White Sox Projected Rotations
We are talking about the White Sox, an utterly cheap team that enters most seasons without even having a fifth starter. Remember when the Sox signed Cueto a week or so after the season had already started? Haha… Just like Flexen was signed for peanuts to be the Sox #4/#5 starter, Soroka was acquired to be their #2/#3 starter. Getz had it all planned out in his head when he acquired both bums. https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-2024-opening-day-roster

White Sox Projected Rotations
Why are you worried about Jerry’s money, especially this season? The payroll is around $60 million. He should be approving anything that brings in more talent. Also, half of the pitchers you mentioned will bust just like @southsider2k5 always says.

White Sox Projected Rotations
Soroka was acquired to be one of the top starters in the Sox rotation, project or not. That was pretty obvious from the beginning. He started the second game of the season. Other than developing your own players, flipping players should be pretty much the main goal of one-year/short-term acquisitions such as these when you know your team is going to be horrible. The problem is, most of the players Getz acquired sucked. I think it’s possible to “buy a prospect” but like you said, you aren’t getting a top prospect for eating a bad contract. But it’s not a strategy Jerry would ever approve so it’s likely not worth discussing.

White Sox Projected Rotations
Most people were more upset about the Bummer trade meaning that Nicky Lopez was immediately our starting 2B making $4.3 million, considering he sucks. Also, Soroka was acquired to be one of the top starters in the Sox rotation, where he sucked horribly. He actually started the second game of the season after Crochet. He only had the chance to excel as a reliever because he failed so miserably in Getz’s initially intended role. In the end, none of it mattered because Getz couldn’t trade either player for anything at the deadline.

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
It will likely be a bad signing after year one but it’s a drop in the bucket to them. Just like the Edman signing.

Corbin Burnes signs with D-backs
Stop licking @Chicago White Sox’s tears.

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
$195K versus $181K. I’m sure Jerry could’ve afforded $14K more. The problem is that Jerry sucked at everything else, as in hiring his own organization.

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
Okay — don’t sign the wrong guy next time. I remember the Benintendi thread back then and numerous posters were questioning Hahn signing such a mediocre player to such a large deal.

The Rangers winning a WS 2 years ago is enough to support the parity you are pretending doesn’t exist. You made a dig about people with “zero business acumen” having opinions about the very situation you are crying about. Meanwhile, you are the same poster that claimed to move from Chicago to Nashville due to the Sox sucking, not due to a new higher paying job, or property taxes, etc. So who has the poor business acumen? Honestly, I can work anywhere in the US due to my company's full-time WFH/remote work policy, but I surely wouldn’t consider moving from Chicago due to the Sox. And yes, I could save a ton of money moving away from this city. But I’m not going to let a crappy owner like Jerry dictate where I live.

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
Not a hissy fit at all. See my previous post. My previous post proves that you are wrong. It isn’t necessary to be a top 5 spender like the Dodgers to win a WS. That covers many more owners and teams than just Jerry and the Sox.

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
So what is your ridiculous whiny point? Until the Dodgers win the WS every fucking year, the highest payroll isn’t the end all be all like you are making it out to be. The Texas Rangers won the WS in 2023. Their opening day payroll was 9th overall that year at $195 million. The Sox opening day payroll that year was $181 million. It IS fucking possible to win a WS without spending like the Dodgers. Maybe you should move to Nashville again if you have “zero business acumen”?

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
Does he have enough money to maintain a payroll much higher than the current $60 million dollar payroll? Yes, let’s stop playing stupid here…
-

Moving the goal posts? Wow. So if the Sox make the playoffs via winning their division or WC, it is impossible for them to win a WS? How did 2005 happen? Yes, it was fluky. But last I checked, the Dodgers or the other top 5 high ass payroll teams don’t win the WS every year. Are you re-writing history?
-
Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
Zero business acumen? I think you are making too many assumptions about posters you don’t know personally. I never said the Sox could do what the Dodgers are doing. I did however say they could spend enough money to try to win their own division or a WC. And from there, who knows? Like I said, the Dodgers whom you continue crying about have not won 10 straight WS rings. Jerry enjoys coming in second place. He has said so himself. It makes the fans want to come back and spend more the next season. He is not an owner that truly wants to “JUST WIN, BABY”, to quote greg. That is why Jerry needs to be in this conversation. Period.

They can try to win their division, or even a WC, and then see what happens. Last I checked, the Dodgers haven’t won 10 straight WS.
-
Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
So there, you just called out the true problem. The Dodgers almost always spend the most but they don’t win the WS every year, do they? Meanwhile, Jerry doesn’t even try to win his own division the majority of the time.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
Was hoping this was you, but he’s got a much weaker beard. I hope whomever was looking for a record-setting Sox shirt for Christmas a few weeks back saw this one. All facts. Period.

You should be right, but the Reds are cheap like Jerry. Our only hope is the Astros, and that’s only if they have given up on Jacob Melton.

Get those tickets NOW! (LOL)...
I honestly had never heard of the Bananas before. I just watched a bunch of videos of them on YouTube and I think @nrockway is pretty spot on. I would go to a game, but just like Medieval Times, it would get old quickly and once would be enough. Seems like they are very obviously marketing to a specific segment of people — men and women that like to watch young athletic guys dance and sing, along with bringing their children that will enjoy the spectacle over “slow, long, and boring” MLB baseball. There’s nothing wrong with that, but let’s call a spade a spade… The trick plays are cool. Other than that, I could see it getting old like everything else — Harlem Globetrotters, Medieval Times, etc.

Meanwhile, Jerry doesn’t even try. He endeavors for .500 seasons because that’s good enough for him. Remember the quotes he has made about how coming in 2nd place is good? I hope the Dodgers win every WS from now until eternity. Maybe it will force cheap skate owners like Jerry to actually spend some money and try to compete. But no, Jerry loves rebuilds because he gets to cash in on $60 to $70 million dollar payrolls.
-
Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
Beat me to it. Exactly. I read your post after I made mine. There have been numerous rumors of the Sox dumping the contracts of Benintendi and Robert. Meanwhile, the Dodgers sign a 32-year old outfielder for a higher AAV than both of our jabronis and we try to rationalize it. Blame Jerry’s absolute fucking cheapness and greed, rather than rooting for a salary cap to keep down teams that actually want to win. Teams that would rather sit back and collect profits are exactly where they should be, in the dumpster.
-
Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
Who cares? Every other team can do the same thing. Yes, some teams make more money than others, but keep thinking Jerry couldn’t go on a spending splurge if he truly wanted to, at least to a lesser extent than the Dodgers. Remember how the Sox cut salary for the first rebuild and are now doing the same thing again? I’m pretty sure they still haven’t spent all the money they saved from cutting so much salary during the first rebuild.

Never bet on the White Sox. Haven’t you learned anything being a Sox fan all these years? 🤣

Poles mistakenly thought he could acquire a bunch of mediocre to bad OL and get them coached up. Turn s%*# into gold. Too bad he also hired an awful coaching staff.

Thanks for making me find the article. I would have rather not read this garbage. 🤣 “Ryan Poles attributes slow offensive starts to training camp” No, Ryan. It started when you did nothing to improve a terrible OL for a rookie QB. Fire this dude already.
