and win big now IF SEVERAL oF THE EVERYDAY PLAYERS have career years. Right now that is happening and the bullpen figures to remain improved if Reed and Nate Jones remain great and if Crain excels and Thornton is serviceable. Also if the starting rotation is good. It doesn't have to be great, just good. It's time to enjoy it for now and wait and see. If some team wants Rios or Floyd or Thornton, yes it would be worth exploring trading them, maybe even Beckham, but that's about it right now.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ May 27, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) Sweet sweep. believe that make us 8-4 against them this season. We are better than them and this series proves that. Hope this starts a swoon for the Cleves. Also nice seeing the cuBS lose this 12th in a row. there is only one baseball team around here. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 27, 2012 -> 10:06 PM) I know Manto is getting a lot of praise now but I really feel like these hitters on the Sox are learning from Konerko. 1.) Nice to see the Sox put Cleveland in its place and hold its own vs. Detroit. The second half we'll be playing KC and Minnie a ton; have to do the same against them. 2.) No way of proving it, but you might be right. Just as a lot of pitchers copied Mark's style of working fast and attacking hitters.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 27, 2012 -> 10:37 PM) This thread is the perfect example of bad logic: looking at an outcome, and assuming you know its root causes. What if I say Manto is failing horribly with Alexei? What if I say Greg Walker was a genius with De Aza last year, causing him to be more impressive than he ever was in the minors? It'd be using the same faulty logic as this thread is using. True. Save this thread for when the Sox hitters start going bad. As of today, Manto deserves all the credit he's getting, just as he won't deserve the full blame for when the hitters suck. The best thing right now is a lot of hitters are following Paulie's example and spraying it all over and pulling the ball for home runs when the pitcher comes inside. How do we know they are not merely following Paulie's lead more than Manto's? Regardless Manto deserves credit right now cause all that matters are results.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 27, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) At this point, you don't do s***. You just wait. It is not out of the realm of possibility that we have a somewhat secure lead on the division by July. ...it's also possible that we fall completely out of it. It could also be a tight race. I have to say I'm feeling optimistic since we've started our run before we go play all NL teams -- gives us more credibility. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 27, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) Rios for sure, but Dunn is pretty much back to being a good contract, no need to just dump him. 1.) Sounds reasonable to me 2.) If somebody wanted Rios, which they won't, you dump him. We could get by without him if Tank keeps hitting like he is. As far as Dunn, this is why the Sox signed him in the first place. If this is the real Dunn, there's no reason to deal him. I will say this, it's great to see the White Sox hitters not only pulling the ball for home runs, but most of the hitters had a ton of opposite field hits vs. the Tribe. IF the Sox hitters could be convinced to keep doing that, this team could keep winning. Hopefully the team can keep hitting a ton of home runs as well at the Cell.

It's hard to expect the offense to bring it every day. Woulda been nice for that 3-0 lead to stand up for several innings. Cmon Gavin, you have the talent.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 27, 2012 -> 02:22 AM) Dumbest thread ever Very dumb. I didn't worry because he's so hot, I knew it was a joke. If he was only hitting about .280 I'd have fallen for it probably. -
QUOTE (Cali @ May 27, 2012 -> 01:04 AM) I'm gonna puke if it's the Sunday line-up with a chance to sweep the team ahead of you. That'd just be irresponsible... Don't forget, Flowers homered in Game 3 vs. the Cubs. And I think Lilly played that day. AJ needs rest some days. DeAza needs a day off. Put Lilly in center and Flowers at catcher. The question is does Dunn ever need a day off? Might need to rest him as well. When did Lexi last get a day off?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 26, 2012 -> 11:30 PM) NO. He's a bum hack. Please spare me the criticism. Rios was so bad last year it's laughable. During his Sox career he's been stealing money. I give him props for this year and hope it continues. Nice game today, Mr. Rios.
-
Great offense. Hopefully the success of some of the guys who have been using the whole field will encourage them to keep doing so. Keep the home runs coming, please. I hope we go hard for the sweep. I'd say DeAza will be rested, AJ will be rested. Everybody else should be in there you'd think.

Paulie is like a machine.
-
It seems like AJ is catching a lot more this year than when we had Ozzie and Castro. Is that true? I wonder if AJ said something to Robin, asking him for almost exclusive duty this year.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 26, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) Bad day for Alejandro. I bet he gets rested Sunday for Lilly so we better win today.

Cmon, Alej, you can hit this guy.

Hopefully Jake can go five. Time to suck it up and get by, Jake.

Awesome. Lowe is shook. Make them pay today with the W, White Sox.
