Yep, if Castillo was 28 I would feel a lot better about this trade. I know it’s cliche but this does feel a bit like shades of the Shields trade. Not Smith becoming Tatis Jr. but Castillo being old and falling apart like Shields.

People were upset at the thought of Wolkow and Smith for Peralta. I take that deal all day over this one. Plus, you wouldn’t have all that money sunk into a declining pitcher going forward and could sign a younger starter in the offseason. This trade stinks.

Yep, Castillo should be a salary dump at this point and the Sox actually gave up a decent prospect and took on a lot of money for him. This is a an absolute stinker of a trade by Getz.

But why would they bother picking up Rodgers as opposed to playing any catcher like Romo, or the catcher they just DFA in Chadwick Tromp? They are done. Why would they try to maintain a decent catcher?
