BenMaller.com has learned from a baseball loving mole that the Oakland A's are near a deal that will send OF Eric Byrnes to Arizona for Pitcher Jose Valverde. Byrnes batted .283 with 20 HR's and 73 RBI's for the Athletics last season.

I have heard Dye on some hunting show on ESPN 1000 Early on Saturday Mornings several times. He is supposedly the best hunter in MLB. He seems/sounds like a very down to earth guy.

The first place I want Maggs is here with us... since that isn't going to happen, I want Maggs as far away from the Sox as possible. I DO NOT want to see him go to the Cubs, or anyone in our division... I really don't even want to see him in the American League. Thats my feelings on this. Please someone in the N.L. besides the Cubs come calling for Maggs.

Man I would be going nuts right now if I were an Astros Fan. 610AM in Houston just reported from outside of Minute Maid Park. Said the Astros will have some form of press conference at 11 pm central time. They are just waiting to hear from Boras and Beltran.

I am really hoping to see him sign to remain with the Astros (unless he wants to sign with us), but it looks like they only have about an hour left to announce an agreement. My friend in Houston said Houston Sports Radio has been all over this all day. They really like their chances of him returning. I guess they are supposed to have a press conference tonight to make an announcement good or bad. Anyone else heard/know anything?

It used to get to me so bad when AJ would do his "flip" of the ball to the mound on an inning ending K. And I won't forget in the playoffs against the A's a couple of years ago how everyone on the A's wanted to kick his tail. He was getting under their skin saying booyah (or however you spell it) after every strikeout. I remember there was a lot in the news about the situation, then late in the series AJ hit a huge home run, and as he rounded the bases coming to home plate, he looked to the A's dugout, stomped on home plate and screamed booyah. Those things used to get to me so bad... now I sort of have a smile while thinking about him on our side.

Agreeing with S720, I think you have to believe the Astros know best about this situation. Unfortunately, we don't have an owner who will just throw money at a player who is a question mark. KW is doing the most with what he has been given.
