  1. Mullins probably would have been a better signing for just $1.5 million more, but it seems like Getz wants Acuna to get a chance at CF.
  2. Because we are used to bad vet signings who are on their last leg. These are actually good mid-range signings.
  3. Exactly. Hicks doesn’t have any value. Bello does, and a lot of it.
  4. If I read the rumor correctly, it sounded like there was a higher rated prospect in the 10-15 range on the Red Sox side and a lesser rated prospect on the White Sox side at the back end of their top 30. I know they need a starter but I have a hard time believing the Sox would take on a bad contract like Hicks’ for a prospect but wouldn’t eat any of Roberts’ salary to improve the return. In any case, this Hicks trade didn’t happen.
  5. Yep, seems like it would have been the perfect time to do it, especially in a trade with the Reds, and they still didn’t.
  6. I read that the Red Sox were including a pitching prospect in the 10-15 range. The White Sox were taking on a bad contract that Boston wants to dump and including a top 30 pitching prospect a well.
  7. To be fair, the Sox were 3.5 games behind the Indians at the time. 🤣
  8. The Red Sox would have more than likely included a decent amount of cash in that trade. I doubt the White Sox were taking on Hicks’ full contract — $12 million in 2026 and $12 million in 2027. Otherwise, who would want him?
  9. I would be surprised if they eat the remainder of his contract. Hopefully they just stick him at DH but yeah, that messes up Quero’s at bats.
  10. Yep. It must have been a decent chunk of cash Boston would have been sending over. Hicks for 2-years and $24 million doesn’t sound great.
  11. Yep…
  12. Real SoxTalk posters drive Jeeps on the south side.
  13. What do you mean, if they keep Benintendi? Where is he going?
  14. I believe there’s around $5 million left of the money freed up by trading Robert for Acuna. That trade freed up around $19 million. Seranthony took $8 million of it for this season and Hays will be $6 million of it at a minimum. Not much money left for a solid starter.
  15. I doubt anyone wants him other than some low payroll team. He’s out of options and coming off of a terrible season at AAA. He wasn’t great at AAA in 2024 either.
  16. I heard that it is indeed Lord Meidroth. Here is your sword, @Chicago White Sox…
  17. Nugenix baby! And she’ll like it too…
  18. Not that I wanted him back but I wonder what his salary is if he makes the team.
  19. Brayan Bello seems to be too good of a target while Patrick Sandoval and Jordan Hicks seem too awful. If Sosa is the name involved, I would expect a starter somewhere in between.
  20. Bello’s deal is a great contract for his performance though. He’s guaranteed $50.5 million over 4 years.
  21. I can’t imagine Sosa could net Bello in a one-for-one. That would be highway robbery.
  22. Yep. Would be surprised if Sosa could net him without more added on the Sox side.
  23. Does Sosa count as an infielder considering his poor glove?
