Take it for what its worth (from the Score)
JDsDirtySox replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They just stated the same thing again, but this time they added that the Sox are simply trying to get prospects for Konerko, not Odalis Perez. They would then offer the cash saved to Ponson. They keep saying this info is from White Sox sources, but who knows. Atleast we can hope. -
670 AM The Score just reported in their latest update that the Sox are again talking to L.A. about a possible deal involving Konerko. Offman went on to say the Sox want to sign Ponson but first have to move salary. Nothing new, but I just find it interesting that Konerko talk is coming up again.

While it looks like its going to happen, nothing is done yet. According to the Kansas City Star, the Royals and Juan Gonzalez haven't yet agreed to terms, although Kansas City is the slugger's probable destination. "We actually started with about six, and we've got about three left," agent Alan Nero said. "But I would clearly say that Kansas City is the frontrunner at the moment." GM Allard Baird said that Gonzalez likely would play right field if signed, pushing Aaron Guiel to left. And Unless Juan has learned to pitch this offseason, I am not sure how this move puts K.C. over the top

If Urbina comes cheap I believe his friendship with Ozzie will be very important for us. I think this is the guy that is out there that we may get. If we do get Urbina, adding him to the bullpen we have right now would be great. I am sure we prolly have to move Billy to get Urbina here, but if not... A bullpen of : Urbina Marte Koch Wunsch Wright Santiago or Politte that would be nice

Trade with the Dodgers, someone jsut posted it...
JDsDirtySox replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I guess I'll be the first one to say I'd be okay with this deal if it is true. Giving up Maggs and Cotts is sad, but Scott S. is expendable and Borchard needs to move on (we need to move on without him). Getting Perez and Mota are huge, and Miller is great (the only thing I'd like more is if it was Jackson instead). Roberts will be a decent CF if Rowand can't handle it, and he has succeeded as a lead off hitter. I'll believe this deal when I get proof, but like I said, I'd be okay with it. -
From Rotoworld: The Newart Star-Ledger is reporting that the Mets and Braden Looper have agreed to terms on a two-year, $6.5 million contract. Not a bad deal. Looper may not really be worth over $3 million per season, but it's only for two years and the move means that the team's young relief prospects will be able to settle in as middle men.

I too am happy Maggs is still here, but that happiness will change if Maggs Does end up leaving at the end of next year. I understand Maggs wants to test FA, but I really wish he would just stay here and could work something out with us. I would be happy with Maggs and a contract extension or Nomar and a contract extension, but if we end up with one year of Maggs then lose him for nothing, we will be in more trouble than we already are.
-
saying that is absurd
-
I have heard this come up the past few days. Did something happen to cause these feelings, or is Boston just trying to justify giving up on one of their own for baseball crown jewel ARod?
-
The one positive thing for us if Nomar heads our way is Tellem (his agent). He and JR are good friends, and could probably work something out if JR wants to. With that being said, I still think he will end up in LA. But one Arod for Manny happens, and Nomar for Maggs happens... that puts KW in the drivers seat. I would believe he could get the Dodgers and Danny Evans to do just about whatever he wants them to do. The Dodgers had Maggs offered to them from us, and Nomar offered to them from the Bo Sox, but didn't want to pay the price. Now I bet they are gonna overpay whether they like it or not. GO Sox!
-
Nothing really new... George Offman says, Sources say KW will be keeping Nomar Garciaparra once traded to the White Sox unless the Dodgers want to take Konerko as well. He also says Jose will be heading to Seattle sometime today. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it is all as close to done as it can get. Our Hot Stove is OVERHEATING!

Vizguel for Carlos Guillen Trade is OFF
JDsDirtySox replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
12/16/2003 8:22 PM ET Vizquel trade to Seattle nixed By Jim Street / MLB.com Slick-fielding shortstop Omar Vizquel played for the Mariners from 1989-93. (John Froschauer/AP) The proposed trade that would return Omar Vizquel to the Mariners is dead. The switch-hitting shortstop told MLB.com Tuesday evening that his surgically repaired right knee didn't pass the physical examination given by Mariners physicians and he remains employed by the Cleveland Indians. "They called me about an hour ago and told me I didn't pass the test on my knee," Vizquel said from his Issaquah, Wash., home. "It was kind of a shock. I was really looking forward to coming back and playing for the Mariners." The trade reportedly would have sent shortstop Carlos Guillen to the Indians, although officials from both organizations would not confirm the particulars of the deal, which was reported in the Seattle Times Tuesday morning. Mariners general manager Bill Bavasi could not be reached for comment. Vizquel said he went to Safeco Field on Tuesday for some agility drills and then was examined by Dr. Larry Pedegana, the Mariners medical director and team physician Dr. Mitch Storey. -

Its all over the Mariners ESPN Message Board. They have a link on there I believe. -
Just heard this. Now Jose is back in business.

The way contracts are going, I have a feeling Maggs will see the market just isn't the same anymore, and he will want to come back to the Sox. Maggs makes 14 million now, and was offered a four year 48 million dollar deal which he rejected. Now I bet he'd jump on that in a second. Maggs isn't gonna get that big money he is looking for. there are just too many other corner OF options out there, and people are spending their money on Pitching. Does anyone else see this as a likely scenario>?

Cardinals Trade: of JD Drew of Eli Marrero Braves Trade: p Jason Marquis p Adam Waingwright p Ray King This is a huge deal for both clubs. ATL adds drew in right, and Eli can pla OF or a little C. STL gets Marquis a young decent arm with ML experience, King an experienced reliever, and Waingwright, The Braves Top Pitching Prospect.
-
Cardinals traded Eli Marrero too. wow this is a big deal in my eyes.
-
I like this from Kenny. This shows me he understands the importance to Maggs on this team and the importance of Maggs to the fans. Maybe this means Maggs stays (and hopefully gets resigned)
-
Where do you hear that this deal is 99% done?
-
When I think of grinders on the Sox, I think of CLee and Jose. Also, when I think grinder, a guy I think of is Todd Walker, 2B. I'd love to have that guy.
-
After seeing events unfold in the past week with Schilling, and Kelvim Escobar, I seriously think Bartolo will be back on the Sox. I am now starting to wonder if JR and KW are gonna welcome him back. All along I have thought they gave Bartolo a weak half hearted offer knowing Bartolo wouldn't take it. Now the way things are going they may really get him whether they wanted him or not.

I can't wait for Sox Fest. Baseball can't get here soon enough.
