  1. That's a nice post, but if they do win it all, you know that it will haunt our days and nights for years and will spoil any beauty that the Sox may achive in the eyes of the media. I expect a Series appearance, and I expect a valiant battle on the part of the Cubs, but I full expect a Yankees victory. Oh sure, the Yanks aren't going yet, but you know it is a matter of days. I have my hopes up for a Marlins/Red Sox Series though. Man, I don't know, I just know I am REALLY bummed about this, and I know that the city will embrace the Cubs like never before if they win it all, and it will be a kick in the balls to the Sox if that happens, and it will show and be rubbed in our faces on opening day of next year, and for the first half of the season in the ways of the Cubs-fans favorite comparison: attendance.
  2. Everybody I know of is going on about how it is too bad the Cubs didn't win yesterday!!! I think this just shows how little people REALLY understand the way this is going. What Cub fan in their friggin' right mind wants them to win the stupid game while in Florida!?! It's been a little while since something this big has happened in the city of Chicago for baseball, and these boneheads are upset about not winning the game yesterday. No concept, or just VERY little faith. Whatever, as of tomorrow night I am ignoring the outside world at about 9:30 PM until I wake up the next morning. Then I will do EVERYTHING in my power to avoid all forms of news until I get into work and one of the Cub fans here starts to gloat. :fyou
  3. Nothing in Heaven or on Earth can make me root for the Cubs. Simple as that, why root for a team you don't like? I am the only one I know of against the Cubs though. I spoke to two of my Sox buddies the other night (they even have their whole basement done in Sox memorabilia), and even they are pulling for the Cubs. It was a dagger to my heart. But I am all there is, and I will give up on baseball before I will cheer on the Cubs. There is no alternative.
  4. Well, one positive side of it all for me is that as of Thursday night, I will have my "no TV" nights back. I never watch TV aside from Baseball, I usually just watch movies I have on DVD. So, as of Thursday, when the Red Sox have fallen down, and the other team has clinched it, I will be able to stop watching Baseball, as for the first time in God only knows how many years, I really won't give two s***s about an event called "The World Series". On a positive note, I am going to a beer tasting event in Palatine at Durty Nellies this weekend, so I will be loaded on nice beer, so when I miss the game that night, I really won't care. :fthecubs
  5. This could be a fun new feature. Lord knows we would never run out of reading material!
  6. I love Bill Murray, and it really hurts that he is a fan of that other team.
  7. I'll be watching the Baseball game, as I hate football almost as much as I hate the Cubs. Though, in all reality, I hate pretty much all sports aside from Baseball. So, take that for what it is worth. ***I couldn't even name all of the teams in the NFL, and I can probably only name 5 Hockey teams, if I am lucky!!!***
  8. Something tells me that it doesn't matter who you bring in to manage the team, Frank is the only person who will decide how Frank plays. I think the manager will have to be thought about with all the other players in mind, and forget about Frank. The more time passes, and the more I see info on the candidates, I keeping thinking more and more along the lines of "Ozzie? Why not!". I like what I know about Gaston, but I would be VERY surprised if he ended up here. I don't know why, I just would be. Of everybody else, Ozzie is just as tempting. The records of the other guys isn't blowing me away, and I think Ozzie could get these guys fired up.
  9. 'scuse me while I go pummel inanimate objects...
  10. Just saw this, I'd buy one for sure! I like the V neck idea. A logo on a sleeve would also be cool, or maybe just the www.soxtalk.com wrapped on the sleeve.
  11. Can I just ask, how can a name be "too gay"? Is your name Elton or something? I have never heard of anything so silly!
  12. Can't watch anymore, it's too painful.
  13. I play, but I don't have a Mesa. My main guitar is a Hagstrom Viking that I run through a Rat pedal, into a Marshall Plexi. Basic set-up is the only way to go. Gotta love them tubes!!!
  14. Well, if you are God, can you please do something about this Cubs travesty and our beloved Sox?
  15. If this is all true, can we trade Frank? Maybe even get a "way back machine" and trade him before last year so we can salvage the season? Please?
  16. I was also handed a pretty funny column from the Tribune. It's post-season coverage in the Chicago area from the perspective of a Sox fan. I guess columnist John Kass is a Sox fan, and he works for the Trib!?! Anyhow, I was going to post the link, but you have to be a member of the Tribune, and I am not one, and choose to stay free of the evils of this society, so i can't drop the link. But if you have the Trib, head on over and read the Kass column, and then post it here if you can.
  17. It was on the MLB Cub board: http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/mb/message.asp...g=64395.1&ctx=0 We might wish to delete this link after people walk over there for a few. Don't want it stinking up this board.
  18. I would just think they would want to stay as far away from the loons as possible. I can just see Thomas sitting at home in his underwear, glass of orange juice next to the computer, him signing on under his name of "SammysDingleBerry", and slamming himself and Sox management. Then admitting he is giving up his season tickets because his fave poster did the same thing
  19. Does anybody on here actually know anybody else? I mean, is there any chance that one of the people here is actually somebody from the Sox? Not that they would waste time with a bunch of yahoo's on a message board, but ya never know. Bmr, so are you actually somebody famous? Excuse my ignorance, I am still learning the site.
  20. Ah, once the Cubs hit the post I stopped watching any form of the news. Actually, I pick up Rockford pretty good, and there is pretty much NO Cubs coverage there, outside of the Sports segments, so if I am seeing the news, it is Rockford at dinner time, and even then i don't pay too close of attention to it.

    Ozzie G

I really, really, really like Ozzie, as most Sox fans do, and I do think he could do wonders for this team and it's public relations. I know we need a winner on the field, but if things go bad (good?) on the other side of town, we need somebody who people will like. If Ozzie can get them to win, then I think the Sox will survive anything that happens in this post season. But in a first year management situation, I don't think that can happen. Man, it's a catch 22 in many ways. But we need a winning team (duh) and one that people will WANT to see for more than just the winning. IMO or course.
  22. This is the first time I have ever read one of his columns, believe it or not. My sister is a pretty big fan of his. For a first time read, I like his stance on the Cubs. Who is the Berry reader?
  23. Josh Paul is there now. Poor guy. The Cub fans I know personally are all cool. But the ones I don't know on a personal basis, they are pretty much all dicks.
  24. Have yet to hear that song. I guess that it is a good thing I live in a world of DVD's and Old Time Radio programs. Maybe I will crawl out from under my rock to check this stuff out.
