Ok so i'm not sure where to put this but it does involve an ex-Sox, Nick Swisher. Deadspin has been running a Q&A with an anonymous sports PR guy this afternoon. He's made contributions before but since he's anonymous who knows the validity. Anyways, I just found the following question and answer humorous since Swish has been kind of a contentious topic here and how he got along with his teammates Q: Best athlete feud we don't know about A: Nick Swisher and his teammates Link is here by the way. Some pretty interesting stuff throughout the rest of it too

QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 03:27 PM) Competent GMs can find good hitters beyond the first few rounds of a draft. Also, he can't scout international hitters worth a s***. Alexei and Dayan both have poor plate discipline. The former can stay because of his defensive impact, but Tank is looking like a career scrub. The track record is inexcusable, and so is the lack of outrage on these here boards. And this is where any credibility goes completely out the window

Vote for The 2013 Ford C. Frick Award

Oh no. Yankee fans are going to get a chance to vote for Michael Kay -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) I only worry about insane things like that since...it happened once before. And if you're referencing De Aza's previous injury instead, I don't think that's comparable either

QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) Dan Black still raking. He's a year older than Mitchell. If Mitchell had these numbers, this board would be lit up and Sox brass would be salivating, the Trib would be covering him, ESPN would induct him into the Hall of Fame.....Minor League POY, yadda, yadda. But his name is Dan Black, he's big so he plays first base and can't get promoted because he would interrupt the career path of Wilkins, Johnson, et al. Geez. You can keep making comments like this all you want, but it doesn't, and won't, change the fact that he is 25 and in A ball and that he's not even a top 30 prospect.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 09:25 AM) Stay hot Wise...but not so hot that they become convinced you should lead off for this team next year. I don't think De Aza is going anywhere

I watched the first 4 innings and was thoroughly disgusted. So I shut it off and went to bed (10PM on the east coast)....needless to say I did not expect to see the score line that I saw when I woke up. Great win and glad to see the bats wake up. Also, props to Ventura for pulling Floyd when he did. He only ended up allowing 3 runs but he was horrible, so I'm glad he had the thought to pull him when he did

QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 09:56 AM) I don't see the logic in comparing Thompson to Hawkins. Hawkins is brand new, just out of high school. Thompson has over 1300 professional AB's in 4+ seasons, and he'll probably get several hundred more. I hope the Sox don't expect Hawkins to get another 1200 AB's before they can make a decision on him. What does that mean? That means he will be 21 years old and probably (hopefully) in AA ball. Hawkins has years before "a decision" has to be made on him

Pretty good day for Americans over in Europe. Jozy scored another couple goals (4 in first 2 Eredivisie matches this year), Bradley scored in a pre-season match, Goodson had a goal and Bedoya scored on a bicycle -
Go Daddy should put him in one of their next commercials

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) KC is great. The BBQ at Jack Stack is unbelievable, and Boulevard brews some very respected beers. Plus Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. And it's the home of the Chiefs -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) All the students were 18, but she is still getting charged with a crime? That's bogus. She's not being charged with statutory rape, she's being charged with other crimes because she was in a position of authority.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) Is that a joke? That show is Homeland. It is amazing. A must watch. Possibly the best new show on TV all of last year. Just excellently done.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 10:37 AM) You guys think the Mexican fans are bad? Have you seen what happens in European and South American soccer stadiums? Congrats on the win. When it comes to the US playing in the Azteca, yes, they are atrocious. That is also what we see and experience. We don't draw the animosity over in Europe or South America so the USMNT doesn't experience that. Obviously, when matches are abandoned and people are killed like what happens in eastern europe, south america and africa, that is much worse. The crowd control isn't the best in Mexico but I think it is even worse in Guatemala. That place is a disaster to play in. -

1. Courtney Hawkins 2. Trayce Thompson 3. Kennyn Walker 4. Erik Johnson 5. Carlos Sanchez 6. Keon Barnum 7. Andre Rienzo 8. Scott Snodgress 9. Nestor Molina 10. Jared Mitchell Edit: I don't know if we are still considering Hector Santiago a prospect, but if so, I'd have him at 6

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 12:39 PM) I think we finally figured out why their games start at 7:07 instead of 7:05--they have two national anthems to play!! I mentioned that yesterday in the beginning of the game thread when someone asked. I'm pretty sure that is in fact the reason -
Watched Friends With Kids last night with the GF. It was alright. Unsurprisingly, it was very predictable. Talk about a movie that makes you want to not have kids though.
