  1. We have a GM who got a mediocre return for Cease and chose to trade for Fletcher over McCarthy. Getz choosing Vargas over Keaschall wouldn’t be surprising at all. At least it looks like he may have nailed the Crochet trade.
  2. 😶 https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2794480-re-ranking-all-30-mlb-farm-systems-at-the-end-of-2018-milb-season.amp.html
  3. More like “yet another awful player that Getz once acquired.”
  4. Acquiring Vargas instead dropped them to #2.
  5. He also greatly underestimated the number of peons chanting for Jerry to sell the team.
  6. Agreed. This should be decided in Charlotte in the first few months of the season before he is even called up. That way, you get the extra year of contract and get an idea of where he should be positioned.
  7. They are a legit organization and care more about talent than money. In the same situation, the Sox would’ve probably cut a young guy over potentially burning $4.5 million. Or Getz would be frantically trying to trade Brasier for the most cash considerations offered, along with a 27 year old Single A reliever.
  8. Imagine being a fan of a team that dumps a good cheap reliever to make room to sign an even better and more expensive closer. I hope the Dodgers win the next 5 World Series and make every other cheap team eat 💩.
  9. “Dodgers designated RHP Ryan Brasier for assignment. The Dodgers’ 40-man roster is so loaded that they had to make a very difficult decision on who to remove to free up a spot for Kirby Yates and unfortunately this time it was Brasier left on the outside looking in. The 37-year-old hurler should attract plenty of attention on waivers after registering a 3.54 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 25/5 K/BB ratio over 28 innings with the Dodgers in 2024.”
  10. Pretty much. I see perpetual rebuilds in the Sox future until Reinsdorf is gone.
  11. Agreed. Combine both teams drafting and development talents and they might upstage the Dodgers. But separately…
  12. Well, if he does, it turns into a great trade assuming Thorpe is a decent starter.
  13. Your best example is of a team that is in a far better place than the lowly White Sox? The Sox also can’t develop a hitting prospect worth a damn like the Orioles. Regardless, no Orioles fan is trading places with us.
  14. Wouldn’t describing the Cease trade as providing a “light return” be admitting that the return wasn’t good enough or as good as it should have been?
  15. Famous last words from a bad GM. I seem to remember him using the plural “parades” as well.
  16. There will always be a team that will take on a decent reliever for a pittance, especially if the Dodgers include some cash.
  17. Yikes. So he can at least play 3B but his bat/power would obviously play worse there than SS.
  18. Other teams spend on things like this all the time and still manage to also have a reasonable payroll. The Sox have to do this now because they’ve failed in choosing the wrong front office, scouting, development, and technology for years and years. And we still don’t know if they nailed it this time either. No bonus points granted for that.
  19. We already saw what happened. The Royals extended Witt last February and then the team went on to finish 86-76 with a playoff berth.
  20. No, but they did manage to sign Witt to a $288 million dollar contract. Jerry is at $75 million.
