  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 08:54 AM) He talked about Fulmer, Michalczewsi and Alvarez, all unprompted. The Clark bit was because we (FS) asked about him. Josh Norris from BA was there too, commented on some of the same guys. Cooper also commented that Underwood (Cubs Pitcher) looked nasty and the Dash just hit some good pitches. So that's nice to hear.
  2. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) Why bet lines when you can just do money line and clean up. Because it's a matter of paying 10 cents instead of $2-$3+ on the vig?
  3. Iceland has qualified for the 2016 Euros already. From a group featuring Netherlands, Czech Republic and Turkey. That is awesome.
  4. QUOTE (Boogua @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) I had the luxury of betting TCU first half -9. Up 10-3 their kicker, who leads all of fbs in FGs made, misses a 29 yard field goal off the upright with 20 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. I also had UNC +2. Down 4 with 3:30 left, Fedora decided to go for it on fourth and goal from the 6 instead of taking the FG and making it a FG wins it game. Their QB throws his second pick in a goal to go situation in the game. A fantastic night. I had TCU (-8) and ND (-3.5) in a two team teaser. Needless to say, not happy with TCU. Fumble in the red zone, shanked 29 yard FG, INT in the end zone and Minnesota with a last minute TD to bring it to 6. Oh well. TCU major let down.
  5. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 03:33 PM) A utility infielder for a second round pick is not a win. It doesn't matter whether it's high school or college. That said I'm not convinced these guys are just utility infielders. People around here have a tendency to give up after six months of seeing a player play. A young player that is. I have no problem putting those two at second and short for next year. Although it should start right now every day. Saladino was a 7th round pick.
  6. I dislike the Patriots, but this is embarrassing for Goodell and the NFL. And that's wonderful.
  7. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) His stats in Sox losses vs Sox wins screams "the fix is in". I mean if that's all you're using, he hit .286 (6-21) with 3 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 3 R, 2K in the losses. Not exactly terrible. I did a lot of research on this time period for my senior research paper for my history degree in college and gained access to the Hall archives, old newspapers, etc and there's really hardly any evidence suggesting he was in on anything. The same can not be said for the 6 others.
  8. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 03:09 AM) I think Jackson was guilty. But i also think a lifetime ban is just that. Jackson has been gone over 60 years. Let the hall decide his fate. Same as rose. He should not be alive to enter the hall. That's fine, but almost all the evidence points to him most likely not being in on it.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 11:16 PM) Please no. His bat sucks. I'd rather sign a 1 year deal with vet who at least provides a decent bat. Saladino is a utility player. Defensive replacement. Saladino is a rookie with one month of major league experience. He has had success in his career in the minors. Why are people writing him off as if he'll never improve? Whenever young players are on other teams and struggle people are more than willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. But when it comes to here, what players do in their first month equates to their career ceilings? Saladino has had his moments, both good and bad, and maybe utility player is his ceiling (which is fine), but I think it's a bit early to declare that his definitive future.
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 11:59 PM) KW at his finest such a s***ty talent evaluator. This is such a typical statement from you. A 2nd round pick drafted out of high school, a 7th round pick and a 17 year old Venezuelan kid signed for minimal money turned into 3 major league players. That's a win.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 04:11 PM) Greg's best bet of the week: Take Minnesota and the points on Thursday night. So does this mean you should bet the house on TCU? For the record, I really like TCU and ND to cover this week
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) Being 100% honest, I know next to nothing about the case outside of what I saw in 8 Men Out. What are you all using as source materials for what really happened? There's a lot of information out there if you do some quick googling. People have done a lot of research on this using newspaper reports from the time, testimonies, etc...
  13. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 11:37 AM) This. This is exactly why I call him Fools Gold. He has already proven to not be a good baseball player at the major league level, I'm not sure why everyone still thinks he's good or has the potential to be really good. Because he just turned 24 and has only 800 career at bats? It's pretty dumb to write any player like that off so quickly.
  14. Leaving Friday on our honeymoon for 21 days. Flying in to Milan then heading to Rome, followed by Antibes, Paris and Reykjavik. Very excited. I lived in Germany for a few years when I was a kid but haven't been back in 20 years. And this is the first time out of the country (other than Canada) for my wife.
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 09:48 AM) me, i would like anderson shut down. maybe danish or beck. I think Anderson needs as many reps as possible. It's not like he's a pitcher whose arm we are trying to conserve. He was raw coming out of college so getting him extended reps and seeing better pitching can only be a good thing.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) Several ChiSox prospects will be playing in the AFL this fall, who do we want to see? Rosters should be out in about a month and Kanny pitching coach Jose Baustista will be our affiliate's pitching coach I'd personally like to see RHP Montas (ETA:September), RHP Adams (ETA: 2018), Michalczewski (ETA:2017), Hawkins (ETA:2016), Barnum (ETA:2018), May (ETA:2016), and Austin (ETA:2018) Montas likely won't go due to MLB service this year, Adams I'd like to see against other top prospects, Michalczewski I'd like to see develop power, Hawkins I'd like to see have a good AFL and gain back high end prospect form, Barnum I feel is turning things around and can use extra time in Arizona, and Austin is a project-type C but has a great arm and a solid bat when hot I think you're only allowed one player under AA. Austin won't go as he's not even in A+, I'd assume they would rather have Adams shut down and resting and I don't think Barnum is ready. I could see Trey or someone like Ynoa being the under AA guy that goes. Hawkins and May are real possibilities though.
  17. We're going to regret not getting anything for Samardzija
  18. China wins the vote (44-40 over Kazakhstan) for the 2022 Winter Olympics. That's three straight Olympics for East Asia (plus 18/22 World Cups in Asia). Advertisers must love this.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) Triple and homer for Anderson Also seems like Barnum gets a lot of extra base hits these days He's had a great last few weeks. And his K rate has improved a bit this year too. It'd be great if something was starting to click with him.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) You're very right but, it just so happens to be the day before the trade deadline lol. That said, I'm with you, probably just a day off. I get it, but it's been happening for about a week.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) Todd Frazier isn't in the Reds lineup tonight, so I assume he'll be playing for the WSox tomorrow. I know you were kidding, but that SoxNet account mentioned that too for some reason. Just because player so and so isn't in a lineup in late July, way too many people feel a need to make it out to mean something other than most baseball players don't play 162 games a year.
  22. I knew who started this thread before even seeing who it was.
  23. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:00 AM) Just great news. I ran into him at the ATL airport a few weeks ago and chatted him up briefly. He said he had been cleared by his doctors that day as cancer-free and was hopping the 1st flight to Miami to start training for the season. He wasted zero time. That's dedication. I'm assuming yesterday's news was him being cleared by the doctors to resume playing actual football. For a guy with cancer, he did a remarkable job of staying in shape. He may not have been 100% but he wasn't small at all. Reid said he stayed in remarkable shape but that a further statement would be made this afternoon, including a presser from Berry. He's currently not taking part in full contact drills but was working out with the QBs, rookies and injured players this morning during workouts.
  24. Eric Berry has been cleared to resume practicing after completion of treatments for Hodgkin's Lymphoma
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 04:26 PM) After the OKC Bombing, people who bought large quantities of fertilizer had to register with the government. Not an unreasonable precaution, frankly. And people who buy guns (legally) have to register with the government as well. I'd fully support initiatives that made guns harder to obtain, but that's still a long ways from a complete and total ban.
