*Official* 2005 Soxfest Thread
Hopefully I'll get some of the pictures we took at the Fest up later this weekend. You can look forward to me and Gage photographed with many of the "fresh nugs" from Chicago, including the Pepsi Girls, the Chicago Bandit girls and other female Sox fans. And of course, pictures of the activities as well.

Anyone else win a chance to buy cubs/sox tickets?
So what exactly should I tell Matt to do to claim the tickets?

Name to watch - minor league invite
If it brings Jennie Finch to the Cell at all, I'm all for it.

My buddy Matt won as well. He is going to call up there and see what they can do because obviously we are not in the area to be able to go to the box office.

Ed Farmer
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) No that title would go to Ken Harrelson hands down. If I had to hear how the White Sox tied the Yankees with 242 home runs again, I was going to kick his ass myself. He just kept repeating himself all weekend. I almost wondered if the dude is getting alzheimers or something. Exactly, he gets the award for most annoying personality of the weekend.

I thought Ed did a nice job in the Pitchers seminar with Garland, Politte and AJ.

*Official* 2005 Soxfest Thread
Just wanted to give a few quick observations: 1. Uribe is NOT overweight. 2. I've managed to keep Gage in line, for the most part. 3. Pierzynski seemed to have a great attitude and a lot of good things to say about joining the organization, as did Podsednik. 4. And most importantly, there have been plenty of "fresh nugs" for all at Soxfest. Posting from the Apple Store on Michigan Ave, so I've gotta go. aboz

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) I have heard a lot about the satellite radio. What is he name of the one that broadcasts MLB and can you pick the Sox or is like a game or so a day only? XM Radio will broadcast every MLB game this year. The subscription is 9.99 per month and many units are available at local electronic retailers which allow you to pick up the feed. http://www.xmradio.com/mlb/index.jsp

Hot Stove baseball talk from 7-10 PM on ESPN 1000
QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) This is not the job as the baseball insider. As boz has said we can do that. We need inside info not bulls*** feelings. We have been saying stuff might happen at the fest for weeks. A credible reporter does not report using anonymous sources. In fact, many major newspapers around the country, including the one I work for, won't let you publish anything that is derived from an anonymous source. To me, it's simply irresponsible reporting which tries to create a buzz. Far too often, it ends up to be inaccurate.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Well if they get Iguchi and the site blows up, just realize I can't Gage the board when I'm not around a computer Oh don't worry, we'll have a laptop in the room. Free high-speed at the Hyatt. Couldn't get it working last year, hope that's not the case this year.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Going to talk about Iguchi...what could he know? Probably just talked to his Japanese source on his cell phone.

In more important news, he is dating Jessica Simpson's best friend Casey. Major props to you, Mr. Leinert.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) Because I am married and both my kids are sick, therefore I have nothing else to do. Have fun this weekend. I wasn't being rude quick, hope everyone feels better soon. Wish you could join us at the Fest this weekend! Maybe you should lobby for Levine's job.

Hot Stove baseball talk from 7-10 PM on ESPN 1000
QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) Boz of course Everyone knows this, but for pete sake, its a baseball insider show for three hours. In a world of technology, you would think they could check a website. this is just terrible reporting period. Hell we know more about whats going on than they do. Exactly, so why are we even talking about what he says? Who cares. We could sit around here and make up rumors, report them as news and be correct about as often as Levine is, which is hardly ever. That guy will be at the Q&A's, maybe when someone steps to the mic, they should point towards him standing at the wall and say, "hey you, yea, you Levine, I have a question: when are you going to report a rumor that actually becomes reality?"
-
Hot Stove baseball talk from 7-10 PM on ESPN 1000
Levine has no credibility. Everyone around here knows it. I don't even know why anything he says is even reported or posted here anymore. It's all either recycled news or wrong.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) There have been times when I found a great picture and thought to myself how great an avatar it would make. Every time, I realize I could never dump Alizee. And for that, I thank you.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) I think Beastly mentioned it on the postgame show once. That was unauthorized. Just kidding, Beastly.

Brooks Boyer Plugs SoxTalk
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) Is this the first time soxtalk has ever been mentioned? By someone from the Sox organization publicly, this is the first I know of.

Brooks Boyer Plugs SoxTalk
This is BIG. Brooks was a nice guy when I met him, it's even better that he is going out of his way to connect with the fans and great sites like this very one.

Chi Bulls
Talk about screwing up a good thing. Probably the worst thing for a young, up and coming team is signing a veteran who is far past his prime (also accused of manslaughter) and could become a major distraction. No f***ing way.
