  1. I'm reading a Steve Berry novel right now, King's Deception. He's an historical fiction writer who I really enjoy.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 11:18 PM) Gave up on True Detective tonight. Maybe the most disappointing show I can remember. I actually thought it was good. I was very disappointed in the show going in to last night but last night finally felt like it was going somewhere.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 10:24 PM) Johansson is so impressive Aron and Zardes have both impressed me a lot more than Jozy. As a team we've been bad, but he's been terrible so far. They need to play better or we're not even making the finals. And also, really Mexico? An uninspired draw versus Guatemala. Oy.
  4. The unfortunate part of this team having been so bad this year is the fact that with this rotation we would be more than capable of winning in October.
  5. I get that some dogs are meant to be outdoors in one sense, but I'm referring to the fact that it seems that dog that was mentioned is chained up outside most of it's life, which I can not see any real reason for
  6. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 02:37 AM) Are German Shepherds usually outside dogs? There are people down the street that have one that seems to always be outside. It has been raining a lot here lately and their yard has mud all over it and so does the dog. I'm not really sure if they really even take care of it or just got the dog to be a "guard" dog. I feel really bad for the dog and it probably isn't getting the proper training a German Shepherd really needs. No dog should be an "outside dog"
  7. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) Bedoya needs to start over Zardes. Zardes is fine right now as a sub in last 20-30 minutes. Apparently Bedoya is still getting into full match shape. He missed the last several weeks at Nantes with a knee bruise. He's 100% but isn't in match condition yet. I'm guessing that is why he did not start...might be hoping to hold him back until the knockout rounds. But yes, Bedoya should be in our starting MF no matter who is available IMO
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 10:09 AM) Yeah, we are officially into back up quarterback syndrome if people are really pining for Leury Garcia to come back. I'd rather have him up over Bonifacio to be honest. Younger and cheaper and better defensively in the IF.
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 11:32 PM) I wouldnt say constantly but didnt look good tonight. 1. Should've gotten smoked tonight. Guess this team still has a big head from their meaningless friendly wins. 2. Klinnsman still showing he has zero clue on a back line. That is the best four? That line was so bad that Chandler wasnt nowhere near being the worst of the bunch. 3. Klinnsman has he favorites(anyone with a German born parent) but if you end up on his s*** list then its lights out for you. 4. This ref sucked even by CONCACAF standards. Honduras was hacking away all match long and he let them get away with it. 5. But its always fun to be dirty/cheap ass Central American teams. Between the flopping and hacking, it's annoying watching these teams. Agree with all of the above. US looked awful for the most part. I really like Zardes and Yedlin, but they are a forward and fullback, respectively, not mid fielders. Chandler is so weird. He's constantly graded as one of the better RBs in the Bundesliga but just looks terrible on the National team. I don't know why Eric Lichaj can't get a call. And Alvarado is not ready for this stage either. Gonzalez should be there. It sounds ridiculous, but I can actually see a scenario where Cameron Carter Vickers is one of our starters at CB in 2018. And yes, that ref was completely over his head last night.
  10. Trayce Thompson went 0-3 but his K-rate, which has long been his biggest problem, is quietly down under 19% on the year. It'd be nice to see his BB rate be a little higher and to see more power, but it's encouraging to see his contact rate improve basically every year. I think he probably deserves to get his first taste of the big leagues this season if anyone goes down or in September.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) A draw would be a subpar result playing at home against anybody in that group. US actually has the most difficult group by far. Honduras and Panama are far from pushovers, meanwhile, Mexico's toughest opponent is T&T and Costa Rica's is Jamaica.
  12. That is one of the most brutal endings to a game I've seen at any level of soccer. That's awful for that player
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:48 AM) Before the US got the gift PK, one of the German players should have gotten her second yellow, and Alex Morgan got hauled down in the box, so I don't feel at all bad about the US getting that break. The Alex Morgan play in the first half was a good no call. I've seen it called before, but that wasn't a PK. The US was the better team and deserved to win, but they still look terrible in the final third.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:18 PM) Watched Impractical Jokers for the first time today... I spent most of the episode laughing. Great show One of my favorite shows. Impossible to not laugh out loud during the majority of the show
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) Anyone see how good Eduardo Vargas was yesterday for Chile? He almost scored a hat trick and hit a screamer from 34 yards out. It's crazy how he's not being used more at Napoli. His loan at QPR was pretty poor last year. The goal was a thing of beauty, and the goal improperly called offside was almost just as good
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) I'll likely be headed to Montreal on business in August. Recommendations? St. Catherines Street
  17. Death toll in Tunisian attack over 30 Can't say I'm all that surprised that this hasn't been getting a lot of attention.
  18. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 06:07 PM) I was thinking the same thing but let's face it, if we need to use Wondo or Morris then we are in bad shape since that is the 4th striker/forward spot. I disagree. Having Morris or even Agudelo on the roster gives us a speed weapon we could play on the wing, unlike any other forward we are bringing. I'm over Wondo, waste of a roster spot IMO.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 11:44 PM) It is amazing how much more popular the men's world cup was compared to the women's Why? It's a better product, there are more teams in the tournament, and you know a lot of the players from domestic leagues. As for the US game last night, they looked terrible. China is better than Colombia so they're going to have to play much more assertively or they could be in trouble.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 10:41 PM) Anyone watch Ballers? I enjoyed it. I thought it was fair. I'll give it another shot though. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 11:20 PM) True Detective was amazing tonight. It was alright. Kinda slow start. I love Rachel McAdams though.
  21. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 07:01 PM) I am going to Huntington Beach, Cali the weekend of the MLB Trade Deadline (my girlfriend has no regard for my personal life) and Vegas with the boys in August. Any random tips would be appreciated. Especially towards hotels for Vegas and anything about what to do in Vegas. Planet Hollywood has a nice champagne brunch in the morning/afternoon when you wake up. It's like $20 and you can add champagne (basically unlimited while you are there) for just an extra few bucks.
  22. QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) Yeah they can all go... Cooper is probably the one I like the best but I don't mind if they all go. We've had a remarkable run of keeping pitchers healthy and finding good ones, I don't know how much of that is luck and how much of that is truly Cooper and Herm, but I'd keep them despite any other managerial changes we might make.
  23. I'm sure Jose would be an improvement. I'd still like to hire Dave Martinez though.
  24. Thompson had another good game. Hitting .282 now with a reasonable strikeout rate still.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:09 AM) Agreed. There just aren't shortcuts in sports anymore, everyone is too smart. OTOH, it is truly remarkable that both times sox have made a signing that seemed so obvious and should work out, they went on to become the worst players in the MLB. That's amazing. Yes. I'm not even upset at the moves. They were logical and I was in complete agreement with most of them. It's unbelievable how disastrous they were/are so far.
