Getz was the director of player development (from 2017 to 2020) and the assistant GM (starting in 2021) before Hahn and Kenny were fired and he became the full GM in 2023. Of course he bears some responsibility for the farm system and roster, unless he was sitting around doing nothing in his roles and just collecting a paycheck.

The owner let the existing regime, which included Getz, make all the trades at the 2023 deadline while knowing he was going to fire both Kenny and Hahn and promote Getz from assistant GM to GM. Remember, Reinsdorf said he didn’t even interview anyone else but Getz for the GM job. It was most definitely the start of the second rebuild. Afterall, they traded away 7 players that made up 27% of the 26-man roster!

No, Rebuild II is now starting its third year. Hahn definitely kickstarted the second rebuild in 2023 by trading Lopez, Giolito, Lynn, Kelly, Graveman, Middleton, and Burger. Getz was the assistant GM and probably had some input regarding those trades.

Drury has a broken left thumb so he likely won’t be making the opening day roster.

I’m sure the bone spur was legit but my guess is that Thorpe’s later elbow soreness, cortisone shot, additional soreness, and removal from his start was all likely due to this pre-existing or new issue.

I hope so. Maybe the Sox will get his injury status right the next time they report it.

I have no clue what your point is here but the guy was bad in almost 500 plate appearances at A+. A 2 for 2 day would only impress an absolute moron.
