  1. Is it just me or is Bruce on a mission to take over Gammons as King of the BS Trade Rumors.
  2. I wonder what Magglio thinks of all of this. He is the only one out of Nomar, ARod, Manny, and Maggs that I haven't read any comments from. I wonder if he cares.
  3. Got this from the Mariners message board on espn.com: SEATTLE -- Seattle Mariners closer Kazuhiro Sasaki told the team Monday he will not pitch for Seattle in 2004, deciding to forfeit the final year of his contract and remain with his family in Japan. The Mariners' career saves leader, who turns 36 on Feb. 22, would walk away from up to $9.5 million by not playing for Seattle next season. "It's a personal situation," agent Tony Attanasio said. "He wanted to stay home with his kids. Last year, he did not have his kids with him and his wife. He had to have that, and he left a lot of money on the table." Attanasio said Sasaki may pitch in Japan next season but "he will not pitch again in the United States."
  4. One guy I wouldn't mind seeing invited to Spring Training would be Shawn Estes. He hasn't signed with anyone yet, and he could be a decent Left Handed #5.
  5. Ok. If I did indeed interpret his post wrong. I apologize.
  6. I totally agree. Sullivan is not the same player he was 2-3 years ago in Cincy. I too am not that sad that he is gone.
  7. Maybe before throwing out yor BFD you should realize I said in the post this wasn't that big. I was just posting info from the interview for those who didn't hear it, or those who aren't in Chicago to get ESPN 1000. I just found it interesting that Cora didn't say this is the team we will go to ST with. He said he has no idea what its going to look like and went on to say KW wasn't done. If you don't like sorry.
  8. Joey Cora was interviewed on Saturday on ESPN Radio. There really wasn't much to the interview, mostly just focused on Ozzie and his plans for the team. Cora did say something very interesting though. Cora said Ozzie and him talk all of the time, and that KW and Ozzie talk nearly every day. Cora went on to say he has no clue what the team will look like that opens spring training, but he said KW is working hard, and something major will happen. They tried to get him to elaborate on it, but it basically came down to Cora having a feeling that a "Big" move is going to go down in the next couple of weeks. I know this doesn't mean much at all, but Cora's comments still make me think our team is not complete yet. While it may be the long rumored Konerko or Maggs deals, I think one key move may be a signing.
  9. Grilli was the prospect dealt from the Giants to the Marlins to get Livan Hernandez back when he was on top of the game. I am really rooting for this guy to bounce back (WITH US OF COURSE).
  10. The week before Thanksgiving I was in Vegas for business and saw Frank. IK stayed at the Mandalay Bay, and while walking through the Casino I saw Frank and Charles Barkley in a private gambling room playing Black Jack. The room's entrance was blocked by hotel security, but it had large open windows. I hollered Frank's name and he turned around and simply gave me a head nod. And that was it. I sure hope he has went to the batting cages a few times this winter!
  11. It pains me to think about this. I would be a Sox fan no matter where the are located. I can't imagine jumping ship after I have already been through this much crap and I am still here. But what if another team eventually moved in here. For Example: The Cleveland Browns become the Baltimore Ravens, then down the Road... the Cleveland Browns are a new expansion team. Who do the TRUE Cleveland Browns root for (I don't think its the Ravens)>
  12. I have accepted the fact that Maggs is gonna be gone. Whether it is now or after the season is yet to be determined, but if he does get moved in this rumored deal I would be happy. Edwin Jackson is a stud!
  13. Anyone here planning on going to Sox Spring Training? I think this year I am going to give in and go. If you have been, how have your experiences in Arizona been. I haven't been to Spring Training since the Sox were in Florida.
  14. I hope they play his hit song "Thriller" when he runs in from the pen.
  15. I like this signing. I wish we would sign a couple more guys to minor league deals like this. Person has always been a solid arm, especially a few years ago. I just like it that KW brought in a pitcher with Major League experience to battle with Wright, Cotts, etc. for that 5 spot or long relief.
  16. I am guessing they will try to save face a little (they being BA) and I think they will put him second, only behind Jeremy Reed.
  17. We desperately need PITCHING. I can handle Rowand in Center (with the possibility of Borchard) and I can handle Uribe and Harris battling it out at 2nd... but man do we need pitching. Sign someone....anyone! These starters are still out there. Andy Ashby Pedro Astacio John Burkett Ryan Dempster Shawn Estes Jose Lima Rick Helling Damian Moss Ron Villone and Sidney Ponson Wow other than Ponson, that really is scrapping the bottom of the barrell. I just think KW is playing find the next ELO
  18. Damn, Sorry I didn't realize that. I guess that means there are no good alternatives to play second then. By the way, Robbie Alomar haunts Carlos Baerga wherever he goes. Cleveland, NY, and now Arizona.
  19. Baerga did a decent job in a utility role for the D'Backs last year, and he is the only player left out there in Free Agency that could help us out at second base. Baerga's 2003 Stats G-105 AB-207 R-31 H-7 2B-13 3B-0 HR-4 RBI-39 BB-18 SO-20 SB-1 CS-1 BA -.343 OBP-.396 SLG-.464 OPS- .859 This is a cheap alternative that could be decent.
  20. The Los Angeles Times is confirming that the Angels and Vladimir Guerrero have agreed to terms on a five-year, $70 million contract. With that being said, I am very anxious to see what this does for Magglio. The best OF in the game who is also younger than Maggs just got 5 yrs/14 mil. per. I think this makes the reported offer that Maggs rejected of 4 yrs/ 12 mil per. look extremely fair. The big time money is gone. I remember when Arod signed, everyone was saying the next huge deal would be Vlad... Well 14 million is a lot, but the market has now come down. I wonder if this signing will make Magglio more interested in resigning, or if he will still want to try and test the waters.
  21. I was watching ESPN Classic the other night and Nardi popped up. He was the pitching coach for the Mariners in the early 90's. I had to change the channel real quick as I gota real uneasy feeling of Nardi Flashbacks going through my head.
  22. I would love to see Greg Norton back. Come on Kenny, theres your back-up third baseman.
  23. I will be the first to say... I want Konerko to stay. I don't think he has reached his prime yet, and I don't consider Washburn or Perez that special.
  24. If we got Edwin Jackson in a deal for Paulie Danny Evans would be killed. Jackson is the Dodgers STUD. A sure fire star. Baseball America says he is the biggest Dodgers pitching star since Pedro. I bet we couldn't even get Jackson in a deal for Maggs, let alone Paulie. We should probably focus our sites on Greg Miller instead of Jackson.
  25. Robbie signing with the D'Backs for 1 Million for 1 Year shows Kenny Williams knew what he was doing. Robbie can say all he want about us disrespecting him with a low ball offer, but in the end he got even less. Just goes to show you it is not about playing with your brother, or even in a clubhouse that you like... it is all about the money... and every player wants more than he is worth... Right Maggs! Too bad for Robbie, I wish him all the best with the D'Backs. I still don't think Willie will be our opening day 2nd Baseman.
