  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 2, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) I wonder what really happened. Were the sponsors threatening to pull out? Did FIFA officials find out that Blatter is going to get charged in the future? Was it Blatter's plan all along to resign after he won the election so that Ali wouldn't win it? User Actions Following Doug McIntyre ‏@DougMacESPN Via @ABC, FBI sources on investigation into FIFA scandal: FBI Sources: "Now that people are going to want to save themselves, there's probably a race to see who will flip (on Blatter) first. We may not be able to collapse the whole organization but maybe you don't need to"
  2. US advancing to the knockout stages of the U-20 WC. Zelalem, Rubin, Carter-Vickers and Hyndman all look legit. Some other good performances so far but those 4 really stand out
  3. See to me, this confirmed that Jon Snow is Azor Ahai. The way they panned to the Night's King after Jon defeated the White Walker seemed very telling to me. Really good episode, phenomenal fight scene for being a television show.
  4. QUOTE (Tex @ May 29, 2015 -> 04:55 PM) We're assuming that people want FIFA to clean up and that the corruption doesn't go further. People do want it.
  5. Prince Shembo charged with animal cruelty. (He killed his girlfriend's dog). Will be interesting to see how the NFL responds to this. Between Atlanta's prvious animal cruelty experience and Shembo's past, will be interesting how they respond as well. Edit: Just saw the details. Disgusting.
  6. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 28, 2015 -> 12:27 AM) I agree, I think they have a real legit chance. I know it's a complete turnaround from when I said at the start of the season that the Cavs had no shot to win this year but adding Mozgov, JR and Shump along with the emergence of TT has really changed this team from what they were earlier in the season when I thought they were soft. They're gonna battle GS and they have no one who can limit LeBron like say, Jimmy Buckets, except for Iguodala if you could time travel back 5 years ago. Their team D is great but what are they gonna do when LeBron ISOs? Let him shoot. He's been very inefficient so far this post-season.
  7. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 27, 2015 -> 10:00 PM) A little surprised no one posted this yet... Season 6 casting descriptions Cliffnotes: -Very likely Euron Greyjoy and Randyll Tarly. -3 family members (mother/brother/sister), article speculates that it's the rest of Sam's family. -An ex-soldier turned priest. Septon Maribald? -3 characters that aren't obviously from the books. One is a traveling actress, one is a young priestess, another is a tall warrior of "mixed ethnicity", possibly suggesting a Dornishman or Dothraki. -3 boys, two age 7-8 and one age 12. The descriptions sound like a potential flashback with Robert, Ned and Brandon. Super pumped about Euron. The actor who plays Balon is in the credits for episode 10 according to IMDB, so we could see his death soon. Also, that "mixed ethnicity" warrior could be Khal Joqo or Khal Mago (whatever one is still alive in the show) that Dany meets with Drogon at the end of aDwD. Don't really care about the Tarlys but it would be cool to see a flashback scene with those boys. Doesn't Bran see a vision of history through a Weirwood tree that is supposedly Brandon at one point too? Also, grain of massive salt needed, but according to IMDB, the actor who portrayed Benjen is credited in one of the upcoming 3 episodes. So speculate away on that if it's true.
  8. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 27, 2015 -> 09:13 PM) Looks like he got arrested again.. 2 times in 3 days.. Can't imagine he ever plays again in the league at this point. Good riddance too.
  9. Ian Darke was on this morning and said that there is support in Europe to break away from FIFA if necessary. That may be the only way to get away from this catastrophe. If UEFA left then CONMEBOL and CONCACAF would surely follow suit, leaving everyone else no choice but to do the same.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 26, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) Atlanta was one of the elite/efficient offenses in the league. Cleveland's D has just swallowed them whole for the most part. Thompson/Shumpert in the starting lineup has improved their defense tremendously. Cleveland played well but Atlanta also played about as poorly as possible. Their shooting was atrocious, I don't know how many wide open looks they missed. Korver was off all playoffs, Teague missed about half of his layups, and they never seemed to look in cohesion all playoffs long.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 27, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) Really enjoyed that jail scene in GOT, for obvious reasons. My wife's eyes were rolling out of her head though. Her: "What's the point of that scene? It added nothing to the story." Me: "Ugh, boobs?" I think the point was for her to arouse Bronn and get his blood flowing. You noticed that once he became interested was when the effects of the poison seemed to flare up. She was then able to use that as her proof he was in trouble and she could save him. He now owes her one. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 27, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) Has anybody watched The Last Ship? I caught about 10 minutes of a random episode, it intrigued me. I watched season 1 and enjoyed it.
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 27, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) Whether it be in 2022 or 2026, guaranteeing the US a WC is probably going to be a necessary step in any deal any of these officials cut. The US has FIFA by the balls right now. Not even necessary. If nothing changes with the 2018/2022 WCs, the 2026 WC can not be in Europe or Asia (including Australia since they are part of the AFC now). That leaves North America, Oceania, South America and Africa. It won't be in Oceania for obvious reasons and Africa is a long shot. South America wants the 2030 WC to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first one. That leaves CONCACAF. Mexico and Canada both want it, but realistically, I can't see it being anything other than the US or some sort of US bid with one location in Canada and/or Mexico in addition.
  13. I agree that if 2022 gets yanked from Qatar, Australia or even China have a good shot if they want it. 2026 is going to be held by CONCACAF most likely. I heard someone on a soccer show this morning say that he believes this will be like a mafia investigation, where these middle men will roll on their bosses. We'll see, but man I'd love to see Sepp and his cronies get theirs.
  14. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 26, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) I seriously think it's intentional. For what purpose?
  15. The lack of ability to score runs is what's killing the Sox
  16. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ May 21, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) They are supposed to start at minimum wage and eventually work up to better jobs. There are tons of people in retail making decent money in management positions with only a HS diploma simply because they worked hard and got promoted. Our factory workers start around $16 an hour and get paid time and half for OT with double pay for weekends. Most of these jobs are filled by people with nothing more than a HS diploma. Some of these jobs can be physically tough, mundane or even dangerous. They deserve to be paid more than the high school students working down the road at Taco Bell.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 21, 2015 -> 01:17 PM) I seriously hate this line of thought. Yes, people who have jobs should be able to afford cell phones. Yes they should be able to afford a television. And it's not the Tv/Internet that gets people in trouble these days any more, its health care costs and college costs if they have families. A century ago you could have said the same thing about people who worked in factories. We decided as a society that those were instead going to be decent jobs, jobs that people could actually afford to live off of. People could say the exact same junk about lazy people on assembly lines turning bolts and how they don't work hard enough to deserve a decent life. At least for a while we decided to be better than that. Not all jobs are the same. Someone who works at McDonald's shouldn't just automatically be able to afford the same stuff that a doctor or lawyer can. Me, as a mid-level 30 year old analyst, should not be able to afford the same things that my fortune 500 CEO can.
  18. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ May 20, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/...he-sand-snakes/ I largely agree with the thoughts in this Grantland post re: the Sansa rape scene, but to sum up: 1) The producer referred to the rape scene as "a hardened woman making a choice." That is not the scene that was depicted. Sansa did not choose to be raped, she had no say in the matter. 2) Putting Sansa in that position was a narrative shortcut that makes no sense from Littlefinger's standpoint. It makes no sense that Littlefinger hasn't heard of Ramsay who has flaying people all over the North, but that's the producer's explanation for why Sansa was left unprotected. Like the post says, some of the depictions of rape on the show have been tone deaf. Taking Jamie Lannister - a character on a redemptive arc - and having him rape Cersei in the Sept was such a terrible decision for a character on a redemptive arc. Likewise, with Sansa, if the intention is to show Sansa as "a hardened woman making a choice," that's not the scene that they showed. 1) Rape may not have explicitly been on the table, but Sansa has grown much and is smarter than she was when the show started, there is no way she could have thought she'd marry Ramsay and their marriage would not be consummated like it was with Tyrion. I think that's where the idea of her making a choice for a longer play comes in. And again on the Jamie Lannister point, the producers have come out and said that was not their intent. They screwed up the scene, but they were not intending him to rape Cersei in that moment. I also have to agree with everyone about the Dorne stuff this season. It's just been terribly done and superfluous to everything else in the show at this point. Why did they even cast the sand snakes if this is how they were going to be portrayed? Unless the remaining 4 episodes do a significant turnaround, they would have been much better off adding the Ironborn instead of the Dornish. Doubt it would have been worse. PS. Has it been mentioned yet that Bronn was cut with a dagger? They seemed to zoom in on that occurring, and this being Dorne, I hope that doesn't mean his end is near
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 20, 2015 -> 12:50 PM) the outcry was much lower when Jamie basically raped Cersei next to their dead son, i thought that was much worse than Sansa. That was filmed and edited poorly. It was not meant to be depicted as a rape, but that's how it turned out. QUOTE (bmags @ May 20, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) You may not remember the outcry at the absurd amount of time given to the torture scenes in season 3, but I do. It was necessary to hammer home how broken Theon becomes, and even then they could have done much, much worse.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 20, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) It would just be silly for teams to take a knee instead of even attempting it. That's why I think they should just get rid of the kick, make a TD 7 unless you want to go for 2. Up by 1 no one kicks it now anyways. They go for two to make it a FG game.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 20, 2015 -> 08:46 AM) Doesn't that happen about as often as a missed extra point? I think they should do away with the kicks. Just give 7 for a TD unless you want to go for 2, then it's 6. Saves some time. That's why I prefaced it saying it was a small deal. It's just something I've never understood them not having, so I'm glad it's changed
  22. Small, but I'm glad the defense can finally be rewarded by taking a 2 point attempt back for a TD like they do in college.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) I'll let you guys decide who to believe. SportsCenter@SportsCenter John Calipari has made it known to Pelicans officials that he's interested in the team's head-coaching job. (via http://NOLA.com ) John Calipari ‏@UKCoachCalipari 1h1 hour ago Even though Anthony and Tyreke are in NOLA, I have no interest in the Pelicans or any other job. I have a great job and I'm happy at UK. I'll never believe Cal about anything, I guarantee he'd leave if the $$$ was there (Or if UK had unknown looming sanctions)
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 19, 2015 -> 01:28 PM) Everett Golson to Florida State Never been a huge fan, but he's definitely better than what FSU currently has. Very talented but young group of WRs there so we'll see how they gel in just one year.
