Multiple Victims in Charleston SC Church Shooting

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:08 AM) This is an awesome idea. We just need to get everyone that may potentially kill someone with a gun at some point in the future to register for a list so we make sure nobody ever sells them a gun. Or maybe we should just leave it up to the gun sellers to ask the question "Are you going to kill someone with this gun if I sell it to you?" Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?    We should make people sign a contract saying they will not do anything illegal with their purchase too. -
6/19 - White Sox vs Rangers

Even with Chris Sale pitching tonight, I can't believe this abomination of an offense is sitting at -190 in the betting markets. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 08:36 AM) This post could've been from basically any year between 2007 and 2015. Maybe the last couple, but they were competitive in a few of the other years into September at least. I can't recall hoping for draft pick position in June before.
-
I agree. Season's over. Try and get whatever you can for some of these guys. I can't believe it's mid-June and I have completely checked out of the season already. It's just been so hard for me to care about this currently constructed team. They have been incredibly frustrating to watch and follow this year.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) Assuming the reports are correct that he's a white extremist, these deaths mean that 41 murders have been committed by white supremacists since the beginning of the Obama administration. http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/201...since_1995.html That actually seems surprisingly low to me. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) When you were a kid, you never wanted to go to Disneyworld? I remember as a kid I always wanted to do double dare or one of those games and get slimed at Universal (where Nicklodeon did its filming). I actually did get to do like the DoubleDare show at Universal in LA (when our family came to down) and was lucky enough to get picked out of the audience (note...this wasn't a TV show...rather an attraction they had at Universal in LA which was "pretend" version of doubledare and some other attractions. My parents were not happy...I got slimed, which I thought was the coolest thing in the world...however, we had to stay at the park for the rest of the day and all they gave me was a t-shirt and a bucket to try and get the slime off. They weren't fans but I never forgot that experience, haha. Honestly not really. We always took two big vacations a year growing up. One was to the beach (usually Jersey shore) and one was to a historical place, such as Boston, DC, Toronto, Montreal/Quebec City etc..So I've always been more interested in seeing new places and doing new things rather than stationary places. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) I think it comes down to going there and seeing what they do versus going to other theme parks. It's like going from a Ferrari to a Ford. Huge drop down in quality. Disney parks could use more thrill rides but for families it's easily the best. It helps that my wife and I, and now our son, grew up loving Disney/Pixar movies. We went there as kids, so it was part nostalgia. Mickey Mouse is my son's favorite thing ever, so for him, meeting Mickey and freaking out was the best thing that ever happened to him. And it was just as amazing/entertaining for us to watch him as it was for him. I'm not really a theme park person, so that's probably it. I'm cool with going to the Jersey boardwalk once or twice for a couple hours on a vacation and then I've had my fill.
-
I've never been there, and I don't have kids, so this could just be out of complete naivety, but the allure of Disney World/Disney Land I've never really gotten.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) Bet the house. Cavs are going to win tonight and win the Series. LeBron is motivated. LeBron is insanely motivated. Only way GS wins is if the West truly is destined to beat the weaker East every year. Greg, Please start making predictions more often, I'm anxious to hop on the fade train with you.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 10:32 PM) Enquiring minds want to know: With a dozen plus candidates in the Presidential race for the Republican nomination, who would you support today? As of right now, if I had to make a choice, I'd probably go with Rubio, but it's hardly set in stone.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) I admit I don't watch a ton of soccer, but the most I've ever seen is 6. It happens from time to time, especially if there was some sort of pause for crowd problems, but from the account I read, the 8 minutes of added time were bulls***. -

Also, keep an eye on his hair. He's contractually obligated to keep it for Game of Thrones. If he changes it at all and is seen in public, that could actually be bad news. -
Watched the first two episodes of OITNB this weekend. Kinda slow and boring. Hopefully the rest of the season is better.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) I haven't read the books, can someone explain the whole many-faced God storyline to me? I just didn't understand it. So they euthanize people, then take their faces to use as assassins? And then Jaqen killed himself, but he really killed Arya? The whole thing was just confusing to me in the show, maybe it makes more sense in the books. Arya makes her way to Braavos and trains to become a faceless man. As part of her training, she becomes blind and works as a servant. In the books, she has not yet learned to change her face (that we know of). She also never killed Meryn Trant. In a released chapter from Winds of Winter she does kill Raff the Sweetling in a similar scene. Jaqen has not been seen since Harrenhall. The "leader" of the House of Black and White is someone else. It's actually rumored Jaqen is somewhere else, but if you'd like to know that spoiler you can look it up. The scene was set up to show how the faceless men can change their face and they aren't who they used to be, while Arya has not yet learned that. If you'd like more info, go to a wiki of ice and fire and look up the faceless men or the multi faced god. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 09:01 AM) Kit says the show runners told him Jon Snow isn't coming back to the show. That is in direct conflict with what I think happens in the book. I'm assuming they told him to say that. I can not imagine he's really done for. If he was, what would be the reason they'd send Melisandre back to the wall? She wouldn't go there for safety and she clearly looked troubled upon her return, like she knew she made a mistake and misread something. -

So apparently Qatar scored a blatant offsides goal in the 9th minute of 2nd half stoppage time to beat the mighty Maldives 1-0 in the AFC 2nd round of WC Qualifying this afternoon. Jokes write themselves. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) The big problem with Copa always has been and always will be that the invited teams (Mexico) can't force clubs to release players. Don't know Brazil's excuse though. Mexico's manager has basically said he's saving some of his players (GDS, JDS, Chicharito, Vela, Guardado, Ochoa) for the Gold Cup QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 12:02 PM) And even if they don't win, they get a playoff against the winner for the spot by virtue of winning the 2013 Gold Cup. Should be academic though. US has no excuse not to win. Mexico is bringing a very good side to the Gold Cup. Not a given at all. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 12:33 PM) I don't think Brazil's really missing anyone all that important. Their starting 11 is more or less their A team: Jefferson Danilo Miranda Luiz Marcelo Willian Gustavo Elias Robinho Firmino Neymar I'm wondering why they're playing Miranda instead of Silva. With how that game against Germany went, you'd think they would put a more lax defender like Silva back there to back up David Luiz in case he goes too attack happy again. They're not bringing Marcelo, Dante, Oscar, Lucas Moura, Ramires, Paulinho, Bernard, Hulk or Leandro Damiao. They're midfield has a lot of inexperience outside of Willian -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) Morris has been a nice surprise but we've seen US forwards come out looking good in their first few caps and then barely amount to anything. Copa starts tonight. Woohoo Excited for this to start. Most countries are bringing their best squads (Mexico is not, and Brazil left a lot home). I'm taking Colombia to win it. -

US U-20's advance to the quarter finals with a 1-0 win over Colombia. Rubin scored and Steffen saved a PK in the 83rd minute. Supposedly CCV, Miazga and Desevio Payne were all beasts on defense. If Payne (currently starting in the Eredevisie) can become an answer at one of our FB positions down the road that'd be great. We've struggled there ever since Cherundolo retired. They play Serbia at 12:30 on Saturday night/Sunday morning. A trip to the semi-finals is very possible right now. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) This is the analytic guys' wet dream team too. I still say they were overrated, as was the West this season. The East was like 75 games under .500 vs the West this year. How were they over rated? QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 08:28 AM) The OB call on Klay was right but the way the reversals went down seemed off. Ref blows whistle after GS steals the ball, doesn't make a call, gives ball to GS, then they review the play. So if there was no inadvertent whistle, the Cavs never would've gotten the ball back. Am I alone? The refs have been pretty incompetent all series to be honest. They missed the most obvious goal tending ever only to over turn after looking up at the jumbotron, which they aren't allowed to do. Then the replay of a call they aren't allowed to review to begin with. It's also amazed me that both teams have apparently played such good defense that it's never a foul when someone drives in the lane anymore despite being clobbered. This has just been an ugly series. And this is probably going to get criticized, but am I the only one thinking people going a little overboard on Lebron this series? He's been great, yes, but he's shooting like 38% for the series. How many points do you think JR Smith would have if he was taking 40+ shots per game too? He's playing very well, but some people are making it out like he's having the best NBA finals ever. That's just not true.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) Unless they are planning to go after guys like Eddy Martinez out of Cuba to make up for the lack of drafted prospect hitters. I don't really think that has anything to do with not drafting a hitter in your first 3 picks -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 04:44 PM) Thoughts on Prison Break reboot? Excited. I don't care that the series went downhill, I enjoyed every minute of it.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 3, 2015 -> 09:28 PM) They looked really good in that game. I know New Zealand isn't a power or anything, but it was on the road and the US showed off some quality. Zelalem needs some refinement, which is expected at that age, but he's just working with more tools than most players in that age range. His ability on the ball, both dribbling out of trouble and making key passes, is really strong. Needs to cut down on some loose passes and get a bit stronger and he'll be ready for the full national team. Hyndman and Carter-Vickers look like total studs, too. I like Arriola, although I'm not sure what position he profiles at as he gets older. Fun fact about Hyndman, he's still eligible to play for four different national teams. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 12:09 AM) So just for a bit of background here, does everyone who posts in this thread have a favorite English Premier League team they go for (or at least in Europe)? To kick it off, I'm a West Ham supporter (East London team), and have been from about 2000 onwards. They move into the Olympic Stadium in about 15 months from now, and are looking to break into the top 4 eventually (easier said than done). My favorite team is Tottenham, second is AS Roma. I also root for VFB Stuttgart because I lived there for a few years growing up -
QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Jun 3, 2015 -> 06:18 PM) Keenyn Walker now has 7 AA ABs this year and 5 of those ended in whiffs. Let's hear it for toolsy outfielders! Walker appears to have been a mistake drafting, but coming to any conclusions on anyone after a 7 AB sample size is hilarious.
