Golf and Rugby to be an olympic event

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 04:00 PM) And Baseball is not. Which makes rugbys inclusion such a joke. They claim there is no competition in baseball/softball, which was one of the main reasons to get them out. Well, what is there in rugby? Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, France, South Africa...who else might actually medal? There's less competition in rugby than there is in baseball/softball -
Good luck to him in the future. He got put into a situation he never should have been in. Ozzie's fault not his. Won't knock the guy for trying. Thanks for the catch. I really hope Chicago doesn't go and try to sign him though.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) Another dumb Facebook comment in response to how I think that Obama partially won the award because he's not Bush: "Oh, please. You can't really believe that. Or maybe you can." While we're on the topic of dumb facebook comments. He's a friend of mine's response to someone else claiming they can't believe he won and asking what he has done. (and no there is no sarcasm in the below comment, unfortunately) "umm wow seriously guys? come on. obama is the reason citizens in africa (even though still very 3rd world to the US) have Free universal Health care."

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) Oh, god. He just accepted it. The man didn't even have the sense to turn it down. You can't turn that award down as POTUS. It would be a huge slap in the face to the organization and the rest of the world. He shouldn't even have to anyways. He didn't deserve the award, but he was given it anyways by other people. It's not a bad thing to receive a Nobel Prize and i'm sure he's honored as a person and as an American to receive it. It does reflect well on our country to have our president win such an award, regardless of whether he should have or not.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) as a Dem, I'm thoroughly confused and slightly annoyed. I hate this kind of blind faith, and I thought we'd gotten past all the Obamania. But I guess we haven't quite... shame. Essentially with all this godliness we're heaping on Obama, it's going to be impossible for him to "succeed". How bout he's just a man. A very powerful man, but a man nonetheless. Not to mention one with a pitiful congress backing him up. But that's for another time. Great post.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) I really enjoyed The Office last night, and thought it was hilarious. ^^^ I don't get the hate.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:06 AM) Didn't think so. Way to wait a whole 2 minutes. Good job!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:57 AM) And leave it to the American right wing to crap on something we should be proud of. Just like they laughed at us losing an Olympic bid. Bahahaha Coming from someone who openly rooted for us to lose the Olympic bid...

QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) So let's see, if he doesn't tell anyone, we hear from Kap and SS he doesn't practice what he preaches, if he does, it is a publicity stunt. I have to hand it to the GOP, they sure know how to discredit someone. Brilliant strategy. Uhhh, someone claimed he did it anonymously. Yet it was in his movie that he did it. How can that be anonymous or anything other than a publicity stunt. If he wanted it to be truly anonymous it would not have been in the movie. But he wanted people to know, hence why it was in his movie.

Yea this is a joke. I heard about it this morning getting ready for work and didn't believe it until I saw it on msn.com I read the justification for him receiving it, but i don't buy it at all. Completely baffling. There were many, many, many, more deserving people for this.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 01:19 PM) Of course. If it were performance, we might see someone like Cook or F Hernandez on the list, but as a prospects, clearly they don't deserve to be there. That said, I personally think that as players move up levels, their performance is itself more and more indicative of their chances of major league success. Once you reach AA, it can't just be about tools or physical traits anymore - they need to be able to actually perform. Yeah that is true. Hopefully someone brings up CJ in the chat. I'm also just realizingViciedo wasn't mentioned. For a 20 year old kid I thought that was a great performance this year. Hopefully something is mentioned about him in the chat too

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 12:25 PM) No Retherford or Shirek. Not so surprised with Shirek, but I thought CJ had a shot. And remember, this is stile moreso a "best prospects in the league" thing rather than one based off performance.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 02:25 PM) 9.5 from IGN last week and a 9.5 from Gamespot today. Looks like it lives up to the hype. Metacritic has it as a 97/100. Only GTA IV (360/PS3), Ocarina of Time (N64), Soul Calibur (Dreamcast) and Tony Hawk 2 (PSOne) have ever had a higher score.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) I'd say very doubtful. I wonder how the people who bought the rights to this game is going to make any money off of it. The game isnt on PPV and is only available at a handful of bars according to the national team website. Too bad we didn't have another home game vs Honduras so we could return the favor. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 09:38 AM) I'm shocked anyone would even bother with the NBA Live franchise when the NBA 2k franchise has perfected basketball and is leaps and bounds better than Live. I've completely cut the NBA out of my life since the Sonics were stolen so I havent played the last 2 years of games but from my experience the 2K series is leaps and bounds better than Live.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) Sucks that this weekend's game at Honduras that could send us to the WC wont be on tv here in the US unless you go to a sports bar. None in my area is showing it right now according to ussoccer.com but a few Chicago bars will but I'm sure that there will be mostly Honduran fans there. Wow that sucks. Any chance there'll be some stream of it online? -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) Not that I know a lot about Brazilian soccer, but Corinthians is one of the, if not the most famous team in Brazil. They're one of the most famous teams in South America. I don't follow South American soccer leagues at all but I've always known of Corinthians and Boca Juniors -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) Damn I must have missed alot of his games for a while now. He used to be a stud defensive RF back in the minors and when he first came up. He's not a butcher. I don't really know what that guy was talking about.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 01:02 AM) Good. Now can Freddy have a productive offseason or will he get fat? That is the question. :eyeroll: It's so annoying seeing a promising thread bringing what many people here see as good news only to see you post your typical bulls*** within 2 posts. Your act is getting so old. As for the move, it is great to see. If he pitches like the way he did this year we'll have the best #5 starter in the league. And even if he makes his $3M with incentives it will still be a bargain considering he'd have to be good enough to even make that amount. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 11:52 AM) Fitting end to the season? Give me a f***ing break. I can think of about 45840752723793287 things that happened over the course of the last 6 months that was 50 times more symbolic of this overall failed season than Rios grounding into a DP to end an absolutely meaningless game from our point of view. The I hate Rios gang seriously needs to give it a rest. +1

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 10:29 AM) Hermida's really never developed in these past few years. If we can get him for Fields, alright. But anything more than that doesn't seem to be worthwhile. Yeah, there's no way on earth the Marlins make that trade.
