**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) In the tv series, it seems like they're heading to the battle/confrontation over Winterfell between the Stannis and Bolton/Frey groups...one would think that both sides would be so weakened afterwards that neither would be much of a major player afterwards. Although not sure how it plays out with the real Sansa instead of the fake/imposter in play. And what in the heck are they going to do with Lady Brienne of Tarth? She's either going to play the role of Mance, the hooded stranger or Mors Umber. Or some combination. -

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 19, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) Dragonglass kills the Others. One of the few "good" characters happens to rule an island filled with it. I somehow missed that when reading, but it now makes perfect sense that they had that scene in the show between Sam and Stannis -
Extra Points may change today Personally, I'm all for it. They are currently a non-competitive play. I'd love to see them do something to make the play much more strategic in terms of going for 1 or 2.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2015 -> 01:21 AM) One would think that Jon Snow, Danys and the two Stark sisters are the true remaining protagonists at this point, and Theon/Tyrion/Jamie are all anti-heroes who could become heroes at some point in the not-so-distant future. To turn Danerys into another Mad Queen after so many books and building her "good" side up (ending slavery, attempts to be fair and just throughout the books) would seem to be pretty pointless from a narrative point of view. Why? It fits the narrative perfectly. She's already shown signs of recklessness. GRRM has said the ending is not necessarily happily all around and some people are going to be upset. There's been enough hints about Targaryens that it is both plausible and sensible to have her arc end in such a way. -

Lots of people are up in arms about that scene last night. They clearly don't know how GRRM wrote that scene in the books, which is so much worse. That being said, last night's episode was basically completely made up. Not that it was a bad episode, but they really are off on their own now. I am no longer expecting anything I want to happen from the books to actually happen anymore. -

Sterling Gibbs transferring to UConn and eligible immediately. With him and the Cornell PF transferring in plus Jalen Adams and everyone returning besides Boatright, I think Connecticut becomes a top 15 team again. Possibly top 10 if Brimah can become more of a force on the boards. -

QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ May 15, 2015 -> 01:47 PM) Anyone else looking forward to the Copa America next month? I've been into the sport for a while now (WC '06 piqued my interest, but it was Euro '08 that really dragged me in) but haven't ever actually watched this tournament. For whatever reason I didn't watch in 2011 (I was getting into tennis hardcore that summer, so that may have distracted me...and it looks like it wasn't even on US TV in English anyway). I think I'm going to get beIN just for the month for this, though. On a related note, looks like Fox is going to get the rights to the 2016 event in the US...venues to be announced sometime this month. Midwest cities being considered include Chicago, St. Louis, Cleveland, Detroit, Kansas City, and Indianapolis. I'm looking forward to it since I love international football, but it's not one of the more interesting torunaments for me. I prefer the Euros, Gold Cup and AFCON over it. I'll of course still watch as much as I can and am super excited about next year's Copa America with the US and Mexico involved. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 16, 2015 -> 01:53 AM) Gideon Zelalem is going to play for the USMNT. He made the switch a few days ago. He's got 3 years to develop for Russia 2018. We really need a player of his potential in the midfield. Some say his potential is Pogba-lite. If that's the case, he'll be a huge part of the 2018 WC for the US. I think Cesc Fabregas is a much better hopeful comp. He has great vision and his passing ability is already top class. I don't think he'll score much but he could develop one of those uncanny abilities to control the game from the midfield. -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 15, 2015 -> 08:40 AM) There aren't really any other good horses out there. Problem is that the odds are so short that even the trifecta isn't going to pay that much--probably less than $100 even on the $4 bet. Yeah I just saw the field. I didn't realize it was so small. I guess some trainers pulled their horses out to rest them for the Belmont.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 13, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) My Preakness bets: $12 on American Pharoah each to win and place $4 trifecta box on American Pharoah/Firing Line/Dortmund So you're going out on a limb, then huh?

QUOTE (danman31 @ May 13, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) I love seeing Real Madrid lose. Juve really earned it though. Barca will be heavily favored, but Juve is a tricky opponent. They will try to take advantage of Barca's weakness on set pieces. Not that last year was much better, but I see the final being a boring 1-0 win for Barca. -
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 13, 2015 -> 12:21 PM) I'm thinking of parlaying Mets and Nationals today, what do you guys think? Betting on baseball is the worst. I don't bet that sport anymore

Anyone have any recommendations of hotels in Rome or Paris?

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 11, 2015 -> 12:29 AM) Anyone been to Iceland before? My buddy is lobbying really hard to get me to go with him later this summer. I think it'd be an unbelievable trip however I don't want to leave my 2 year old daughter behind for almost 2 weeks. We are taking a honeymoon through Europe in August and are flying in and stopping over in Reykjavik for 3 days before returning home. We're excited, it will be a very unique place to visit and much different than the rest of our trip. They have a few interesting museums, plus the Blue Lagoon and Golden Circle that we plan on seeing.

So I just found out Forever was cancelled. That was surprising. I really enjoyed that show too. Fun premise, decent writing. Figured it wasn't even in jeopardy, especially with all the other crap that still is on television.

QUOTE (LDF @ May 9, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) this may come out really racial, but to me, this sound and looks like the old european baltic way of doing it. now i see a lot in the jewish was of pronouncing it. a great movie, entebbe with charle bronson. true story the main character is yonni which is short for Yonathan or johning or jonathan. Or, much more simply, it is just spelling to pronunciation, such as Yohan.

Surprised about Golson. Could see him ending up at FSU to be honest. I don't think he ends up in the SEC. They have a clause that does not allow transfers if they have previously been punished at previous schools. Waivers can be granted, but it's not a guarantee. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 5, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) Juventus steal one from RM in Turin. Some Italian soccer people I follow on Twitter were saying Juve put together their best effort of the year. Should have been 3-1 but Llorente missed a sitter. I still think RM moves on, but Juve definitely gave themselves a good shot. -
I guess what I'm wondering is, can he sign a one year deal, no longer be a rookie and then get a big deal in 2016 assuming he proves it? Edit: Just the post above mine now. But does that mean they HAVE to sign that standard contract? What if he waits a year and doesn't play? Or what if he signs a one year deal in the CFL or Europe, can he then sign for whatever he wants? Minnesota just signed that giant Polish lineman to a million dollar deal a few weeks ago.

Is there really a limit as to how much a team can offer an UDFA? Aren't they basically just like any FA or no?

What I will say, is that I did love that they threw in some pre-show lore with the Tourney at Harrenhall and Selmy's story about Rhaegar. Late in the story to finally get there, but I like that they discussed it. They didn't do the story's for a reason. They are trying to bring sympathy to Rhaegar and discussing Lyanna is important for when they make the big parentage reveal. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 2, 2015 -> 02:39 PM) Best Buckeye in the draft still not picked. Crazy. Isn't Bennett kind of small for his position? Like Michael Sam? As a Chiefs fan, I probably hated their draft this year more than any other year. They took a gamble in round 1 (which has super upside potential, but gamble still), reached for a C in 2nd round, took a super raw WR in RD3 who will barely play this year and went for another CB with second 3rd round pick despite still needing help elsewhere. Frustrating to see your team be close to being able to be seriously competitive and they completely f*** up their draft.
