http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sport...all/6977710.htm Believe it or not, I found this on the Cubs board, and the guy that posted it was actually finding the humour in it! They though obviously see it as a slam ONLY on the Marlin fans, and looked past the slams on Cubs fans, and their team. Funny stuff none-the-less.

Good Lawdy!!! May I have your permission to send this post to a buddy of mine who should by all rights be a Sox fan? That was one of the best I have read on any board! It almost brought a tear to my eye! This buddy of mine, I have never understood why he is such a HUGE Cub fan, and that post just backs it all up. He is EVERYTHING that was in that post, and I mean LITERALLY!!! Beautiful work!

I am behind Boston. I like 'em, and it would be nice to see something rammed down the Yankees throats, and for all my love of baseball history, I would love it to be the spirit of Babe being rammed down that gullet.

Has the Cubs success made your Sox love stronger?

CWSOX45 and I are going for a beer! Hope you like the expensive foriegn s***, as it is all I will buy. IndySoxFan! You get a beer also just for having the single greatest superhero as your avatar! SPOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNN!!! -
John Hughes more or less apologized for using the Cubs game in FERRIS! It turns out he is a Sox fan, but at the time that they needed to shoot the film, only the Cubs were playing, so he had to use them. He talks about it in his commentary track on the FERRIS DVD. They also referred to the Cubs as "Americas Team" on the Mike and Mike show on ESPN. Luckily it was Greenberg that called them that, and what he says usually implodes.

I have the same feeling, and I think that is why I am wanting to wear the colors more now, to show that I am still there no matter what the Cubs do. -

I had one Cub fan stop and ask me where my Cubs jersey was (I was wearing my Sox jersey), I told him it was on the bonfire at home. He laughed and went about his business. I can deal with those fans that have a sense of humour, and trust me, this guy was a Cubs fan, as his store even has a bottle of champaign from the '84 Cubs. I haven't had any ugly encounters, other than what I encounter on my TV. -

Thats what I keep saying to the people around me! They say "you should root for the Cubs, they are the hometeam!!!", to which I say "When did Harvard buy the Cubs!?!" -
I hate to have this come across like the whole "lovable loser" bulls***, but with the Cubs success, I am finding myself wearing my Sox colors with all that much more pride. I spend my time with the post season games watching the games and also flipping through my White Sox Encyclopedia, and reading up on other forms of Sox history. I have also found this board, thanks to the trolling Cub fans on the "official" board. So how about it, have any of you other Sox fans had more love come about for some strange reason due to all that is happening in the Chicagoland area?

Can we trick him into thinking that Crede actually plays for the Braves and that Maddux is the guy the Sox have?
-
No problem, I am a HORRIBLE gambler!!! I just think that Maddux has proven himself to be one of the best ever, and I would trust him to still be good down the road, whereas Colon I never feel 100% confident with.

Here, here!!! :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs p.s. though it does pain me a bit that my wife is cheering for the Cubs now, though for here it is more for her family. She still hates Sosa. But she admits that she only really likes the White Sox and is not a "Baseball" fan. It took me a few years to get her this far, I believe in a few more years she will be a full on Sox fan. Give me a little time. -
Hopefully if those guys go again in 6 & 7 by that time the Marlins crew will have had enough time to catch onto what to expect fully, and will be used to Wood and Prior. I have always felt that when you are a pitcher like Wood, you are always playing with fire. His speed is so high, that if the batters get used to you, they will just destroy you. You live and die by speed, the only outs you can get are strike out's. This is from what I think, and better baseball experts might disagree. But I think that by the end of the series here, if the Marlins hang in there, the mystique of the Cubs starters will be gone.

I was watching the Red Sox. I can't take seeing the Cubs anymore. :fthecubs

Just got it to 54.5%, and I am tired and going to bed. But I feel a little like I did my good deed for the day. Sure, I may have pushed a little old lady over while running to kick a puppy, BUT I STUCK IT TO THE MAN TONIGHT!!! :fthecubs

It hurts that I have to go to Q101 to do this, but hey, why not. When I voted the Sox were at 14%, I have just sat here clicking over and over, and now I think I broke it. Oops. I'm not getting the result screen. Heh, f*** Q101 and :fthecubs

If you thought Cubs fans couldn't get dumber
Kid Gleason replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
But then they noticed it was an apple and they decided it had to be a "Big Apple" and it was from a New York fan. So they were then even placing fans of teams that had no part of the game there, and still not thinking it could be a Cub fan. I almost threw my TV out the window, but the thing is pretty big and heavy, and I didn't want to rupture my spleen or anything. Ya know how it is. -
Cubs can make a run for Maddux, but I bet he will run away. What if we go for Maddux if we lose Colon? I would bet that JR and KW would be willing to add on to the number they offered Colon if that was a possiblity. Gee, wonder who the Yankees are looking for to put in the outfield. I bet they place Bernie in the DH and run to Maggs.

Santo is a terrible announcer, but he loves the team and seems like a heck of a guy. I know a guy who worked at his restaurant and said he had met Santo on numerous occasion and that he was a hell of a nice guy. I hope he gets well soon, but I hope his team fails miserably. :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs

One of the Fox announcers says:
Kid Gleason replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
But who is to say that Sosa would have had the same number of HR's playing in Comiskey? I do believe that Wrigley is a smaller park, and the NL pitchers are not the same breed as the AL. Things could have been different for the guy. Also, Sosa didn't really become a HUGE star until '98, and that is when people started to flock to see him. So many of the Sox attendance problems would have been the same through '97. The star of the team was never Sosa, it was Ventura, Thomas, etc... -
Will KW get to talk to Ozzie this week?
Kid Gleason replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hopefully he won't be able to talk to him for a few weeks as he will be too busy with the Marlins in the World Series. -
Not an embrassment, but nothing to really write home about either. He's done pretty well in the All-Star games though.
-
LOL! Nah, just the craze that take over the city when anything like this happens. I didn't get into the whole Bulls thing because I hate basketball more than I hate the Cubs. But I am a baseball freak, so to not even pay attention to the World Series when it is this close to me would be a little crazy, if it gets to the Series point. Granted, I would probably be more interested in going if it were happeneing in Milwaukee, but this is too close to just walk by. It isn't the teams I am interested in, but rather just the World Series. But if Boston is there, then I will be going for a team I actually like. Plus my brother-in-law is a Boston nut, so I will be pushing him to track down tickets.

Did he do anything this year though? I watched the games, but they are a bit of a haze already. Plus, '96 was a few years ago, how has he been in the years since in the post?
