I totally agree that this info from Kelly shouldn't be taken too seriously yet. Lets face it, the Sox have yet to announce who is gonna be at Sox Fest cause half of the team is up in the air, and we are trying to trade the other half. It was like this a few years ago too, then in the final two weeks everyone was announced as scheduled to be there except Frank. I would bet Kelly will be at Sox Fest.

Final Four: Duke, UConn, Arizona, and North Carolina. Champion: Duke

I really believe the Sox giving Jose 5 million sort of shows us that they aren't too worried about money. Sure they may try to move Koch and Konerko, but I think a signing like this says they may try to re-work Magglio's deal and lock him up long term. I really hope so.
-
If Maggs is dealt I sure hope Reed is the real thing, or that Borchard pans out. Everyone talks about our depth in the OF... but I'm still not sold on trading Maggs (or even CLee)
-
I have to disagree. While Alomar isn't putting up his "greatest 2nd Baseman of all time #'s", I do not think he is a backup player. I think it will be interesting to see how Robbie prepares and trains this offseason. He has admitted he is finally happy and having fun again... and as the great Oz stated, having fun and good baseball go hand in hand. I think Robbie and Willie will be a good combo for us.

I do not want to see Maggs traded. I guess I am not old enough yet to not get attached to players. In the end I don't think Maggs will get traded, but who knows.

So much for Molitor coming w/ Cito or to the Yanks

Molitor was the only reason I would have supported the move for Cito Gaston. Oh well.

"They either want me or they don't." We Don't I am more interested in the talks with Buehrle and Lee right now than any FA signings. Obviously Mark will go to arbitration because everyone knows he doesn't want to be here long term, but CLee is what intrigues me. I really think if the Sox can lock him up that may be the final piece to "the Sox without Maggs". LOCK UP C LEE

Go for Carlos Lee. #45 all the way.

I can't stand Doug Mientkiewicz... But I am Happy Frank is coming back. I have seen too many of my favorite Sox players go out with a different team or get pushed out at the end on bad terms.

HAPPY NBA TIME! -
Obviously Pitcher B/Colon is better, but I'm sorry I am not as hell bent on getting Colon back as a lot of other people are. Sure Colon looked "lights out" at time, but overall I never felt like he was a dominant number 1. My point wasn't to say Garland is better, or as good. My point is other than being an innings eater Colon didn't really do anything extraordinary. If he gets 15 mil from someone I'd hope that would come with a 20 win guarantee.
-
Pitcher A is Jon Garland, and Pitcher B is Colon. While I definitely would love to see Colon come back, I'm not sure that his stats are that of a dominant Number 1 Starter.
-
I was comparing these two pitchers stats. What do you think? Close comparison? Major Difference? Pitcher A is better? Pitcher B is better? What if you were told pitcher A was 5 years younger? G GS W L IP H ER HR BB SO K/9 P/GS WHIP ERA (A)32 32 12 13 191.2 188 96 28 74 108 5.07 95.0 1.37 4.51 (B)34 34 15 13 242.0 223 104 30 67 173 6.43 103.8 1.20 3.87

If Bartolo wants to leave let him. Obviously I'd love to have him back too and I think he is a great pitcher, but if he doesn't come back KW can turn around and use that 10-15 million on two pitchers: Pettite, Ponson, Alvarez, Pavano, Milwood, and Brian Anderson are out there too, and I am sure quite a few pitchers will be put on the trade block like (Freddy Garcia, Javier Vasquez, Curt Schilling)

CITO TIME

Wells Hurt... It couldn't happen to a better guy. GO SIROTKA

The more I hear about Cito Gaston, the more I like him. I am still worried he is too much like JM but I then remember... back to back world series titles.

Billy Koch is a fighter. You can see that in him. Some guys suck and don't seem to care, but I could tell Billy was truly dissappointed in himself. I look for him to bounce back next season and have a lot better year. I'm not sure how he will be used, but I think he will be a main part of our pen.

I'm not sure there is anyone is baseball I dislike more than David Wells. Get HIM Fish! Long Live Sirotka and the 2000 Season!

I'm not quite sure what to think of Willie. At one time he was the top prospect in the Orioles organization, yet he has never really been able to take that next step. Great at AAA, but has yet to show he deserves playing as a regular in the big leagues... but has he really been given a fair oppurtunity to do so? Milton Bradley of the Indians was awful for his first 600 big league at-bats, now this year he finally put it together. I still think Willie can be a special player if he has the baseball gods' support.

Amazing stat about Pedro Martinez this year
JDsDirtySox replied to sox-r-us's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I second that. there is no way the yanks would get Pedro, and I don't think Pedro would ever join the dark side... now as for Vlad Guerrero, thats a totally different story. He will be the Yanks Starting RF next year -
Until that at bat I would say the Yanks Fans hated Boone... but now they love him like Mattingly
