Is re-signing Jose really that bad of an Idea?
The way I see things shaking out: Renteria stays in St. Louis Nomar stays in Chicago/or goes to the West Coast Cabrera stays in Boston Vizquel goes to Seattle (His original team. Originally had him in a trade for Carlos Guillen during the offseason, but Vizquel failed a physical and now Guillen is Mr. Tiger. How about Craig Counsell coming in to back up Uribe?

Is re-signing Jose really that bad of an Idea?
As I sit here watching the game and thinking about this coming offseason and free agency, I can't help but ask myself... Is re-signing Jose Valentin at a reduced price really that bad of an idea? Sure we will have Juan Uribe, and even Wilson Valdez to possibly take their shot at short, but many teams besides us are gonna be in the market for a SS. Off the top of my head.. Boston, St. Louis, Chicago(N), Seattle, Cincy, Colorado, and even Cleveland will all have openings to fill at SS. Cleveland will go with their guy Perralta in AAA, but I think everyone else will be at work in Free Agecy. I don't wanna get stuck with Royce Clayton again. So how about it... Re-sign Jose or Take your chances with Uribe or FA?

Trade Idea
I would not trade Garland for Gerut alone... but I will agree with your thoughts that Gerut is most likely on the move. Unless he can prove last year wasn't a fluke, he simply looks like a Good 4th OF. I think someone out there will give the Tribe some pitching for him... but I don't think that pitching will be the caliber of Garland. *Cleveland also has an abundace of 1B/DH in Hafner, Broussard, Phelps, and add Blake to that mix once Aaron Boone takes over at third. The Tribe could really solidify their bullpen with a deal in the offseason.

Things could be BAD for the D'Backs

Jose Contreras
Did you know over the past two years with the Yankees, Contreras went 15-7, and four of his seven losses were against the Boston Red Sox. Contreras vs. the Red Sox: 0-4 Contreras vs. the rest of the AL: 15-3 I am really excited to see Contreras flourish now that he is out of the Big Apple.

Loaiza at today's Yankees Game
They showed Loaiza several times on the bench during today's Yankees game. He no longer has facial hair (because of Steinbrenner's rule) so he looks quite different. He is also wearing # 28 because they wouldn't let him have # 21. I guess they hold # 21 sacred because Paul O'neil used to wear it. The Yankees announcers said Loaiza has worn # 28 before.

Did Anyone just here what I heard on the Score?
The Score just said the Sox are talking with the Yankees about sending Schoenwies and Loaiza. Who the Sox would be getting was not mentioned. If this is true... my guess is it includes Contreras and Lofton.

Latest scoop on Mets-Bucs-Sox deal
I don't think this deal is going to happen. It all starts with a little Gasoline from Gammons and now it is out of control. The Pirates are still listening to offers for Benson. Look at this little tidbit from Rotoworld: The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that while talks with the Twins regarding Kris Benson have stalled, Minnesota is not out of the running. The Braves could also make a play for Benson. The Rangers aren't dead either. Oddly enough, the one team the article doesn't mention is the Mets, who as of last night were considered the frontrunners for Benson, and want to sign him to an extension if they get him. As for the Braves, who are a sudden mystery guest, ''I know they're interested,'' a baseball official said. ''They just like to stay under the radar. Their people don't talk.'' The Braves might trade RHP Jose Capellan and third baseman Andy Marte for Benson, the Post-Gazette reports. If that's the case, which frankly would be hard to believe, the Pirates should jump and not look back. If the Braves offer Capellan or Marte, both are Stud prospects (better than Sweeney). If they offer both the Pirates will be loving life. Marte is the Braves TOP prospect. Capellan is their TOP pitching prospect.

Possibility of AAA Charlotte Moving?
There are tons of factors that come into making a decision on an affiliate. My brother happens to be the G.M./C.O.O. of a AAA team so we talk about this topic alot. Minor League Organizations target Major League teams based on many factors. From the minor league talent, to a team's history... it is wild. While my brother wouldn't be happy with me if I kept running my mouth, I will end by saying the White Sox having a new AAA home next year is a strong possibility.

Ozzie sound bite on the Score
WSCR had a sound bite from Ozzie stating he just got done telling KW that he needs a lead off hitter. He said he needs a little guy who can actually get on base. He went on to make fun of the situation saying we have to have the all-time most Solo Home runs. So I wonder, If KW agrees with Ozzie, who is that Little Guy. Go Get Carl Crawford. Trade the whole farm for him. I have heard the DRays are listening to offers for Rocco Baldelli because of their abundance of young OF. So lets help them out by taking one off their hands.

I may have two extras for tonight.
Hey all... Bottom Line is I may have two extras for tonight's game. If interested in going, or if you are going to be there and just want better seats, send me a PM. I would like to sell these tickets for face value, but may just end up giving them away. Thought I would try here to help out a fellow Sox fan.

Rumored Bears Deal
I just heard on the radio that the Dolphins have targeted the Vikings and the Bears as their two canidates to get a RB from. The ESPN National Radio guys said if they were the Dolphins they would try to deal with the Vikes. Onterrio Smith would be the key piece going to the Dolphins.

Jackson
I have to believe David Sanders or someone in AAA would be better served on this team that Mike Jackson. Mike Jackson... BEAT IT Old Man!

Mariners-Royals trade coming?
From: Rotoworld.com The Akron-Beacon Journal cites an American League source who believes that Mike Sweeney is on the verge of being traded to the Mariners for Gil Meche and one or two minor-leaguers. That comes out of left field with both teams involved focusing on the future. The Royals could do well for themselves here with Sweeney no longer needed with the emergence of Ken Harvey. The Mariners could be viewing Sweeney as the heir to Edgar Martinez's long run as their DH.

Freddy Garcia
I read somewhere that the Yankees have told the D'Backs they could have 6 top prospects for Randy Johnson. D'Backs Scouts who have been watching the Yankees farm system for the past two weeks said the Yankees don't really have 6 TOP prospects, and none of their top prospects will be ready for the Majors for a few years.

The Trade I'd Make
Beltran is a stud, and I would love to have him. But all signs point to him testing the Free Agent Waters this off-season no matter what. When I was in Houston for the All-Star game, alot of talk centered on re-signing Lance Berkman who is also in the last year of his current deal. Berkman wants to get a deal done now, but they aren't close on the terms. The Media went on to say talks won't even start with Beltran because he is gonna test the market. The Asros were rumored to possibly offer a 5 year 15 mil a year contract, but Boras told them to wait until the off-season and they can offer that then. I am convinced someone will give Beltran big money. Heck, I hope the Sox give him big money, but I would not trade the caliber of players its gonna take to get Beltran, without the assurance of keeping him here. p.s. I am still convinced Joe Crede will be an All-Star, and a player us Sox fans will be cheering on for years to come.

JOE FUCKING CREDE!!!!!
Joe Crede is so fun to root for. Of everyone on this team I want to see him succeed more than any other player on this team. This should be a very exciting second half.

Morse hot for San Antonio......
I went and watched Morse play (for the first time) last week in San Antonio against Round Rock. While I can't make a judgement from one game, its nice to finally see him play and see his big swing.

Tribune article
Greetings from Houston. Down here to attend the All-Star Festivities, and I feel I can share a few interesting things on this discussion. In an interview with reporters on the field yesterday during the workout day, Randy Johnson said he would waive his no-trade clause if it were the right situation. The three teams mentioned at the top of his list were Anaheim, New York (A), and Boston. The buzz around the All-Star game is that RJ will be an Angel by Sunday. Rumored to go to Arizona in return are Mathis (or McPherson), Scott Shields, and minor league arm. Concerning Beltran, it really seems like the Astros fans want him traded. I know how crazy that sounds, but the Astros are getting blown up after this year. The fans #1 interest in re-signing hometown hero Lance Berkman who is also a free agent at the end of this year. Houston does need money, but if Beltran is to go... they need pieces for their future. The teams rumored to land Beltran down here are the Dodgers and Padres. Well that is about it for now. Take care. And just my 2 cents... I would love to have Beltran on the Sox, and I would pay him whatever he wanted. Randy Johnson to the Angels. Carlos Beltran to the Dodgers
